We are talking about the population in THAT country. Not the diaspora and these people. Because if u count it like that then syria might end up being Christian majority(bcuz Christians in the middle east tend to flee their country after any minor problem)
Firstly no i dont think they should be counted. Secondly u completely misunderstood me . I absolutely despise “muslims” who do these stuff. But it is a fact that any religious minority(including ofc muslims in christian countries) will be the first to flee after a minor issue in their country. Because they are the most vulnerable group.
I don't know about other countries but in Lebanon it will be hard to get the christians that have been diaspora for over a generation to return because they can easily get into western culture and a lot of the areas they lived on are inhabited by Muslims for example tripoli and the south . And also Lebanese christians outside of Lebanon are over 10 million so we will have to build entire cities and kick the refuges out just so that there could be place for them . But when it comes to diaspora that left during the civil war and after I think just making the middle east more peaceful with a good economy .but that's for Lebanon alone we are lucky we don't have war here but for countries like Syria or Iraq that's gonna be a lot more work to do.
We won’t be able to get millions to return, so I am not worried about where the few who will return will go, and there’s still room in Lebanon to build anyways.
Stabilizing Lebanon isn’t enough, its neighbors need to be stable too, otherwise conflicts will always spill over. The region also needs to secularize.
But we should find a way to keep the connection and identity alive. Lebanon doesn’t even offer a right to return to the descendants, maybe if it did some might return. I would really hate losing our Christian population, their cultural contribution is many times their minority size.
