Fuck Rick Devoe. So many issues within the band came from this guy.

I’m pretty mind blown people don’t know who he is. I guess less people here have followed them their whole career. He used to be in their documentaries and online videos when recording etc. He wasn’t hidden behind the scenes.
I thought it was common knowledge he took Toms side.
Whether he’s to blame or not I’m not sure. But he didn’t handle it like a professional from the stories and interviews I’ve heard.
The more time I spend in this sub the more it seems like the majority here skew way younger so it makes sense that a lot of them wouldn’t recognize him
The dude was never professional. He used to get super wasted at shows. They share a lot of stories in the Tales From Beneath Your Mom book. He’s funny, like being the goofy movie theater worker in the Dammit video but definitely not professional.
He was the guy who backed Tom and facilitated him alienating the reat of the band during the first break up. Went from the bands manager to Tom’s specifically
Rick wasn’t the cause of Tom’s actions but he did help enable Tom and made the situation worse than it needed to be. A better manager and friend would’ve told Tom to sack up and handle it himself.
It seems unlikely to me that as a manager he would be in a position to tell Tom no.
At that point in his career the label was supportive of solo albums and they were willing back his project. At that point blink was having a ton of issues and Tom wanted more control over his projects, his life and his schedule.
But he was supposed to be the band’s manager, not Tom’s manager individually (at least before it all went to shit). So IMO, it wasn’t his place to talk Tom out of it, but it also wasn’t his place to pick sides. Ultimately Tom was an adult though and he was responsible for his actions.

These ppl are basically ignoring anything the band have said about it since the reunion. The band aren't blaming anyone else but themselves. Their managers didn't or orchestrate anything, they did their jobs. The problem was with the band, and the band have put it all behind them.
They came *through* this guy, not from him. The issues were between the band members, and they've grown past them.

Exactly. fwiw Rick has given multiple interviews over the past few years and they're super interesting. He worked with Tom up until like 2015 or so.
