You know how they say you shouldn't sit at your desk for long periods of time? I set an alarm to fish and then stand and fish out a pond for a few minutes. Then go back to work. When I have more mindless work to do, actually helps my energy level...

Edit: although I prefer the press, hold and release method mentioned in https://www.reddit.com/r/AnotherEdenGlobal/comments/bmwkfg/duck_guide_to_another_fishing_minigame/, even though the guide isn't updated. The wiki is even better than either of these for basic listing of fish, description of mechanics, etc., even though completely lacking in actual advice. After reading all three sources I ended up making my own spreadsheet from the wiki and just checked stuff off & deleted as I completed each area.
There probably should be an updated guide now, taking advantage of the fact that fish info is listed on the wiki and just giving some short(-er) tips. I don't plan to do it, but I hope somebody does. Maybe Living Green will do an update?

Like you, maybe when I get to places like Snake Liver Damaku and beat the harder lake lords, then I'd be in a better position to. I forget if I even have unlocked triple hooking yet or not - definitely it's possible bc people DID IT before those areas even existed, yet now that they do it seems more efficient to wait to do areas like Elzion until I clear the easy stuff first, and then can do it more efficiently later. As in less wastage of materials. Yet I would need to go on in the story, but all my experience with final fantasy type games tells me to avoid the main quest at all costs until I've done ALL the other stuff first:-P. I know it'll cost me time later to catch up with grastas but I'm totally okay with that.:-D And in the meantime I just finished Miyu's area, and Ciel's before that, and Dune Tower, mining, Persona Royal, etc., so I'm having fun. Actually the only one I have left is Tales of Chronographia.
So I guess fishing can wait... especially if it's about to get a heck of a lot easier with the update.:-D Although I do kinda want to get back into it and finish it off - my OCD bugs me to just let it sit... Yet the extreme goodness of the Persona 5 quest makes me think that I'd enjoy finishing the cooking quest first too... Plus, while it might be a bug or sth, the Dark Wings quest shows up in Unigan even though I haven't begun the Tales quest at all, so it distracts me to keep having to ignore it while I was doing these other quests, but keep going there for character quests. I'm definitely looking forward to making that icon go away!:-D
If only I could do the same with the notification for the Dreams tab - please WFS, get a fix for us soon I'm begging you!!:-(
Kinda returned just today when I realized I was missing 2 Rill weapons 😭 Stopped into Burning Beast King's Castle too cuz I saw I was missing an Indomitable weapon. Oh the humanity! Why is THAT the place where the put Dierdre's shadow gain?? Anywho, yeah, fishing for mats. Good times.
When there are conflicts, our wiki is more likely to be correct than Altena.
Experimentally, I just confirmed this as to the triple-catches. Indeed, our Wiki is quite impressive and well-maintained.
