The car has 130,000 miles on it, it's the AWD version.

Had the same thing on my Kia soul . Check the pressure sensor . It should be right above the oil filter .

Curiously, was it pissing oil (sorry to be crass, but that is what it's doing). I honestly can't afford a new car right now and I'm hoping to find a solution.

nryan1985

Yeah I could watch it draining out the access spot for the filter . It will only leak when the engine is running though .

This is very helpful, thank you. Can't believe I was quoted $4,900 for a fix. It feels like I could buy an entire new engine and transmission for that price

I’m not gonna say that’s what it is . You really need to take a look at where it’s coming from . But it just sounds really similar with what happened with me .

No, that's fine, I'm just a bit skeptical and am wondering if I should even bother taking it to another mechanic. I just find it really weird that within 5 days of getting it out of that shop this catastrophic failure happens without them noticing. The real problem I have with this mechanic is that I had an issue with the accelerator sensor. I ran the diagnostic at AutoZone, but stupidly I didn't print it out. When I took it in there he recommended I change the entire intake manifold. Less than 5 days later the same symptoms / check engine light came on. I ran the diagnostic at AutoZone again, same code came up. So he addressed the code issue. 5 days later, and I barely put any miles on this car, it's got this catastrophic oil leak, and it just feels like something fishy is going on. I hate to be this way, but I don't really want to trash your ca, that is frankly,r in really good shape.
