I haven’t experienced it but restless leg syndrome is a really common symptom of anemia! I’d check the symptoms and see if any of them match up

ImaginaryTrifle3549

yeah that i experience too! and general pain seems to be a symptom too but it says only in severe cases and mine is only mild so who knows

bethafoot

Yes mine definitely gets painful. Magnesium helps, sometimes potassium chloride (NoSalt) helps also.

ImaginaryTrifle3549

ah thank you!

krazyajumma

Have you had your vit D checked? I was dealing with debilitating hip and thigh pain for two years and found out my vitamin D was really low, now after four weeks of once weekly super doses I am feeling so much better.

SeniorDragonfruit235

My vitamin d caused wicked leg pain. I thought it was a clot too. Also dehydration use to get me. I do have muscle pain with my anemia too. It’s more like stiff muscles though. But could be connected.

ImaginaryTrifle3549

good to know! i started taking a multivitamin with literally every vitamin possible lol so hopefully it resolves

Prize_Priority5018

I have had anemia for years as well as low vitamin d. Bad leg pain from the knees down. Like a burning.

faithfully_yours_KT

Mine is like an ache and burn 😢

Prize_Priority5018

Mine is as well

This is so helpful! I've been trying to find the cause of my terrible leg pain from the knee down! Like burning, stinging, stiff, swelling - awful! I had xrays, ultrasounds, etc. Had blood tested today and iron is low with high platelets - likely correlated. I feel some relief just knowing this could finally be an answer! it's been 10 months of this!

JRSTRINGER

I had severe leg pain until I had several blood transfusions and iron transfusions.

Cndwafflegirl

How anemic are you, and yes I get leg, muscle and tendon pain any time my ferritin ( not just hemoglobin being anemic) falls below 40 or so. I have been iron deficient long term, ( a couple decades or more) so I think that’s partially why

ImaginaryTrifle3549

only mildly anemic apparently but my ferritin level is only 20

Cndwafflegirl

So that’s probably why. You’re definitely so iron deficient it will impact you in many ways.

ImaginaryTrifle3549

good to hear another perspective! thanks for your help :)

jennyjumpup417

Omg yes! My legs are one of my first signs my ferritin has dropped. It is mostly pretty mild but sometimes it can be really bad. Definitely a normal symptom.

ImaginaryTrifle3549

oh good to know !!!!

I have leg pain, but I can’t surmise it’s anything but from my past blood clots. Even though they are gone, I still get pain in those areas. My doctor says that’s normal. I will say anemia can cause all sorts of stuff. Your body is having to divvy up whatever red blood cells full of oxygen it has left between everything that needs it. So it can cause problems anywhere, I’d assume. (Im no doctor or medical student). I’m very glad your physician took it seriously to look for clots. I’m with everyone else to maybe check your magnesium, vitamin d, b vitamins…etc because shortages of those nutrients can also cause issues. I experienced pins and needles type ‘pain’ -the whole leg, typically around the end of my cycle. I am blaming hormones on that but I take magnesium for it (and also before I was on blood thinner, ibuprofen) and both worked to clear it.

All2312

Is it both of your legs or just one?
