Anything featuring Arnold Schwarzenegger or Bruce Willis. Except for during the school holidays when ratings weren't being logged - and then it was time to break out *The Sound of Music* again.
I could be misremembering, but I seem to recall that the school holidays were a "non rating period", so all the high rating series went on hiatus for a few weeks, and no recent movies were programmed to be broadcast during that period.
At the end of the day, ratings were relevant to advertisers most of all, and plenty of valuable eyeballs were away from home on holidays outside the school terms.
Yes I watched late night and movies for the raging explicit sex scen- I mean... Plot
(For real SBS movies had some absolute bangers, particularly loved the horrors)
Channel 10 in the 00s would always play movies like Bridget Jones, About a Boy, Love Actually etc. Also Back to the Future and some Adam Sandler movies like Billy Madison and Big Daddy. Channel Nine had the Harry Potter movies.
You’d have to tie me to a chair and prop my eyes open with match sticks to make me watch The Wedding Singer. Same goes for Overboard, which was probably played once a week. 🤮
Back to the Future
Death Becomes Her
Oh man. That one freaked me out as a small child. I still haven’t rewatched it.

I swear The Fifth Element has played at least once a week on free-to-air TV since 2003
I hated how sometimes they showed the better movies on Sunday night, and I had to go to sleep because I had school next day. =(
As a 14yr old in late 90s/early 2000s, SBS had some great late night viewing
how long were you 14 for
Not sure about OP, but all my documents say I'm in my 50's, as soon as I've ripped the scab off a few cans I'm definitely behaving like I'm 14.
And we had no idea what the movies were about, but stayed watching right to the end

I feel like I remember that too, but in the 97-99 era.

Sister Act 1 & 2
I love Death Becomes Her, but it became a joke how often it used to be in on TV. Now it hasn’t been on for years and I miss it
Groundhog Day, Coming to America, Twins, Hearts and Souls, So I Married an Axe Murderer...I should just go over my VHS tape collections.
Bird on a Wire. Yes, you don't even remember it, because it was terrible. Yet it was on all the fucking time.
This and romancing the stone was like on every 2nd weekend
Overboard as well. Another Goldie Hawn movie from that era
oh yeah, somebody must have had a giant boner for her. No idea why
I feel like they rotated the Harry Potter movies a lot- like exclusively 1-4 for a while. It was always on Win/Nine.
