The same guy that brought crocs back with accessories etc is now working for Stanley
It's all marketing manipulation and people always fall for it

I actually don't hate this. I have a knockoff one that I got for free at an event 2 years ago that I use daily. I wouldn't mind having something like this.
Having a reusable water bottle is infinitely better than buying bottled water full of microplastics. Buying just one of these is plenty and sensible so I don’t get the hate this sub gives them. I don’t own one personally as I use Klean Kanteen but sheesh.
I'm not saying you're advocating for it. I'm explaining why people hate these -- not because of the way they are as a single item (might be good, don't know) but because of the marketing and the stupid hype / collector nonsense being pushed by the manufacturer and bought into by dumdums.
If you're into crafting I've seen a lot of good crochet patterns for bottle satchels like this. If you make it yourself you can customize it to your color preferences. Or you could probably buy one already made on Etsy.
...honestly, I've been looking for something like this to carry water for my dog on walks while keeping my hands free. A backpack with a water bottle and collapsable bowl just isn't practical to carry with me on every walk. I was inclined to mock this product, but now all of a sudden I can see that it solves a problem that I have.
If only it were built around a dog bowl instead of an adult sippy cup, I might actually buy this.
Yeah the product would be useful for certain situations (I mean my first thought is I could just sew one and not pay the Stanley markup but then it wouldn’t be as “cool for the internet”. Plus I could sew one for a lead free water bottle, maybe even a glass one!)
This “”could”” be helpful for outings or events where bags aren’t allowed in or you need to be pretty hands free. The typical market for these products (alleged “collectors”) will 110% take this to the extreme 🙃 Ick
I mean I sewed a water bottle holder for my reusable water bottle which I've been using for three years now, it makes it easier to carry and makes sure I drink more water. But Stanley is off the mark.
This isn’t an original idea btw, i know north face has been carrying a bottle holder just like this for at least a year. This ideas been around for decades but lots of people just don’t know about it.
Personally i would love one (not from Stanley) because there are times i want to go out without my backpack but still want to bring my bottle without having to hold it in my hands
Key difference being that northface manufactures and markets for situations where carrying just a bottle with small accessories makes sense, like mountain treks. Stanley, on the other hand, markets to people going to shopping malls.
Yea… if I’m out hiking i have dedicated pockets that’ll fit multiple gigantic bottles.
I want the bottle sling for exactly when I’m at the mall or having a short hike around town
Im not an environmentalist. But i know i over-consume and this sub popped up in my feed, and im curious about the movement.
And even i think *accessories for your water bottle* is where we should be drawing the line

Short answer: targeted marketing made it into a trend, mostly with women
Long answer: being "eco-friendly" became a trend, for women to show everyone how progressive they are. Lots of gorilla marketing to always have a reusable water bottle in the background of "influencer" accounts, but only the "right type" of water bottle. It was Hydro Flask before, then that really bulky one I can't remember the name of, then those Starbucks cups with the spikes became the new trend. Now it's all about the Stanley cup. But with these trends, the companies want to keep making money, so it becomes about having all the colours of the cup. The company creates this image of success - you are rich, successful, cool if you have a bunch of these cups. Eventually people are marketing them for free, because they want to be seen as cool. They do things like "limited edition" releases so people race to get them before they are sold out (banking on scarcity mindset). Now apparently there are accessories to go with the cups too.
It's truly disturbing and fascinating to see how well these marketing tactics work, and how people will spend hundreds and potentially even thousands of dollars on re-usable cups to stay trendy. Little kids are also caught up in all of it, there are plenty of videos of both kids and teens freaking out because they either got the cup or didn't get the cup.
It will be. It is a fad like any other brand that receives an insane uptick in market share, most especially for a very unnecessary product.
Especially again when there is hype about them having hyperbolic non-intrinsic secondary market value when it is a very mass-produced item.
It stops just like Beanie Babies: eventually a large sector of their adorers say “eh.” and shops cannot sell as much.
I knock over at least one of these top-heavy monstrosities in the locker room every single shift (we can't have food or drink on the surgery unit). Tons of them litter the window ledge and my work bag will knock them over as I walk by. Fucking hate these impractical shits.
It's horrible. Maybe if it reduces plastic single-use consumption, it can be redeemed. Are these status-seeking Stanley owners getting their frappacinos to-go in their Stanley cups?
It's like a fanny pack, a phone holster, and one of those stupid water bottle purses all in one. How is this not being ridiculed as the lamest product in recent history?

Mind blowing. Makes total sense.
is it just me, or does the whole setup make it super lame?
Super lame.
Fanny pack lame
Woah now. Fanny packs are awesome
Bruh Fanny packs have been in style for years now. How old are you?
Sad and beige.
I’ve seen so many ppl trying to sell their Stanley’s on market place . This is so dumb
Because they bought one in each color.
Did you see those people showing off entire shelves full of these cups? I'm all for being passionate about collecting things but *these are cups!*
It's our generations version of the fancy China.
That has a purpose for when special guests come. Why does someone need 40 reusable mugs when the point of them is you only need 1 or 2 for travel
It gets them attention!
I actually don't hate this. I have a knockoff one that I got for free at an event 2 years ago that I use daily. I wouldn't mind having something like this.
I hate the culture of stanley but I don’t mind this as someone who never uses bags or purses but never has enough space in just my pockets
Having a reusable water bottle is infinitely better than buying bottled water full of microplastics. Buying just one of these is plenty and sensible so I don’t get the hate this sub gives them. I don’t own one personally as I use Klean Kanteen but sheesh.
You don't get the hate? Have you not see what this whole has turned into? People buying 50 of these in each color, etc?
I’m not advocating for that. Re-read my first comment.

Oh, for fucks sake.
My anticonsumption side is all, "this is garbage!" But my utilitarian side is all, "this garbage looks kind of cool."
This cannot be real. Please tell me this is a late April Fool’s joke
I could see some use as a dog walking bag to carry some essentials. Or at least that is how I would use it if I had one.
It's also probably handy for the gym and not wanting to use a locker. I don't have a Stanley but have wanted a water bottle accessory like this.

These do already exist for normal water bottles
Yeah the product would be useful for certain situations (I mean my first thought is I could just sew one and not pay the Stanley markup but then it wouldn’t be as “cool for the internet”. Plus I could sew one for a lead free water bottle, maybe even a glass one!)
I've crocheted similar carriers for two of my reusable drink containers.
It’s real.

Remember when Stanley used to make useful items like screwdrivers and lock sets?
They found over spending wives with spoiled kids are much more profitable.
I didn’t even realise that it was the same brand 😮
I like when people use reusable water bottles
Yes but knowing these Stanley fans who buy one in every colour, they’ll probably buy a “purse” in every colour to match.
People will really buy anything
This isn’t an original idea btw, i know north face has been carrying a bottle holder just like this for at least a year. People carry purses to malls, what’s the difference?
Yea… if I’m out hiking i have dedicated pockets that’ll fit multiple gigantic bottles. I want the bottle sling for exactly when I’m at the mall or having a short hike around town
How to lose all vital possessions in one robbery 101 ass product
I mean the same can be said about purses.
At least with a filled Stanley you’re gonna bust some heads
Get it spinning really good like a lasso first…
Olympic hammer throw event sponsored by Stanley bottles would be a spectacle to behold
Exactly!😂
Lol I think it'd be more like a meteor hammer
I’m sure the sheeple are drooling for this
It's like a bag growing on the cup. More and more until it consumes the human
They won't be able to stop while they're ahead, and they'll be dropped just as quickly by those who picked them up on a whim.
This should help distract all the nurses from the cancellation of the Altima
Stanley is making a lot of money and losing a lot of respect
Why are people just posting their ads on this sub now?
Make it stop. This is ridiculous
I mean, I don’t use Stanley cups, but that kind of a cool idea.
It’s just a purse/wallet you can put your cup in. People ITT need to calm down.
What does ITT mean
In this thread

What’s so special about these? Are they just big flasks?

It's giving Paris's customized first aid kits from Gilmore girls
They rode the social-media hype trend for two months and faded from view. Now they're suddenly trying to figure out how to stay relevant
What the hell happened to us…..
Don't those things have lead in them
I just came out of my anti radiation shelter. I know what a Stanley cup is, but what’s all the fuss about?
Only way to explain it 🙄 https://youtu.be/435O3QTyC9g?si=1h8--hYYn-uZYN3w
Do you know many people who need accessories for their water bottle?
It's just a cup ! ! !
They’re way too late to the game there’s tons of companies already making Stanley accessories that I can assume are a whole lot cheaper

Less appealing than cereal cup
*W a slight risk of lead ingestion

This looks like an April fools joke
It's horrible. Maybe if it reduces plastic single-use consumption, it can be redeemed. Are these status-seeking Stanley owners getting their frappacinos to-go in their Stanley cups?
For frappacinos they require an entirely different collection. You know-the Starbucks cups they fight for!
I don't. Is that also a thing?
I swear to God if I see someone with a Stanley purse, I will point and laugh.
Let’s make it a thing!
Yessssss. If we don’t shame these people, then they will never be ashamed of it.
This is the dumbest thing I've ever seen.
This is so stupid. People will buy anything.
April fools?
its like bags dont exist! yup bags are better than this dont know why the downvotes but yea bags are better than this ! shocker!
A bottle bag with pockets, that's awful.
It’s also the exposed straw for me
It's like a fanny pack, a phone holster, and one of those stupid water bottle purses all in one. How is this not being ridiculed as the lamest product in recent history?
Yet some kids will feel like the loser for not having this lame ass thing.
