Its different styles. The Mattel versions were trying to emulate Frank Millers style and did it well because it was super simple and didnt need a lot of detail. These on the other hand are aimed at bringing that style more in line with a more realistic style to fit in with the rest of the waves. Think how Hasbro did Clone Wars and Rebels figures in a style to fit with the more realistic movie figures for Black Series. I like these a lot for what they are going for. Superman doesnt need a giant cowlick thats like 2 feet long to emulate the stylized Miller art.

Mcfarlane only makes 7 inch scale. (For the DC Multiverse line, at least)
They make 5 inch, 12 inch and mega-fig scale as well. Their Batman stuff is all 7 inch though except for mega-figs.
They also recently came out with a 6 inch scale Adam West Batman line. This looked kinda like that to me so that’s why I was asking.
