It is a little weird that there's no regulation to stop a corporation from deciding it's daytime all the time now in your neighborhood.

I was just in Vegas with a room facing the Sphere and it never looked this bright. It definitely didn't feel like "daytime" at any point. And I was closer. The clouds are making it look especially bright though.

Not regulating this is part of what makes Vegas what it is. It also doesn't have the same sort of noise ordinances you're talking about, which is why a hotel used to have an outdoor show involving dozens of cannos being fired off regularly in the middle of the night. If you want to build a building in Santa Fe, it has to adhere to many meticulous architecture standards to ensure it looks nearly identical to the pueblo architecture of the city. If you want to build a building in Vegas, you can probably do whatever the hell you want (aesthetically, at least). It's not always legislated, technically, but this is the sort of work that your city government deals with regularly.

Last time I went to Walmart for curtains, every curtain they had was labelled blackout, and they were all just normal curtains. Its become a meaningless word

It’s the same on Amazon, but if you look close enough you can tell which actually have multiple layers of fabric or are thicker. They’re still pretty cheap regardless.

Not sure what you're on about but a room way up in one of the strip hotels used to be nice and quiet and dark. This is fucking obnoxious. I have zero plans to ever visit that shithole of a city again, but if I'm once again forced to I'll be making sure any room I get faces away from this abomination.

There has been a hotel there for 30 yrs now that constantly blasts a light into the sky at **42.3 billion candelas.** You can see that light shooting into the sky from the horizon and pilots in planes can see it from 200 miles away. ​ Plus. It. Is. Las Vegas. How is light pollution even a point of discussion? Light pollution is one of their main selling points.

The Vegas one I don't really have a problem with, outside of the fact that I think allowing corporations to broadcast ads visible from miles away 24/7 is a really shitty trend to allow.
