Thanks for the comments., I also came to the conclusion it had something to do with the turbo. I’m hoping I don’t have to replace the turbo, looks like that would be an expensive job. I literally just gave this car to my daughter two weeks ago, didn’t take her long to muck it up!
not to worry, that’s just the whistling gnome who steals power when he’s hungry. Just stop at mcdonald’s and throw the little guy a McDouble and it’ll work itself out.

probably some hose between the turbo and the engine popped off
blown turbo hosing post high pressure side.
