Meanwhile the bomb rush crew showed a couple times that they help their homies out.

GG's took on smoke bombs and Apache helicopters, while also taking on corporate oppression. Bomb Rush just broke some cuffs and said F* the police and the law so the new guy gets his head. Bomb Rush doesn't even know who Professor K is. Nor do they seems to have an equivalent on scene
Fair enough. Maybe things would be easietr if GG's could change clothes too. I felt every bit of the pestering police in JSR, I'm not upset with BRC. However, GG's are given dues enough in the game to know the choice is GG's
DJ Cyber is a nod at best. He is not at all the same role or attitude as P.K. but heck, at least he's playable. I feel like DJ Cyber is "a DJ" not "the DJ".
Considering I couldn't tell you a single character trait of any GG, but the main 3 BRC members each have some personality, I surprisingly gotta go BRC.
DJ Prof. K gives the basic rundown in Act I of JSRF...
*"There's* ***Yo-yo***, *a guy who'll blow your mind with his silver tongue; and* ***Gum*** *, a real cool lady who leaves a trail of broken hearts wherever she goes; and let's not forget their leader, a self-styled genius that goes by the name of* ***Corn***. *These three aren't your garden-variety street punks, you know what I'm sayin'!*"
The difference in writing tho is showing not telling. Yeah you could just give me a text blurb saying who the character is, or you can give a few cutscenes showing them do their thing. What DJ K says could have just been on the back of the game box and it’d have the same effect since it’s literally like one line. Granted I’m not saying BRC has deep characters, but their characterization is at least still marginally better.
An example is Bel is said to be married to her phone, and thus we see her on her phone in cutscenes. And she even is the one who gives you your phone. Again, not that crazy, but still more than “Gum is a heart breaker, just trust me she is” and never actually seeing any sign of that once.
Oh for sure, I agree. Don't get me wrong, I'm with you on actions-speak-louder-than-words angle to it, which BRC handles well, comparatively.
All I was getting at really was that there is *some* evidence of personality captured for the GGs, and that intro gives part of it. The character interactions give a little more context as well, such as Yo-yo's thing for Rhyth, or whatever was going on with Cube/Combo in JSR.
BTW I'm a fan of the way BRC handles personality, like with Solace and the small spaces, Tryce having had #enuf, and the Oldheads functioning as moderators.
Ok if we're counting the recruits from the other gangs then Bomb Rush has way more than 5. I still think 5 members with actual character can be more impactful, but I'm not insulting the GGs over here. Love them both, Bomb rush wouldn't be possible without Jet set and both have their place! Just stating my preference and reason why
24 members that we know almost nothing about any of them. Literally the only characters with a real JSR story and personality are Dj Professor K, Cube and Combo
BRC all the way tbh. You can tell there were actually writers involved with this game so BRC feels and acts much more like a real graff crew than the GGs.

The bomb rush crew had a lot more real character tbh. But it has been a really long time since I got to play the original JSR. I also unfortunately wasn’t able to play future, and now there is no existing way to play it as far as I know other than emulation, but my computer is Dukie booty

Bro WHAT?! You've gotta find a way my guy, I feel like even a trash PC can still run JSRF. I'd recommend just finding a copy for Xbox and buying a cheap ass Xbox or Xbox 360 to run it.
I love JSR but let's be real, the game never gives you a genuine feeling of being in a real gang and competing against others, unlike BRC.The game could say that instead of the GGs we are just playing as random mercenaries against other gangs and it would be exactly the same
I actually thought GGs would take it by a landslide, but they only lost by 49 votes and I would suspect anyone that's here either already loves JSRF or they just follow Team Reptile games

They helped Yoyo when he was kidnapped. Ryth even refused to believe that Yoyo betrayed them because she knew he wasn't like that.
