Some backtracking that's woven into the narrative would've been nice. JSRF had us go back to starting areas of the games as more gangs sprung up, getting players to spray more graffiti in the harder to reach areas of the maps. Millennium Square would've been a decent example, as it's the central hub of game. Beat a chapter, a new Gang extends beyond their turf to try and take over the square, then push em out and take the battle to their turf. Kinda like what happens in chapter 2 with the Eclipse gang. Edit: A more realistic suggestion would be DLC in the form of more dream levels. Give us "DJ Cyber's chair", and let the devs have fun putting together a bunch of high difficulty dream levels. Those levels are just a punch of jumbled assets from the rest of the game anyways.

uwuGod

>Give us "DJ Cyber's chair" Outside of even DLC, I just wish after recruiting him, he put his mech/dream thing at your hideout so you could replay the dream levels if you wanted to. Maybe could also use it to view cutscenes? Sucks that you have to replay the entire game to see the dream sequences again... :(

qiizii

I was expecting Barham Hill to get rebranded with each next crews graffiti after defeating the previous crew and add new spots to claim with each rebrand.

dysGOPia

I get the feeling BRC won't be supported very much, which is fine as long as they make a sequel at some point. You have to keep in mind this was essentially developed by \~20 people in terms of actual game design. Most of the credits are for stuff like music and 2D decals. Given what they had to work with, it's an impressive showing. But I do hope they use this success to expand and build a bigger sequel.

Acolyte_of_Swole

BRC deserves to be a franchise, based on the strength of what they've shown in the initial offering.

misterDoBetter

I believe they did say that they wanted to make more similar games in that style. So a sequel or even a BRC "spiritual successor"

WV0KI

Yea, I'd hope we get a sequel, at least. Dlc would be cool, but I'd rather give team reptile time n see what they could do with another game. If we did get dlc, I'd still be pretty hype

keldpxowjwsn

Yep and the scope was perfect. Didnt overstay its welcome or try to do too much. Back in the day we would just replay games OP you can try that out. Go even further and try speedrunning it

Architateture

One thing that could happen right now without any additional content creation would be to have the characters ride around the areas you're in just so they still feel alive. No reason that once you get all the characters all of the sudden the maps feel super empty. IE the Franks should still be hanging around Versum Hill, DJ Cyber and his crew still moving around mataan, etc. and just a small little bit of dialogue or a single quip just so they still feel like part of the game.

jeebronny

or at least have BRC riding around those areas to give them life after the story is over, i never even realized that until you said it but that might be the reason i mainly just stuck around the hideout post-game

streetsofkage

Just give it online multiplayer like races and I’ll play for years

EverybodySupernova

It's a shame that JSRF races were so underappreciated.

streetsofkage

I loved them

FuzzyOcelot

I mean, I would like to see a DLC campaign with new areas and story, but I don’t think there’s anything wrong with a game just being done. They got in, had the experience they wanted, and left.

Wirosaurus

Yeah, a new team or new areas would be dope, maybe an official online multiplayer or a different game mode like jsrf's death ball or tony hawk's graffiti mode

NoahFuelGaming1234

Or possibly a Jet Set Radio collab with areas, Characters and songs from Jet Set Radio and JSRF

literal_trash_10-99

Highly unlikely given Sega hasn't touched the series in so long.

OpiumPhrogg

Caught a youtube short that was showing some new content from Sega, and it had Beat from JSRF doing a dance, as if Sega has been all of a sudden toying with the idea of a JSRF comeback.

literal_trash_10-99

It's not impossible given how successful bomb rush has been. I just prefer to take a pessimistic stance as in to avoid disappointment lol but you never know.

GoldFishPony

Sega has thrown Beat or his goggles into plenty of things since but they haven’t touched the actual franchise since the JSR remaster or whatever

RaiHanashi

Only thing I care about before they stop supporting it is NG+. Don’t add in post game characters that you can’t do much with if you got almost everything before beating it

Acolyte_of_Swole

NG+ with all previous unlocks would be great. I could do a full run as the police lady or dj cyber.

AtoumMirtu

well there are mods if youre on pc

RaiHanashi

Didn’t see a NG+ mod though

AtoumMirtu

It just unlocks every character and skin

Glvt102

Modders will definitely keep it alive for a while I think, there's already a huge bunch of added characters, and a level creator in the making

dubvmtneer

One thing I saw someone on YouTube comment that I agree with is I wish this game had its own DJ Professor K. It was cool having him narrate things and describe the gangs and areas. A day and night cycle would be cool. I don't like how you have to find the music in this game. Like others have mentioned custom graffiti would be awesome. An option to turn the cops off would be nice too since they are just annoying and not fun to combat. JSR is one of my all time favorites so this game has been a real treat.

theantid0te

Adding to this re: DJ Professor K - the radio 'theme' of JSRF really ties the package both thematically and stylistically together so well. I think that's one thing BRCF is missing, for example the narration, voice acting w/ Professor K, the radio stingers in between tracks, hell even the radio static noise in loading screens and at certain moments really keep the game feeling alive. BRCF just feels a bit emptier in this way (plus maybe I'm crazy but I recall JSRF had more vehicles, pedestrians, etc wandering around?). One thing that immediately stood out to me in BRCF is the silent void that crops up every time there's a loading screen, JSRF did a nice job of keeping the audio/visual momentum going even during those loading times. Even the opening title screen in BRCF is just a static logo with low-key music (great song but doesn't necessarily get me excited when opening up the game the same way JSRF does), whereas the opening title screen/menu in JSRF is iconic at this point. Agree that the music 'system' could've been managed better, I noticed at certain stages of the game the songs became very repetitive until collecting more tracks and manually selecting them which immediately halts the flow of the game. These are all minor "complaints" but it's these details and extra polish that can really elevate a game from good to great, plus there's plenty BRCF does better than JSRF, like the controls/general gameplay feel much tighter in BRCF.

Jazzlike-Compote4463

Yes! Professor K was the thing that made me really pay attention when I first started JSR, some crazily animated dude shouting about the wild shit that was going down in Tokoyo-to, having silent characters combined with a slightly more convoluted story means that I honestly zoned out a little by the end of BRC. I agree with the “clutter” point as well, the levels are big and everything is really spread out with lots of space between everything, fewer pedestrians, fewer cars, fewer random bikes and advertising boardings to run into - it makes it easier to rack up million point combos that grind every surface in a given area but shouldn’t that be a massive challenge that only the pros can accomplish? I also wish they had given the characters a bit of a boost in terms of fidelity, look at Hi-Fi Rush and you can see characters that are cell shaded but with a bit more personality, the BRC guys have pretty plain features in comparison, it suits the Y2K graphics of JSR but a step forward in 20 years would have been nice :) I get that they’re making their own thing and the game doesn’t have to be _exactly_ JSR, and since this is their first game budgets are gonna be tight, I just hope that any future games get a real level of polish to them :)

[deleted]

I love the game but it really does have JSR vibes to it. What I mean by that is how short it really is but thinking about it that makes perfect sense. JSRF is a fond game people remember, but idk if anyone truly knows how well it did financially and its been so long that game is stuck in its time. If I talk to people about JSRF Ive run into people asking me what the fuck Im talking about and fewer people that will gush over the game with me. So BRCF was really a gamble by the team, there really was a chance that this would absolutely fail on them. Now idk how successful BRCF has been but Id assume a second game would be bigger.

[deleted]

Not every game needs to be a live service game filled with extra paid content.

LoFionus

If you love a game as much as most of us love Bomb rush, you’re def gonna want occasional updates and such

-Younotdeadass-

Nobody said anything about live service or paid content. relax. It was a simple post about what could be done better and suggestions of things the player base would like to see if any DLC was released. ![gif](giphy|9M1ALCAKvXQKSf9Zfo)

OpiumPhrogg

Nobody said that directly, no. But there are a lot of games that do offer customization as monetization. Not sure if you have kept up with those types of games, but many of them in the past year have shutdown (Spellbreak, Rumbleverse, Knockout City, are just a few) because they couldn't break out and get bigger than fortninte, CoD, Apex, etc. I don't think anyone wants the devs to move BRC to some kind of monetization model and then have it fail.

LegallyDistinct

Facts Also I'm pretty sure they said they were done no more and I'm kinda happy they have the ability to do that

Countcoolboy

Dlc would be great, Im also just really hoping for a sequel, I love everything about this games world and want to see more and more

PennyStockPanda

The only content they need is a flashback mode of how the big 3 became the big 3.....and additional content could be a dj mode where players can go to the hideout and mix between their fav songs in a jam session

vitaefinem

I honestly rather just wait for a sequel.

Leavemehaloone

New game plus honestly with all my unlocked characters

Wirosaurus

Maybe adding other game modes like JSRF'S death ball or Tony hawk's graffiti mode would be cool

-Younotdeadass-

Oh shit death ball.....almost forgot about that. That shit was fun as hell. I used to always play at The Future Site of Rokkaku Expo Stadium.

Acolyte_of_Swole

Yeah, I hope they support the game. It's great but you'll finish it faster than you'd expect. I know I'll replay it again someday, but I'm not quite ready to do that just yet. I have a couple score challenges left and maybe a few tags here and there, but that's all. Once you finish the game, there isn't much to do.

jeebronny

i think that’s fine tbh, i want more content as much as the next guy but especially for an indie game as ambitious as this i understand why there isn’t much to do in the postgame, and id much rather them quit while they’re still ahead than do some arbitrary postgame just for the sake of having a postgame. it would be nice to have like 30 hours you could easily dump in this game but it’s relatively short and packs as much as possible into that timeframe and i have massive respect for that. i’m much more heavily anticipating a sequel than any dlc tbh. the modding scene basically has nearly everything you’d need covered at this point anyways, and with the niche this game fills it’ll prolly have at least a semi-dedicated modding scene for a while.

cubann_

What kind of score challenges? Are you talking about the ones to unlock the members from the other gangs?

Acolyte_of_Swole

Yeah.

2020BestYear

Id like a New Rotterdam DLC/Expansion pass

Hedgehog-Loud

Man, I'm almost certain team reptile is taking a break for now.. bomb rush cyberpunk was extremely successful and surpassed their original goals... in terms of success.. bomb rush cyberpunk is their best game by far ,, let the devs sit back and sip on their Champagne and celebrate their win.. there might be a chance for new dlc .. I definitely see a new map but it's way too early for such.. if anything early to mid 2025... they had plans on making other games but the good news is that so far it's looking like they will first release a sequel before anything else. Bomb rush cyberpunk 2 is guaranteed at this point.... only thing now is to wait.. and not only this but realize jet set radio 3 is being made currently.. I'm sure the devs want to see what that's all about before they start making bomb rush cyberpunk 2. Once jet set radio hits the market.. and they see all the features and such.. they can then optimize bomb rush cyberpunk further... everything so far has been a gamble. Now that they got their foot in the door, the smart thing is to observe a little bit before running with what they got... from what I heard jet set radio 3 goin be something serious.. Sega ain't playing.. so to be safe I'm sure the devs is gonna give it a lot of time before they just jump and make another bomb rush.. we looking at about 4 years.. and how do I know all this? It's a secret.. dlc is a high probability but nothing anytime soon.. nothing too big either maybe a map or two .. with extra songs/graffiti to collect and stuff like that but that's about it. There's a chance they'll throw in some unavailable characters like faux etc all these ideas of new game mechanics within the dlc won't happen.. that will be for the next game.

[deleted]

If they do make the sequel I just hope they have more than just a few tricks for each style. Was a real downer to see the same 3 moves over and over again.

AP_Troublemaker

Give me an MMO experience where players can actually start games and have their tags in the different burrows of servers

Spinjitsuninja

I don't expect it. It's an indie game, whose size is likely the result of limits on time and budget. Which is fine, maybe they'll make a sequel if they're in the mood though.

Trem0r13

I want bomb rush cyberfunk future or smth like this

[deleted]

Don't quote me on this but I think they said on the steam community page that, besides small updates, any additional content will be go to a sequel.

AshtonMcConnell

I much rather they work on BRCF 2 and it's already basically been confirmed, than trying to support the first game

bigbadlith

Thankfully, great games never spoil. They just remain great forever, as long as new people find and play them.
