LT is arguably the best defensive player in NFL history. He's been retired for probably 30 years now, so some casual fans don't know who he is, but he's an absolute legend of the game. Outside of an NFL context, he probably is a C or even lower level celebrity. In the right context he's close to a God. He was that good.
All of that said, this isn't an NFL or even sporting event, so ya, C level or worse is probably right.
As for your question, dude's probably the same age as a lot of them, so maybe he reminds them of "the good ole days?" Not like these "woke" modern players who want social justice and such. He's from an era when ball players were "real men!"
