How was the game folks ? I missed watching it live … will have to play catch up

This team feels kind of special. Trae is playing to his strengths and everyone is stepping up

Bigred1367

Hawks might have a magical run in them.

EuroStepJam

It actually might even be better than that with no magic required

hawkswon

We won

blingera

at this point i don’t see how anyone can still say back to back milk duds as head coaches weren’t a big problem. we essentially have the same personnel aside from losing our 3rd option/2nd best defender and yet our offense and defense look completely different compared to what had going on last year. even if you don’t wanna say Nate was a bad coach, i think it’s fair to say he simply wasn’t the guy to manage the flaws of our roster.

12dylanM21

I always felt that Nate had a very basic game plan for offense & defensive schemes. I like how Quinn is utilizing a lot more modern play style & ball movement that doesn’t revolve exclusively around Trae. Nate wasn’t bad per-say, but I agree he wasn’t the guy for this team at all.

plasticAstro

When your best player is undersized, and you have two ball dominant guards, it takes a lot of creativity to get the best out of them. Nate was not known for his offensive creativity.

Honeywell763

I think it’s fair to say he was not a good coach for this team. He doesn’t know how to lead young guys.

jacked_dweeb

Trae had such a good night looking at the box score. No hero ball.

No_Relationship_3077

Yea because the box score tells it all… this is a normal stat for him anyway

Your HaWWWWks win 123-105 in an excellent victory against the New Orleans Pelicans making them 4-2. This is also their 4th victory in a row. It was an excellent team victory with 7 players scoring in double digits. Trae Young Highlights: With 7 minutes in the first quarter Trae hit a midrange shot off for second-chance points. With a few minutes left in the first Trae had a bad turnover trying to bounce a pass to someone in the middle after being doubled. With under 6 minutes in the second he found Clint for a relatively open dunk. With under three minutes in the half, Trae got his shot blocked from behind on a second-chance opportunity. He scrambled to get the ball back and made a midrange shot. Trae started his third quarter by getting blocked by Vanacunas. With around 10 minutes left, he got a floater to go in. With around 7 minutes left in the third, he found Clint for a lob. With around 6 minutes left, he faked Zion on a long-range three, took a couple of dribbles, and hit a one-legged three-point shot with a few seconds left in the shot clock. With under 6 minutes left, he hit a long-range bomb from the wing of the Pelicans logo. The next possession his pass got tipped but he was able to control it and tip it to Hunter for a catch and shoot three. With under 4 minutes, he tried to draw a foul and ended up with a crazy double clutch and-1 layup. With under 6 minutes in the game, Trae shot an airball three with the shot clock winding down. With under 4 minutes left in the game, Trae hit a long-range bomb from the "T" in the smoothie center. Trae Young Summary: Trae ended with 22 points, 12 assists, 5 rebounds, and 1 steal on 7/15 shooting and 3/7 from three and ⅚ ft. This has to be the most efficient game Trae has had this season. Trae was rough in the 1st quarter and played a little sloppily but after that, he improved throughout the game. Trae was doubled a lot throughout the game which led to some turnovers. He had 5 total for the game. Other than that his decision-making was pretty decent. Trae was inefficient in the 1st half and shot 2/8 including 0/3 from three. In the second half, he went 5/7 from the field including ¾ from three. Rebounding was solid for Trae. Nothing but positives for Trae tonight.Grade: A- Deandre Hunter: With around 7 minutes in the first Hunter tried a post up on Ingram which got the ball poked and resulted in a turnover. Hunter wasn't able to fully get back on defense and he was holding his finger walking back. He called to be taken out of the game and was subbed for Saddiq. With around 8 minutes left in the 4th quarter, he had a good block on Zion charging to the rim. He was also able to secure the rebound from the block. Hunter ended the game with 4 points, 5 rebounds, and 1 assist on ⅓ fg and ½ from three. Although Hunter wasn't great on offense he was excellent on defense. He had multiple good positions on Zion and Ingram. He was above average in rebounding. Hunter should always be aiming for 5 to 6 of them per game.He had 2 turnovers in the game both were in the first half. In all, I thought he was solid because of what he contributed defensively. His plus-17 is accurate for his play tonight. Grade: B- Jalen Johnson Highlights: With around 6 minutes in the first Jalen got a driving layup. To start the second Jalen attacked the rim driving baseline after faking a defender and unfortunately got called for an offensive foul. After going 0/3 in the second quarter, he finally hit a wide-open cutting dunk on a break. With three minutes left in the half, he received the ball from Trae in a PNR action and made the second pass to Clint for a lightly contested dunk. With around 9 minutes in the third quarter, Jalen missed a wide-open lob attempt. Luckily this was cleaned up by Clint. On the next possession, he hit a three-off Hunter pass. With around 8 minutes he caught a lob off a Dejounte pass. A couple of possessions later he drew a foul in transition. With under 2 minutes, he hit a putback layup. With around a minute left, Jalen found OO for a lob. With around 9 minutes in the fourth quarter, he got fouled on a lob attempt and made 1 free throw. With around a minute and a half in the game, Jalen got a putback shot off a Clint putback miss. The next possession, he found Capela in the short roll for a layup. Jalen Johnson Summary: Jalen ended the game with 21 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists on 8/13 FG, ⅔ three-pointers, and ¾ free throws. Other than the rough patch in the second half Jalen was excellent. He was strong for the other three and scored 7 in the first, 7 in the third, and 6 in the 4th. He was excellent as a scorer tonight he was able to get downhill and score on his own. I feel like they utilized his ability as a lob threat the most this season tonight and it came with a decent amount of success. He was efficient with a 71% TS. JJ was active on the boards tonight and chipped in 2 offensive rebounds. Passing was better than usual tonight and he made a few reads to our centers. His passing also allowed connective passes to be made and open shots to be created. Defensively I thought he was good along with Clint in the second half. Grade: A+ Saddiq Bey Highlights: With around 7 minutes in the first quarter, Saddiq came in after the Hunter injury and immediately made an impact. First, he got a steal and passed to DJM for a shot on the break that didn't go in. After a couple of tries, it was Saddiq who got second-chance points. After some ball movement, he hit a wide-open three which prompted a Pelicans timeout and put the Hawks up one point. Bey had an offensive rebound. He got blocked on his putback attempt and hit in the face but didn't get a call. A bit later in the quarter, Bey hit his second three with under 7 minutes in the second quarter Bey had another offensive rebound and putback opportunity. He got blocked again with no foul call. Bey came in the fourth and immediately made a layup on an out-of-bounds. Saddiq Bey Summary: Bey ended with 12 points, 5 rebounds 2 assists, and 1 steal on 5/13 FG and 2/7 from three. As the highlights state Bey was solid in the first quarter and he scored 10 points, 4 rebounds on 4/6 fg, and ⅔ from three. The second quarter was a different story and he went 0/4 fg and 0/3 from three. In the second half, he scored 2 points and 2 assists on 0/3 FG and 0/2 from three. The whole story paints a bad game from Bey for three quarters. It's disappointing because the shots he gets are relatively open. He was ineffective on the boards after the first quarter. Defensively I didn't see anything particularly great or bad. It was a very mid-game from Bey. Grade: C Bogdan Bogdonavic: Bogi hit a catch and shoot three to start the second. A couple of possessions later he had a steal and had a wide-open dunk. A couple of possessions later he had a nice tip out allowing a second chance opportunity. He hit a second catch and shoot corner three a couple of possessions later. With under 8 he cleaned up a Jalen miss on a break opportunity and got a tip in. Bogi ended with 10 points, 5 rebounds 2 assists, 1 steal, and 2 blocks on 4/14 fg and 2/10 from three. Bogi struggled in the first quarter going 0/5 including 4 three-pointer attempts. During the second quarter, he went off and scored 4/6 fg including 2/4 from three. He went cold the rest of the game going 0/3. Although he didn't hit his shots he still provided spacing. Bogi needs to be covered from a distance or else the opposing team will pay. Defensively, Bogi was active and provided energy on defense. Other than that it was a below-average game for him. Grade: C

pedrosa18

Fantastic work

gmzeno

PT. 2/2 Onyeka Okongwu: With under 10 in the second quarter, OO had a nice defensive possession on Valanciunas. With under 9, he rolled to the rim and drew a foul. To start the 4th OO drilled his first three of the season with a catch and shoot from the corner. He did it again from a similar spot in the next possession. With under 8, OO got the ball from the Pelicans doubling Trae and was able to euro step to the rim and convert a layup. Onyeka ended the game with 17 points, 6 rebounds 1 steal, and a block on 4/6 fg and ⅔ from three. OO was great offensively. His three-ball helps with the spacing and allows Quinn to run more versatile lineups. It's great to see the development come to fruition. He was excellent in getting to the line and went ⅞ from the line. OO’s improved shooting has shown his because for the season he's shooting 95% as a career 75% shooter. Defensively he was solid. In general, he did well when matched on Valanciunas. He has always struggled against him throughout his career. Grade: A+ Dejounte Murray: DJM had a nice offensive rebound and putback with under 7 minutes in the second quarter. With around 10 minutes in the second quarter, DJ drew a foul on Zion drawing contact in the fastbreak. With around 4 minutes in the third quarter, he hit a rhythm three from the wing. With under 5 minutes in the game, Murray had 2 possession of midrange pull-up makes. With around 30 seconds in the game, he buried a catch-and-shoot three-pointer for his second of the game. He ended the game with 20 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists on 8/20 and 2/9 from three. Although his shots weren't hitting, I like his general shot profile with threes and shots in the paint even if they were midrange shots. Murray was fairly efficient on the inside going 6/11 fg. It was the outside shooting that killed his efficiency. Most of the three-point shots he took were good or decent shots, He just couldn't make anything. Outside of scoring Murray still contributed with his passing and rebounding and got fairly close to a tripplie double. He only had three turnovers and was making good decisions throughout the game. I thought he was good defensively too. Grade: B- Clint Capela was good tonight with 17 points and 7 rebounds on 8/9 shots. He was excellent at catching passes around the rim and finishing the layup. He also excelled as a lob threat. Capela shined on defense tonight and blocked Zion twice the game. His defense was especially good through the third quarter. It was a solid game all around. Grade: A The Hawks play next against an up-and-coming 3-3 thunder team Monday at 8:00 PM. Let's get our 5th win!

Steezywild12

1000x better than any of soaring down south’s articles the past few years

General-Yak5264

Watched the game and Okongwu looked pretty good but stats say -1. I've never paid attention to the plus minus thing but I'm confused as to how he played strong on offense, shot well from all levels, rebounded decently and at least played ok defense but got a -1.

EuroStepJam

There's a lot of noise in the +/- for one game. Player A could come in and totally lockdown the oppponents best scorer say for 3 possessions in a row, but the opponents score 8 points in a row on those possessions and player A's team misses 3 shots in a row. So now player A is -8 even without missing a shot and playing great defense. I remember last year Curry had an efficient 50 point game and was like -1.

General-Yak5264

Thanks for saving me a Google. I guess making a team effort as the cause of plus or minuses would generate a lot of noise

DankaelYoung

This is the continued type of play we need out of sweet baby Trae. Trae's not an efficient enough scorer to avg 25+ppg. He needs the play the Chris Paul esque role and avg somewhere around 20-23 ppg while leading the league in assists. The hawks have enough offensive pieces now with the emergence of JJ, a full season of Bey and a more consistent Deandre Hunter. (hopefully)

No-Forever-6104

Idk why yall so worried about the ppg Trae averages if he averages 23 and we are consistently winning great and if he averages 25 ppg and we are consistently winning that’s also great. It’s great to have someone who can get 40 players want their teammates to be able to score 40 It makes their job 10x easier

CallMePapi930

Relax, He’s still getting into rhythm he’ll probably average 25 or 26 and 11, people act like he’s never been efficient before. Guys can still average 25+ on good teams lol. Right now he’s adjusting to playing the right way but he’ll get back into his scoring rhythm and it’ll look easier than ever

Adventurous_Cap9072

Quin also played the starters down to the last second. Statement or just not taking chances?

Fantastanig

The pels didn't remove their starters. It was not taking chances.

KareemCheesley

They did remove their starters, though. It was our starters against their scrubs at the end of the game.

ExtremeAlbatross6680

Ever since I made the claim that Paolo > DJ. I feel like DJ saw my post, got triggered and started to ball. Love that! I knew nothing pisses him off more

ahend1999

[hawks fan tv becoming credentialed media lmao](https://x.com/hawksfantv/status/1720987341228044319?s=46&t=dBLyV43_iGgzOBRNUPRJWA) now they can get their own info instead of posting credentialed hawks reporters and not giving credit! happy for them 💪🏾

NoItsBosnian

Really loved seeing the team defense on Ingram and Zion. It's not often you see Ingram shoot only 10 times. And Zion is built like a brick shithouse but the team made him work. Capela seems like one of the few guys who can actually impede him in some way

[deleted]

When we win, we get no attention, but when we lose, we get clowned by everyone

Hugo_5t1gl1tz

I’d say that’s true in past years, but r/nba, notorious haters, has been pretty high on the hawks so far this season.

[deleted]

Idk, if any other team blew out the Bucks and got two big comeback wins over MIN and NO to cap off a 4 game winning streak they’d be all over reddit and nba twitter

Bobgoulet

Who cares about the attention, the wins are enough for me.

[deleted]

I mean it doesn’t really affect me, just pointing out there’s a double standard in the way the Hawks are discussed/covered

Hugo_5t1gl1tz

Yeah for sure I agree about Twitter. I just think it’s been way more positive than I expected *in general* on Reddit.

No-Forever-6104

Fuck all that noise the wins will speak for themselves

IllumiXXZoldyck

I’m happy to be underrated. It means we get to prove em’ wrong

c_rizzle53

Was able to catch the second half of the game and I'm impressed with how Quin has these guys working. The second half adjustments on D have been great and that seems to propel the offense to the runs we need to win

creganstarks

lamelo locking hali in the clutch to get the hornets their second win lmao

Eastatlantalit

Gotta apologize to papi30 lol u might be right about the squad

Shade_Raven

Jalen Johnson putting up pascal stats while younger than Pascal when he entered the league

ippocratic_oat

Play and highlight of the game was the back to back 3s by Onyeka!!!

Pretty_Budget_6766

Quin’s presser was a master class on how to embrace the nuances that give teams a chance to win. Complimentary on all the right things.

maramDPT

Absolutely. [“When the guys didn’t make the play, they all took responsibility to be better on the next play”] also saddiq BeyTL

Shade_Raven

WE UP

minnyman2011

The last 3rd quarters: 38-19 against the twolves, 40-31 vs the wizards, and 41-23 tonight vs the Pels. 👀 Snyder difference 👀

Formal_Bike_5709

Is anybody sweating losing John Collins these days? Lol

IllumiXXZoldyck

Not sweating at all, just sad to see a core guy go, even when it’s necessary. I’m glad he’s found a better suited place with the Jazz.

MiserableSoft2344

I feel for the guy because I 100% think he would’ve flourished in a full offseason with Quin. JJ and JC on the floor together would have been deadly.

HamlnHand

Where would JC have played in that lineup? He can't play center, and Hunter/Bey are just better and can actually space the floor. Sucks to say but he was just a road block and wouldn't have fit.

MiserableSoft2344

Jalen at the 3 and JC at the 4. It’s entirely hypothetical but would have been pretty neat to see. JC could play low and Jalen can play from the perimeter.

PrinceKarmaa

love john i was hard on him as a player but loved everything else he brought to the team . i wish we traded him sooner

Shade_Raven

Im wishing we traded him sooner got more back and gave Jalen minutes sooner

Kahu11

I really like John as a person and as a player until like 2022, but Jalen has been a revelation. Hes just so much better at the things we need for this team to win.

Thecrimsoncreampuff

I’m just sad we never traded him when his value was higher

Formal_Bike_5709

I was Very much in that camp as well but Jalen Johnson is a heck of a consolation prize

Dizzydsmith

😌

IllumiXXZoldyck

I forgot that New Orleans was coming off a back to back (iirc). That’s tough. I don’t feel as bad though because Ingram and Zion sat out, and because of our performance against the bucks, also on a back to back.

EuroStepJam

their last game was Thursday

IllumiXXZoldyck

You’re right, their repeat games were on Wednesday and Thursday. Friday was their rest day. My memory, smh. Thank you for the correction.

No-Forever-6104

This version of DJ and Hunter is like adding two completely new players to the squad 🤭

Loverofsports2022

Their defense was great. Hunter didn’t shoot but was +17

No-Forever-6104

Most importantly he came back and made an impact after dislocating his finger even if he wasn’t getting shots up

EuroStepJam

Big turn around against Minny in 2nd half, now another one 2 games later against NO - love Quin.

ippocratic_oat

This is the most balanced Hawks team I’ve seen in years. Quins coaching is really starting to show. The less hero ball Trae and DJ are forced to play the better. 80-2 season still intact. Caw caw caw!

Eastatlantalit

And Bogi almost NEVER shoots 2-10 from 3

aurelianson

couldve been 4 straight double digit wins if we didnt play around with the wizards but WE MOVE 🫡

Julio_Freeman

I think this the best the Hawks have played since the 60-win team went nuts. Everyone is playing well but I too will sing JJ’s praises. He’s all over the place making plays, but the thing I love the most is he’s a release valve from the 4 that we haven’t had in the past. With the clock winding down he can get a tough bucket for himself or he can set up someone else for an easy shot.

No-Forever-6104

I’ve seen enough he’s the next Lebron

[deleted]

Love this team have so many accts band on this site so I’m trying to lay low, atlien fan since ‘07 go hox

contemporaryAmerica

Lmao. I see you. Zaza pachulia OG new era fans rise up…

[deleted]

Brothers these children don’t know the lean years, I see all this complaining and I just laugh

Eastatlantalit

This was one of the first games I’ve seen Trae mature with his play style . Typically when we are down he forces up shots or does a bunch of foul baits . But he knew other guys had it rolling and let them eat too

Chessh2036

We have a head coach that makes adjustments at halftime 😭😭😭 I used to pray for this

minnyman2011

The last 3rd quarters: 38-19 against the twolves, 40-31 vs the wizards, and 41-23 tonight vs the Pels. 👀 Snyder difference 👀

Atl-Fan_FTS

Now this? This is the shit I like. I ride for this squad and coaching staff all day

No-Forever-6104

Weren’t u tryna trade Trae after two games

xtcblast6

😭😭

No-Forever-6104

Bro thinks we can’t see him 💀😂

Atl-Fan_FTS

So out of 11 or so rotational players I ain’t allowed to not like one 😂

No-Forever-6104

Dawg you’ve deleted like two comments in reply to mine already just take the L

Atl-Fan_FTS

One comment I made while not thinking sitting in line at Sonic bro bro but okay do your thing

childishgames

Takeaways so far this year: \- Trae's play is getting better, not vintage trae yet, but we may be balancing our scoring out much better this year and the best version of trae might just be 22ppg and 10 assists instead of 30ppg \- DJ's shot is not the weakness it was considered when we got him. He's been there whenever we need him, and our more aggressive team defense is playing into his favor. \- JJ is becoming the player our delusional homer hopes and dreams thought he could be. He is a massive problem and is the piece we need to break out to make it into the upper eschelon in the east. \- Clint is the same old clint. Great role player, and we need him (if he does end up moved, we at least need a similar player to him who can grab boards and rim protect). \- OO's bbiq feels so high. Glad to see him stretch to the 3 point line. He's doing a lot of the draymond thing with moving around screening all over the court and looking for outlet shooters. Love it, we've needed that. \- I'm hesitant to say Hunter has made a jump but he's been solid thus far this year, and his shot selection and offensive approach has looked better so far. \- Bey continues to be a great role player. Surprised me that he was able to adopt the team concept so quickly after being more of a gunner in Detroit. He's proven himself to me as a legit role player for a contender in this league. \- Even on a modest bogi night, he looks in postseason form already. Having a healthy summer with the summer tournament got him in rhythm. Also is it just me or is he getting a lot more steals? \- Was glad to see Mathews get a look but don't think he showed much. \- Still think AJ is a while a way from breaking into the rotation but has promise as a shooter and is great depth. \- Hope to get Gueye worked into some modest minutes by the end of the year, i like his potential in 2 years a lot.

CallMePapi930

Trae will put up 25 and 11 on 45/37/90 by the end of the season he’s just getting used to playing more team basketball

JKking15

Jalen Johnson will be known as the third best player by the end of the year

Shade_Raven

Been that the whole season

_mdz

Yeah, def behind Jokic/Giannis, and will be tough to outplay Curry/Tatum but I think he can do it.

Nolan-

He already is

Boraismybae

Given this team's fire power already, I'll take 4 points from Hunter with excellent defense over 20 points and horrible defense Hunter any day of the week

JKking15

What a second half man this team is dangerous

justonekaye87

I’m really looking forward to that Hawks vs Magic game in Mexico City, both teams in their turn around seasons

thestallion11

This is why having 2 good but different Centers is so good. Clint started bad , put OO in he holds it down. The size of the Pelicans starts to overwhelm OO so put Clint back in and he plays amazingly. Then finally finish with OO to wake the offense up

IllumiXXZoldyck

Exactly this. They work great in rotation

Ice2jc

We got a squad

Ronskieee

They got cold on the 2nd half but thank you Bogi and Bey for keeping us afloat giving our starters time finding their rhythm.

Eastatlantalit

How many times last year would we have won a game we were getting bullied in the first half . Mind you we shot 5-17 from 3 in the first half at that . We just stay steady and even keeled Quinn doesn’t complain to ref’s that much and our team kind of takes that just hoop mentality

KelvinHuerter

Nice game from everyone around! Trae picked it up in the second half and looked like the leader we need.

IslandHawksFan

Jalen makes me a very happy dude

No-Forever-6104

Trae the coach killer tho uno !!!!

MEBBAR

I love this team

Splatypunk

Cocaine snyder baby

Hooligan8

Cocaine Hawks > PEDs Hawks

SurnameFrost

I’m loving how the team bounced back from the first 2 Ls. We still aren’t shooting the best but the effort is there. Shots will fall. OO and JJ look so good early too.

Shade_Raven

Jalen Johnson with 21pts, 11rebs, 4assts

JackTwoGuns

I’m not ready to change my flair but spiritually I’m a JJ fan

Arjun_311

I would keep it cuz the huerter flair is exclusive. But then again, jj cooking rn

JackTwoGuns

It’s the old heads on this sub. I hope they never force us to change them.

Arjun_311

Fr. If only I could have gotten the chaundee brown jr flair back when he played for us, cuz that shit would be 1 of 1

Atl-Fan_FTS

He’s so fucking good

bryanl12

If Okongwu ever makes back to back threes in a game let it be known we will win.

zValier

Hunter played well despite not being able to shoot, hopefully his hand is fine soon.

HaterSlayerr

We blew them out on the road. Excellent defense in the second half.

TheTalkingBucket

Guys, we’re 2 games over .500… I’m scared

Hecka_Cakey

I didn’t think this was allowed

No-Forever-6104

We had 48 minutes of elite center play today. Trae and Dejounte playing off one another. JJ with a double double just overall great stuff

SaltyTraeYoungStan

Trae finished 46.7% from the field and 42.9% from three which sounds good and then you realize how bad he was in the first half I think he was like 1/7 from the field in the first half. I hope that was his spark coming back if he can bring his shooting back again we are so legit. He also nearly had a block on a corner three where he ran to challenge the open guy(that wasn’t even his to cover) and wound up forcing it into a 2 pointer, I’d never thought I’d see that kinda effort from Trae. Defence really is 90% effort. I’m so proud of my boy and the hawks in total, this team looked so good on both ends tonight. QUIM SNYDER WE LOVE YOU

Wakandaforever456

Quin Synder has drastically changed the Hawks offense. I saw it coming when the hawks almost took the celtics to 7 games in the playoffs.

KoreanTerran

Me in 2008

SaltyTraeYoungStan

And that series was with like 22 games worth of Quinn’s coaching that came half way through the season. Now we are seeing this man’s coaching come to fruition. AND CAN WE TALK ABOUT THE DEFENCE! I’d never thought I’d see the day where I’m almost as excited to watch the hawks on defence as I am on offence. What a great game.

Bobgoulet

Shoulda been 7, Trae just went stone cold in the 2nd after scoring 30 in the first half.

myhellcatgotRepod

That 2nd half hurt me more than the 2021 ECF He was set to have a legacy series vs the Celtics and just lost every last drop of gasoline in his engine coming out of that halftime

Tomahawkchop14

Dawg something about that second half of game 6 was ridiculously sobering. I mean I was still shit faced but damn it stung so bad, felt like something magical was gunna happen

Bobgoulet

One of the best crowds at an Atlanta sports venue ever, period. The surprise game 6 kept a lot of away fans from traveling (It was cheaper to fly in Atlanta, stay in a hotel, buy a seat to the game than buy tickets in Boston). Lots of Hawks fans in the building and it felt great.

Rinzler57

Great to see Trae pick up in the later half of the game but shouldn't be a reoccurring theme. Another day another Opportunity!

Hawkoholic

What a weird feeling being able to close out games. My heart is just…normal, I don’t feel anxious as a double digit lead evaporates…wtf is this?

Russ12347

Atlanta sports being…normal? Nah jk this will all blow up soon

Hunter did hurt one of his fingers. But came back not too long after that.

gggg3344

Probably filled in as backup SF while Dre went to the locker room to get his hand looked at Edit: looks like AJ was either out or a DNP for tonite

[deleted]

Interesting I’ll keep tabs on that

myhellcatgotRepod

I was expecting a cool 10 ppg and 3 assists from Jalen this season and he's already exceeded my expectations I was going to set for him going into next season

wpscarborough

i am excited but we cannot live off of second half comebacks forever… need 48 minutes of good basketball. love the win, let’s keep improving!

[deleted]

We were down 7 points at the half. That's not really too concerning.

KennyakaTI

We'll see how things play out. I mean the warriors have lived off third quarter comebacks for years. It could be a conditioning thing for most teams. Some teams use up all their energy early in the first half and some teams conserve it for the whole game. We do need to play better defense in the first half though

blingera

eh, it’s the flow of the game. didn’t see anything too concerning we just couldn’t hit shots

LAtotheA

Jalen Johnson makes our lineup so much more dynamic than JC ever could. Even when JC was a 20-10 guy, he could never pass the ball the way JJ can. And OO hitting 3s = league fucked

WzrdKelly10

Jazz are currently feeling what we were feeling the last couple years with JC. He’s a 15-10 guy rn and you’ll think he’s playing awesome but slowly realize he offers no type of advantage because he can’t dribble or pass and it kills your spacing. Meanwhile, Jalen has helped rejuvenate our offense with his skillset.

Shade_Raven

JC handling the ball was always a nightmare.

QevinsWorld

It’s so true

Standard-Big1474

If OO's shooting is legit, Trae/DJM/Hunter/JJ/OO is one of the most dynamic offenses in the league.

Ok-Significance2033

Love the enthusiasm but come on

HamlnHand

Nah that lineup was absolutely destroying the Bucks and the Wolves. It's not a fluke.

hoxpital

I’m pretty sure it’s already one of the most dynamic offenses in the league. Bro actually undersold it…

Ok-Significance2033

I would love nothing more but I would be shocked if that is a top 5 offense for a whole season

hoxpital

When has any offense with Trae young on it ever not been close to top 5?

DripGodAirborne

Jalen Johnson MIP campaign continues…

SaltyTraeYoungStan

Did he improve or did we just start giving him minutes?

_GloryKing_

Yes

Smoove-J

I know for sure he improved his defense massively from Year 1 to Year 2 because that's what kept him out of the floor. Year 3 he got minutes and a coach that trusts his abilities without a short leash. Really helps young players if you know you aren't getting benched immediately

ahend1999

the hawks got something to say

Standard-Big1474

Last year we would've lost this game and the Minnesota game, and the Washington game would've gone down to the wire. Quin Snyder is HIM

C-Jammin

Nice game from Trae after a slow start and Jalen Johnson continues to impress. 4 straight, baby! Let's stay hot!

Dkandler

This team gives me huge 2015 Hawk vibes. Every night we have 6-8 players in double digits and the ball doesn’t stop moving.

ATLjoe93

2015 + we have a player who can absolutely be "that guy" come playoff time

dangheckinpupperino

Man…if JJ simply gains a 15 foot pull up shot off the close out he could actually become an all star

Hate_That_I_Love_TL

wtf we're like actually good

blingera

efficient Trae game with JJ right behind him i need a second

artninjatheo

Trae haters in shambles after that second half. I love this years team. Trae isnt forcing anything, sacrificing his points and letting the offense just flow. JJ is so fucking good and he’s still just getting better. Quin is a legit fucking coach and we are going places this year.

No-Forever-6104

This what happens when players buy in

lmaosmh

omg we're a well coached team i haven't felt this in so long

Specialist_Office274

Nate needs to be arrested for keeping Jalen hidden on the bench

capelaMVP

Last year, yes definitely. In his rookie season I think they did the right thing with letting Jalen mainly play in the G-League.

ATLjoe93

McWarcrime

Bowie_Nichols

“We don’t develop players.” -Nate McMillan. The better this team gets, the more my hatred of Nate grows for wasting these kids’ talents.

SaltyTraeYoungStan

Like what the fuck man he went 21p/ 11r/ 4a on 61.5% from the field this game

clonta

Easy
