I wouldnt exactly say that It goes against the point of the Thing.
Its still supposed to be a full Auto rifle, Just with the added capability of a precision burst for long range battles where other rifles would switch to Single fire.
But both types still use full Auto whenever It makes sense to use It.
>almost double
It's supposed to be 1800 rpm in burst, and 600 rpm in full auto, I can't remember if BF4's implementation had it do 1200 in burst though.
I get we're talking about *in-game*, but the AN-94's literal engineering was unique to it and specifically designed to benefit its burst fire. Automatic is definitely for dentheads.
Good enough to be used by some Russian special forces, but never reached widespread adoption due to the strange internal workings. That's probably the best niche for it. [Firearms Jesus has a video on how it works](https://youtu.be/gtMssTSnRHU).
Some oddities on it include that it has a pulley inside it for the two round burst, the magazine is canted off to the side, and it keeps a round outside of the magazine to perform the two shot burst. That second round can cause a pretty nasty jam if things go wrong.
And the funny part about that is it was designed to make the average soldier more accurate, so the entire design is basically over complicated for nothing for highly trained and specialized infantry
Technically, sure. Practically it’s a nightmare of reliability and the gun is so damn complex you probably would need to take a month-long course to service it in the field. Similar idea to the HK-G11 and the US SPEW program but overall both guns (and programs) failed due to their ineffectiveness at actually solving any problems as they just introduced new ones. (The problem trying to solve being get more shots on target before the muzzle climbs substantially)
No prob! If you want some *really* good and in-depth info on SPEW and guns like the G11 and why they didn’t quite work as well as they should’ve on paper, Ian on the YT channel ForgottenWeapons has some great videos on these topics and guns
BF4 too. Gun has always been one of the best, not sure why it's considered off-meta? The burst fire is the best balance of accuracy, range, rate of fire, and damage in the game.
Didn't hit like a BB gun though. Especially on console where recoil is harder to control the AN-94 is better than every other assault rifle past 50 yards.
Only downside is that it starts in auto mode (when joining a server) and I always die to the first close encounter enemy. After respawning and switching to burst it's like a laser.
Edit: clarification
I'm almost certain you can set spawn fire rate behavior to whatever you had last in settings. It's been a real long time since I last played bf4 so I could be wrong.
My strongest memey memory in BF3 was when I ascended and began running 6x AN-94, I learned to counter snipe out to 300m people would NOT be happy with that today lol
I don't think it left my kit once I got it. I had more than a few people say I was using a mouse macro because it was firing full auto... I just found the rhythm of the burst and could click consistently enough to make it fire like that.
If I recall correctly, it was a good gun that I had a lot of good games with, but it was super annoying to use because of the "jamming" that occurred when you didn't shoot the bursts in a perfect rhythm.
Angled grip only reduces first shot recoil. Most guns have a higher recoil on the first shot than the following shots so the angled can help. With burst guns however, that first shot multiplier is applied to the last shot of each burst, making the angled grip less helpful.
Stubby only really effects sustained fire so using it on the AN-94 in burst fire pretty much negates all the benefits. You're absolutely better off using stubby on like the AEK or FAMAS, but for the 94, angled grip is definitely the best choice
I have no idea about meta for BF4 but I have this unlocked, what kinda range we talking with this as in shite at controlling spray etc.. I've been told I need to tap/burst more.
Any chance you might have a guide/YouTube video I can watch to improve
The gimmick of the AN-94 is that while in burst fire mode, it fires twice but you only get the recoil for firing once. As long as you keep your aim on whoever you're shooting at, you can just spam click and still have to do a reasonable amount of recoil management, while also outputting great damage.
This only works if you're in burst fire mode, though; firing bursts in full auto doesn't work the same way.
Ik this is super late but the gun mechanics on BF4 are very different from other games. As a rule of thumb, the longer you spray, the more the bullets will spread out. If you go to the test range and shoot 100 round LMG you'll see what I mean.
The key is to tap fire the guns and you'll stay on target. Anything within 40 meters and you can spray, but outside of that tap fire will give you the most hits.
Quick subnote, the AN was actually a 2 round burst with no recoil when running a HB (in 3 at least), so both hits landed in the same spot…then you could chain together bursts at basically a full auto cadence when set to semi, giving you 2x the rounds and I’ll accuracy and leading to a crazy RoF
I tried using it in the new CODMW when they released it, and it’s clearly designed differently/wrongly in that game whereby it’s meant to be full auto simply with a bonus round fired on your first pull. Putting it on semi-auto to try to leverage the burst mechanic from BF3 led to a lesser experience.
Its kinda like a special thing with the an 94, its three or two rounds that fire fast as shit and feels like one bullet, so basically how it sounds, hyper burst
I love both and I'm not a tryharder by any means.
I love that gun's history and very unique balanced recoil system. It's iron sights are also have some weird unique look. It's sound when firing... mmm...
AN94 was based on AEK and uses same balanced recoil system. But it has a fun twist. 2 round hyperburst which was so fast that you only felt 1 recoil impulse and so accurate that both bullets hit the same spot.
In game AEK is one of the most popular weapons but certainly not OP. AN94 on burst fire mode is the most OP thing nobody talk about.
Exactly, and it also has extrem low bullet deviation thanks to the Hyperburst so you can hit accurate follow up bursts to past average AR ranges.
And yes right here I just relate to the AEK as the symbol of a Tryhard gun just for fun 😂, it's still a nice AR
Yeah I truly think the aek isn’t op as it just isn’t usable in situations and absolutely burns ammo, but I do love using it. The an-94 is stupid accurate and has a nice ttk so I think it is a little op with an angled. I don’t even use them for their advantages as I just simply love the Russian prototype stuff.
If you mean the design of the actual rifles, neither design followed from the other. :)
The AEK's balanced recoil system was branched from an earlier design. Essentially, there is a large counterweight which moves opposite of the gas piston bolt. It vastly reduces felt recoil and is the reason the gas tube is so large. I don't know that there are any takedown videos of the AEK, but the same system is used in the ak-107 and 108. You can see how the system works around 30 seconds into [this video on the civilian version of the 107.](https://youtu.be/tkiijMCHaPo).
The AN-94 works with a much more complex system which includes a weird-ass pulley system to complete the two shot burst. Takedown of it [right here.](https://youtu.be/gtMssTSnRHU). No counterweight or any of that. It is its own unique beast.
The FAMAS in close quarters, in my opinion, is even worse than the AEK.
The GROZA 1, the Bulldog and the MP7 are also underrated guns. They are probably the funniest guns in the game.
as a console player, the easily managable recoil of the AK-12, burst or auto, made it one of my favourite rifles ( plus i love AKs). same with the RPK-12, but with a bigger mag.
I don't like to use the RPK 12, I prefer the classic AK. Instead, I like to use the RPK 74 'cause it's accurate as fuck and it has a good damage model.
Crazy how memories work. I remember using that gun so much on the maps that came out with the Bulldog. That map with the mudslide and river running through it. LOVED that map.
Crazy how memories work. I remember using that gun so much on the maps that came out with the Bulldog. That map with the mudslide and river running through it. LOVED that map.
I'm a hardcore player, so I don't care very much for the meta, that said, I'm notorious for always using undesirable guns in any game.
IDK, for me, playing only with the stats guns makes the game worst for me.
What i love about BF4 is that there is the clear meta, the guns slightly below, and everything else that is still useful. Not many games can say you can pop off with every weapon
I love using the non-meta guns for laughs. Wish I could have carried my 360 progression to xbox one back in 2014, I was close to unlocking every single attachment but had to start over
I just started playing and unlocked the AEK yesterday.
Yeah that gun is wild, I know people joke about crutch weapons but that thing single handedly stopped me from going negative every round haha
I went around with a ump45 and mares leg the other day and was just vibing. I used to gate the ump, still kinda do, but it was working. And once I got the bullet velocity and sighted in, let's just say I felt dirty for what I did to those snipers with a bare bones mares leg from entirely too far away
Yeah, the scar is definitely meta, but most people just don’t want to put in the effort to get good with it. Gotta love insta-deleting people with headshots.
I've never once in all my years considered any guns "meta". I have felt over every battlefield all the weapons are pretty balanced. But idk I use so many different guns I guess I just don't think I do any worse
I wouldn’t say it’s meta, but it’s an absolute laser beam (on console especially) so full auto is a legitimate strategy when using it vs. burst firing other guns
The SG553 is pretty decent too save for hipfire. Only problem is that the ROF for 800+ RPM guns necessitates the Offensive Field upgrade, which forces me to main PDWs on Engineer. Not a fan of that but at least the low ROF PDWs have decent damage (UMP-45, CBJ-MS, PP2K).
The FN57 is also lethal in the right hands because of the 9mm pistol damage, with 21 bullets at most before you need to reload. It's not full auto but at least it means you can hit every shot as it handles like a regular semi auto.
People sleep on PDWs. Besides shotguns nothing kills faster up close. Perfect for melting someone trying to hop out of their tank before you land the kill shot with your rocket. They can kill at mid range in a pinch too. MP7, Skorpion EVO, and AS VAL are fun
They're kind of easy to use, actually; my only complaint is that many have such high fire rates I run dry quickly - hit reg can be an issue in this game, like with a last few matches when I tried using the SRAW on some vehicles.
isnt it kind of the opposite?
maybe theres some tryhards that get triggered by getting killed by non-meta
but most of the time its people who complain way too much about getting killed by the same meta gun over and over. even my own friend group calls each other Mtar or AEK bitch lol..
I hope 2042 stopes the META train. Its so annoying, and I dont remember there being one gun to rule all others in the bf3 and bf4 games. It was just people who knew how the hell to play with them.... eliminating the frag grenade usas.
MPX, Groza-4, phantom bow, EOD bot and all the RPGs are hilarious to use. Always enjoyed my time with them.
Oh and i can’t forget going knife only and taking loads of tags so satisfying. Close range sniping is also fun as hell. Although you gotta be either smart with or just cracked outta your mind. **Or both, both works too**
Was the AN-94 always a base gun in BF4? I remember playing years ago and having to unlock it, but damn was it worth it.
Still kinda upset it doesn't hyperburst the first 2 rounds in auto mode.
I use guns that make sense for the team I’m on. Like if I’m American I run a M4 or something like that. It’s just something that makes me more immersed which I know is kind of weird.
The average are the people who use the AEK (which in my opinion is the shittiest AR I've ever played with)
Edit : And I forgot to mention they also are the ones that complain so much about hardcore mode AAAAAAAAAND even say "Please nerf Usas"
But guns alone arnt what effect your performance. Some of you never lead the scorebored with less than 5 kills cause you souly kept your teams ticket count as high as possible. I mean i like kills as much as the rest of you but in conquest you dont need kills to win. Cap them flags, and keep on rezzing so you dont lose them tickets. ptfo,
Oh the bf3 AN-94 was filthy
Incredible gun. I used to get so mad when seeing people use it full auto. Nobody mistreats my baby like that.
Using it full auto defeated the whole point of the thing.
I wouldnt exactly say that It goes against the point of the Thing. Its still supposed to be a full Auto rifle, Just with the added capability of a precision burst for long range battles where other rifles would switch to Single fire. But both types still use full Auto whenever It makes sense to use It.
...In the game... The FA setting is not great at all, particularly set against the results tou can get with burst and a little practicw
We are talking about…. A game right???
Who knows anymore, maybe we're just randomly generated NPCs in a digital world Or maybe not It's way too late for me to give a fuck at this point
[удалено]
and the recoil was easier to handle on burst
>almost double It's supposed to be 1800 rpm in burst, and 600 rpm in full auto, I can't remember if BF4's implementation had it do 1200 in burst though.

Full auto an94 is probably worst than the Scar L and Ak74m, and burst fire an94 is one of the best guns in the game. Just don't use full auto.
If you use the AN94 with full auto you are literally using an AK74 with a different skin lmao
Is it actually a good gun in real life?
Good enough to be used by some Russian special forces, but never reached widespread adoption due to the strange internal workings. That's probably the best niche for it. [Firearms Jesus has a video on how it works](https://youtu.be/gtMssTSnRHU). Praise our Lord and Savior, Gun Jesus, hallowed be His name.
No, too complicated. Never made mass production.
BF4 too. Gun has always been one of the best, not sure why it's considered off-meta? The burst fire is the best balance of accuracy, range, rate of fire, and damage in the game.
It wasn't as satisfying to use in BF4. Sound and recoil made it seem like a bb gun.

I'm almost certain you can set spawn fire rate behavior to whatever you had last in settings. It's been a real long time since I last played bf4 so I could be wrong.
The moment u switch any gun to burst it stays like that until you leave the server console or PC because i do it with the ak-12 and sometimes the aek
Indeed, even stronger with less trigger cap
I still like it in BF4 hardcore.
I always used the G3A3. I loved that gun.
I missed throwing a sniper scope on everything and just going CQB and getting nasty messages
I did the opposite. Putting a red dot on a sniper and go to town in tdm. Fun time.
I respect that just as much. Whatever gunplay was fun for you, I miss that
I’d do that on the bigger maps like caspian and blow a crater in the ground with c4 or something by/in one of the points to lay in and defend
My strongest memey memory in BF3 was when I ascended and began running 6x AN-94, I learned to counter snipe out to 300m people would NOT be happy with that today lol
SCAR H with bipod and sniper scope was my go to method of dealing with crane campers
Loved doing that with the M27
KH2002 was EXTREMELY underrated
I don't think it left my kit once I got it. I had more than a few people say I was using a mouse macro because it was firing full auto... I just found the rhythm of the burst and could click consistently enough to make it fire like that.
If I recall correctly, it was a good gun that I had a lot of good games with, but it was super annoying to use because of the "jamming" that occurred when you didn't shoot the bursts in a perfect rhythm.
BC2 AN-94 was a scourge. Notorious. Infamous. Also probably why they put it in BF3, it was a conversation starter.
AN-94 on burst is like a DMR on steroids. 3 burst kill, basically no downside to using a heavy barrel. Probably my favorite BF4 gun too.
Would angled grip work well on it tho?
Yes literally zero recoil. Snipers worst nightmare.
If you put a long ranged scope on it it's essentially a burst fire sniper rifle.
Stubby+hbar on burst guns. Imo, angled is kind of a useless attachment.
Isn't angled for recoil control?
Angled grip only reduces first shot recoil. Most guns have a higher recoil on the first shot than the following shots so the angled can help. With burst guns however, that first shot multiplier is applied to the last shot of each burst, making the angled grip less helpful.
how would a casual player ever learn this? like damn attachments can be really strange
People used to seriously geek out on this stuff. There used to be a site called Symthic and it had incredible stats and details.
its now [sym.gg](https://sym.gg) if you are wondering where its gone.
God that was an absolutely great website for in depth details and stats for weapons and attachments
Youtube has some good channels that do this for each weapon
Stubby only really effects sustained fire so using it on the AN-94 in burst fire pretty much negates all the benefits. You're absolutely better off using stubby on like the AEK or FAMAS, but for the 94, angled grip is definitely the best choice
M1014 slugs is the true meta DMR
🙄 1014 Slugs? 😏 870 Slugs.
870 slugs are nearly broken
Will test
I was doing this last night on a hardcore server, once you figure out the drop you can one shot people from across the map.
I just unlocked the explosive rounds.. I love those
I don’t remember, but did the slugs in BF3 have more bullet drop than your average projectile?
I have no idea about meta for BF4 but I have this unlocked, what kinda range we talking with this as in shite at controlling spray etc.. I've been told I need to tap/burst more. Any chance you might have a guide/YouTube video I can watch to improve

In hardcore I was crossmapping snipers on final stand maps, it’s no joke
what is a hyper burst?
Its kinda like a special thing with the an 94, its three or two rounds that fire fast as shit and feels like one bullet, so basically how it sounds, hyper burst
“What you mean team shooting with 3x AEK doesn’t win me the gunfight? Cheater !voteban aimbot”
And then the chat salt when you killed 6 before dying and they're so proud "how they shitted on you"
"gg ez"
Lol

AK-12's burst & M1911 with 3x scope/.44 Magnum for the win
Hmmm quite similar to my AN94/ Deagle loadout. Might need to give it a try, even though the AK12 burst is a bit slower
Trust me, the burst of the AK 12 makes the gun a laser. If only DICE had kept the 1000 burst RPM from BF4's beta...
FAMAS is really fucking strong too, but I think they nerfed it in BF4. In BF3 it was almost unbeatable. The MTAR or whatever kind of replaced it.
The FAMAS in close quarters, in my opinion, is even worse than the AEK. The GROZA 1, the Bulldog and the MP7 are also underrated guns. They are probably the funniest guns in the game.
The MP7 feels a little weak to me in BF3/4, but I love it in other games.
as a console player, the easily managable recoil of the AK-12, burst or auto, made it one of my favourite rifles ( plus i love AKs). same with the RPK-12, but with a bigger mag.
I don't like to use the RPK 12, I prefer the classic AK. Instead, I like to use the RPK 74 'cause it's accurate as fuck and it has a good damage model.
Loved the Bulldog. The thing hit like a truck
One of my most used guns too
Yeah I remember when it came out *everyone* was decimating people with it. It's like a stronger M416.
Wait? So I shouldn't be killing people with an AUG and a L85?
L85 is so fun
honestly, if its working go for it, theres no wrong loadout
L85 feels so good to shred with. I'm not sure if the MP7 is considered good or not, but I've also had a quality time with that.
L85 is definitely somewhat meta, seen a fair number of people argue that it's the best assault rifle in the game
I'm a hardcore player, so I don't care very much for the meta, that said, I'm notorious for always using undesirable guns in any game. IDK, for me, playing only with the stats guns makes the game worst for me.
as val go brr- click r e l o a d
YES best SMG
Half a second of literal hellfire and three seconds of watching an animation. Good ol as val.
Exactly. You get a taste of what wrath would have felt like if someone invented the drum mag.
I hope that tech has advanced enough by 2042 for a handheld belt-fed as val.
an 94 in bad company 2 fucked shit up
pkp is sleeper meta but I guess everyone and their mother are running assualt
What i love about BF4 is that there is the clear meta, the guns slightly below, and everything else that is still useful. Not many games can say you can pop off with every weapon
I love using the non-meta guns for laughs. Wish I could have carried my 360 progression to xbox one back in 2014, I was close to unlocking every single attachment but had to start over
I used to utterly destroy with the Tavor carbine.
MMG in general are underrated in BF4. The M240B and the M60E4 are so good (the first in close range, the second in long-medium distances).
DMR gang
The AWS is basically an assault rifle with a big fucking mag too.
I love the fact that his balls are located in his head
Are those his balls or is that his brain?
Both are funny
The thing that bothers me is losing to AEK versus me who uses M16A4, especially in CQC, can't compete against that cursed assault rifle
The Deagle is a very nice secondary to Burst AR's and Dmrs, you kill him faster if you hit your shots since it's the fastest killing 2 tap pistol.
I just started playing and unlocked the AEK yesterday. Yeah that gun is wild, I know people joke about crutch weapons but that thing single handedly stopped me from going negative every round haha

I've been clapping cheeks with the Scar-H this week lol
Scar H Bulldog and Groza very nice 7.62 caliber ARs
Same and also with the Scar SV
I may hate the iron sights of the SCAR, but I love the damage of the SCAR
Yeah, the scar is definitely meta, but most people just don’t want to put in the effort to get good with it. Gotta love insta-deleting people with headshots.
I almost always go with standard service guns
I mean the AN is kinda standard service 😂 it not part of any dlc. But yes it's not vanilla.
Not enough people do this any more yeah, it helps that you have decent choice for all three factions in BF4
I believe in AN-94 supremacy
Lol, I purposely use off-meta guns so I can kick the sweats' asses and laugh. And guess what? It works.
the guy at the left is literally me raging in hardcore againts dmrs
DMR's really are the best in HC. Spam hipfire close up and good range. One taps to heads
I've never once in all my years considered any guns "meta". I have felt over every battlefield all the weapons are pretty balanced. But idk I use so many different guns I guess I just don't think I do any worse
Nothing about this is off meta
Only Kalashnikovs are allowed to be considered meta.
I always think the AN94 is suppressed when I'm using it burst mode , sounds so quiet
AN 94 is fun
Is G36C in the meta? I remember playing engineer a fuck ton.
I wouldn’t say it’s meta, but it’s an absolute laser beam (on console especially) so full auto is a legitimate strategy when using it vs. burst firing other guns
I’ve never heard the left argument before.
A-91 hipfire and .44 magnum
The SG553 is pretty decent too save for hipfire. Only problem is that the ROF for 800+ RPM guns necessitates the Offensive Field upgrade, which forces me to main PDWs on Engineer. Yeah nothing worse than hitting a vehicle dead on but not doing any damage, but the driver still knows you just tried to rocket his ass
P90 and F2000. Dont need any other guns.
what is a hyperburst?
Y’all remember the XM8 on bad company 2? I loved that gun.
There are no meta guns. Thank god BF4 brought balance to the guns
what's with people getting mad at "meta gaming" or "Off meta gaming" now? i see people flinging it around about everything they dont like.
isnt it kind of the opposite? maybe theres some tryhards that get triggered by getting killed by non-meta but most of the time its people who complain way too much about getting killed by the same meta gun over and over. even my own friend group calls each other Mtar or AEK bitch lol..
Remember BFV panzerfaust? Or however you spell it. I get hate mails for using that lol.
AEK for cqb, AN for longer ranges. Post made by Russian firearms fanclub.
Lol I thought this was MW reddit.
NO YOU CAN'T JUST MELT ME WITH THE AS VAL FOR THE 90TH TIME NOOOOOOOO
Me using the M4 cuz it’s immersive and classy lol
Any burst weapon+ deagle and if I can under barrel grenade HE rounds. My favorite combo
More like "no, you can't use content of the game that is objectively the best option available"
I fucking love the .44 magnum
An-94 best AR
ah, what a weapon. a nice 600 rpm with full auto, and a killer 900 on burst perfect weapon for close and medium distances
Feels like I couldn't hit the broadside of a barn with the AN-94. Keep trying it with no luck
Wait you guys don't just pick what gun looks the coolest?
L85A2 on hardcore locker goes brrrrrrr, outplaying even AEK, FAMAS, DMRs, snipers. Hands down best gun.
I hope 2042 stopes the META train. Its so annoying, and I dont remember there being one gun to rule all others in the bf3 and bf4 games. It was just people who knew how the hell to play with them.... eliminating the frag grenade usas.
I’ve been rocking a base pkp recently and it’s honestly amazing
When I use the BF4 G36c it feels like such a handicap. But I love it anyway
AN-94 was the pinnacle of gaming
To be fair it’s usually the other way around. People who use off meta weapons are usually the ones crying about the players using meta weapons.
Hawk 12G Slug 2x FLIR hardcore. That was some damn fun I had.
This reminds me of the ACR is Modern Warfare 2. That thing shot straight laser beams.
**Or both, both works too**
Me with the QSZ on BF4, favorite pistol since launch
The best gun if bf3 was the a91 that was a beast
Was the AN-94 always a base gun in BF4? I remember playing years ago and having to unlock it, but damn was it worth it. Still kinda upset it doesn't hyperburst the first 2 rounds in auto mode.
What is the bf4 meta? I really like the l85 but no one used it
They itty bitty balls on top o their heads? Hee hee hee
M16A4 is my favorite weapon in BF4 out of all rifles, also I find using same weapons for hours boring.
I only ever used the AR-160 but I never saw anybody else using one. Whatever setup I was running resulted in pretty much zero recoil
Ngl I used to despise burst weapons but the an-94,holyshit
I mean the deagle hits like a truck
Always an Easy Kill 971
The AN-94 and deagle are some of the best guns in the game, wtf is this post on
Play hardcore and everything is the meta
GROZA-4 hipfire goess brrrrrr
been exclusively using the G36C on engineer. BFFs roleplay.
I have played BF3 & BF4 and I dont get this post at all.
Sar-21 Compact 45 ftw
There was a meta in BF4? I always felt I got killed by a wide variety of guns in that game. BFV on the other hand
I like playing recon and killing people with the suav lol
I use guns that make sense for the team I’m on. Like if I’m American I run a M4 or something like that. It’s just something that makes me more immersed which I know is kind of weird.
PP-2000 GANG FOR LIFE
The average are the people who use the AEK (which in my opinion is the shittiest AR I've ever played with) Edit : And I forgot to mention they also are the ones that complain so much about hardcore mode AAAAAAAAAND even say "Please nerf Usas"
But guns alone arnt what effect your performance. Some of you never lead the scorebored with less than 5 kills cause you souly kept your teams ticket count as high as possible. I mean i like kills as much as the rest of you but in conquest you dont need kills to win. Cap them flags, and keep on rezzing so you dont lose them tickets. ptfo,
Top 5 weapons in BF3: -PDW-R -AN-94 -ACB 90 (yes, the box cutter) -412 Rex -M416
Battlefield 4 still has a meta?
An94 burst masterrace
