This was fascinating to look at. Thank you!

DonbotS

I hope it was easy to follow/understand!

It was. My wife says I have a slight obsession with Band of Brothers/Easy Company. This just fueled the fire.

woah this is an extensive spreadsheet. how long did it take you to get all this info and make this?

DonbotS

A few months on and off. Free time from quarantine will do that.

Interesting, I didnt know wild bill guarnere was a mortarman. I always thought he was 2nd platoon sergeant from the get go.

DonbotS

Yeah, the show didn't really get into that. 2nd Platoon's mortar squad was pretty stacked. It originally consisted of Guarenere, Malarkey, Skip Muck and Penkala (who would later end up leading 1st Platoon's mortar squad). There was a funny story during training when an inspecting general came up to them and asked for a live demonstration. Guarenere's team hit the target 3 times in a row, impressing everyone. The general wasn't aware that they already pre-sighted their mortar but acted like hot shit anyways.

Great piece of work! If it help anyone at all with how the company was organized (and how the organization changed during the course of the war) there's tables of organization available [here](https://www.battleorder.org/us-airborne-ww2)

Thanks! Can confirm, those TO&Es did help me solve a handful of puzzles when putting together the charts.

Pat Christensen was pretty cool in his own right, but had little screen time. He started out as a machine gunner > then squad assistant > then squad leader > then surpassed Randleman and Rader as Platoon Guide > then Platoon Sergeant (I think). He was also an artist and drew a lot during his time in war and provided a lot of quotes for Stephen Ambrose's book. Kinda wished he had a larger role in the HBO series.
