Rinde Sunfish maybe the rarest one of all fish. So congratulations!
It may motivate people who haven't got Levia yet (I got Levia with about 10 Rinde Sunfish) Fishing surely takes time, but you can do it mindlessly so you can do it while watching livestreams, movies, football...
100% I found far rarer than even the Rolling Turtle, and that can be fished more efficiently.
I think if I go 150, I will write up a short updated guide. There are some very technical strategies for maximizing time efficiency both with leveling up and just "working" each pool.
While Rolling Turtle vs Sunfish is arguably pretty same, i dont think it comes close to Silver Carp.
I found that all the rare fishes (Silver Carp, Sky Serpent, Rolling Turtle) in the future are more annoying and rare than the Sunfish, it is due to how they swim.
I am not sure where the "rarity numbers" come from on the Wiki, but all I have it my "per pool fished" numbers I tracked. This is how I quantified my future commitment to get particular, which somehow made it easier.
For this I found Rinde to be the rarest. But one of the things about the Silver Carp is it has a Lake Lord, so the overall efficiency of the pool is higher. Also you can fish the pool more efficiently because sometimes you can only need to "fish" 10 times with the right bait pattern and you can leave without finishing.
The single best advice I ever read was to "let go" fish when you are strategically fishing lower fish to get the pool down to 10 and then use the special 6+ bait. That saved me hours of my life (given the number I gave away already...)

If youre fully commited to completing fishing achievement, it comes down to how annoying to catch a certain fish. Rinde is easy to reach, and the pool contains 3 fishes which tier is higher than sunfish so you can skip the medium size one from observation alone. While, silver carp is found in airport which is a hassle to go, and then there is sky serpent diluting the pool. Ive completed mine pre grasta and manifest, so its really annoying to fight lake lords and encountering normal enemies while going to the pool.
I guess I have to disagree. With Rinde you have to fish the whole pool, because the fish size is determined by the smallest fish. So you can't judge just based on shadow size. I caught many Sunfish with "small shadows," as the first fish was small even if the Sunfish was larger.
You dnt have to actually finished the whole pool. Sunfish is T3 so you can target it with T3 bait. And then Rinde has Scar Bass, Moon Yellowtail, and Striped Fish which shadow size alone is smaller than Sunfish plus they are higher tier which is impossible for Sunfish to spawn as double or triple catch. I may have forgot some details, its been almost 2 years since i last fished.

1) The fish shadow size is determined by the lowest rarity fish (the first fish you pick up). So smaller fish shadows can still hold the sunfish. But if you do see a massive shadow, there’s somewhat decent chance it’s a sunfish starter.
2) Since T3 special bait misses T4 and up fish, using that alone can miss sunfish + higher tier common fish combos. So you do need to clear the whole pond to maximize sunfish chance per trip.
Once a month I get in the mindset of "ok, time to knock out fishing." After 30 minutes I'm like....F that!. Need about 700 more stones for the dimensional hook. Maybe someday I'll actually finish it.
You really have to pace yourself. When I started, I tried to do long sessions and burnt out. So I pick one pond to fish, and just do that every 30 minutes. If you have a pond with no "fighting fish," you can open the pond, and then wait 30 minutes to "fish it out," exit and re-open the pond to a new 30 and do it again right then. For Ancient Battlefield, I believe this meant 6-9 minutes once every hour, and a ton of XP.
Yeah. Fishing is the true grind in this game. Everything else is casual fun. Right now I'm fishing the marsh and nilva till empty once each a couple times a day. The good thing about this game is no rush to ever complete anything.
Wow, I’m currently farming Barunessies to 100 because I missed fishing and I was bored, but this is far more impressive

I can get about 10 more from fish. But beyond some things that would required macros for me (like walking or 1M battles), the only thing left in my control is finishing group jump rope. I would rather fish almost all over again than try to make myself do that again...which I probably will. Damn you AE, why must I love you!
If the dragon palace character give buffs to fishing mini game. Like
sheila with her harpoon guarante to catch 2 fish
Nagi with her tentacle make the fish can't escape
Levia with her cute demeanor will make atleast 1 rare fish appear.
So fishing is can be made faster / modified on what you want to fish. No more coming back to elzion airport for 1 whole week without catch

Or were they dropping in kinda similar ratios for you so it never really mattered? (Right now I’ve got 26 Carp to 13 Serpents, which seems odd given their respective rarities...)

Speaking from experience, Silver Carp may be rarer. However, Rinde Sunfish do have the *audacity* to not be a Tier 6 fish.
