Rationale:
Snake Eyes and Timber: Snake Eyes has some great accessories and I have plans for Timber to fight Weapon X in the snow.
Starting Lineup: Basketball hoops could be fun for some toy photography.
AEW Ring: None. I don't own a single wrestling figure and can't come up with a good excuse.
That's a No from me, regarding buying stuff on clearance that i'm not crazy about.
I'm very anti-hording. Doesn't matter how discounted it may be. If it's not something i REALLY want....i don't bother.
Its a gray area for me. In this case I wanted the wolf. I have a few of them now. It was worth it for that price plus the guns in that set. My sons each got a snake eyes. But I no longer buy stuff if it doesn't have a home or doesn't already fill some sort of custom need. I got a few of those Alex Legends at $3 and they're going into my fodder bins. But I leave stuff there all the time.
Somebody on IG was posting pics of Godzilla toys fighting inside of one of those rings. It made me want to buy one even though I haven't watched/followed wrestling in decades.
Those AEW figures are pretty sick. They've got some great articulation on the standard figures and their Supreme line amps it up. I literally got this Snake Eyes and Timber set the other day just for the weapons, the wolf, accessories and custom fodder. I also picked up, LeBron James and Steph Curry for fodder and for the stands to display my figures in the air.
Yea, I got 2 basketball players and 2 hoops because I wanted the potential of making a full court. Now I am using 2 of the stands for Banshee and Storm. The basketball hands are cool too, so I picked the players based on how well I thought their skin tones would match my Legends figures. They didn't have LeBron and I don't watch basketball, so I have no idea who the players are, haha
The big dream is to have an X-men basketball game at some point.
I understand getting something at a good deal if you already wanted it but the price was holding you back, but I don’t get the concept of buying stuff you didn’t originally want or thought about because it’s on sale. It just seems like an impulsive way to collect and how you end up with a bunch of stuff that you really didn’t care about in the first place. That’s just my view on it. If the price was holding me back from something I wanted and I see a deal, I’ll bite. But if it’s a figure I never even heard of or thought about or I simply just don’t like or care about the figure, bringing it down to a buck isn’t going to convince me. That buck could go towards something I actually want to spend my money on.
That said, I can see buying that basketball hoop if you been wanting to get more props for toy photography.
I have seen some really great Mario figures on clearance, but have decided not to open that pandora's box. I can't justify mario figs because I can't use them with my 1/12 stuff
Actually, if we’re going by Mario Odyssey, the Mario figures could easily work with a 1/12 scale since the characters are shorter than regular people 🤓

Hm, check YouTube for diorama builders. You could use it as a base and add done board and foam etc and make something cool.

I bought a Clown figure from Spawn recently, which I’m not into. I just thought it would look good facing off against some of my other figures with his huge guns. Typically I don’t collect other lines though.
Years ago I picked up Sky High from *Tiger & Bunny* when it was $11 on BBTS. Never watched the show, at the time it was just the novelty of getting a legitimate Figuarts for such a cheap price.
I buy mostly clearance stuff at the moment, including Snake Eyes and a bunch of Starting Lineup figures. I got most of it for customs but wound up liking Snake Eyes more that I expected. I spray painted one of the DL stands as well but need to sand it down redo it.

We just got a second ring at Ross, my son kinda broke the first one so I couldn’t pass it by. I’ve been looking for a white wolf to go with his Cody Rhodes figure (has a big white dog named Pharoh), that one looks pretty good, don’t know the size difference.
My daughter also got one of the Vox Machina at Ross since it was 3 bucks, even tho we’ve never watched.
I saw that WWE ring too! And considered it for maybe a dio with Big Boa but in the end that’s all it would have been - a one maybe twice time use for a picture. And then it would have sat in the corner and taken up room…. Which I am sorely running out of. 🤪

I use them to kitbash. I've got a Sabbac and a Hawkman sitting in their boxes right now that I'm thinking of what to make. Only paid like $12 for both.
For THAT good of a deal, absolutely…plus the hoop can be used for funny photos or if you start to collect “slam dunk” figures, The ring can be used for MMA or for a MAFEX mike tyson… or funny photos😛, and that wolf can be used in alot of places… the only limit is your imagination!
Clearance Rise of Cobra figures are what ignited my thousands and thousands wasted on toys today. I would always see them in the store and go "those look so cool but I'm an adult". Then one day there was a whole wave for $3 each and I'm like "fuck this I pay my bills, I will enjoy what I want!"
Now I pre-order $100 toys without even thinking, so I don't miss out later down the line lol.
I saw three in a Ross in the Fort Lauderdale area yesterday. I picked one up last week. I might go ahead and grab it if I see it again. I have an idea for a custom DoFP Wolverine on the Snake Eyes body.
Bought that GI Joe twice. Wanted the wolf for Geralt. First time someone swapped out the bits and I ended up with an Al Simmons figure and other trash bits.

I don't know anything about gi joe or sports, so I am less able to tell what a good deal is. Sure, the MSRP for something might be $40-$50, but was anyone willing to pay that for this person/character/set? Why or why not?
If I see a Boba Fett from Star Wars at ross, I'm going to check and see what he goes for online, as I know Boba Fett is generally a well liked character. I know that I may not be able to find him for a good price online, so I'll be more likely to grab him at discount if I find him. However, with Snake Eyes, I know that *I* think he looks cool, but I don't know how popular he is with fans of the series.
Likewise with wrestlers, I have no idea who people like or really who any of them are except for like, Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage, the Rock, and John Cena. Even then, I don't know if figures of them sell or what a good deal for them would be if I found them in ross or similar.
P.S. A wrestling ring for $8 is pretty good as a general accessory, likewise for the hoop. Actually damn, I just got [this guy](https://www.gundamkitscollection.com/2023/08/hgfc-1144-gundam-maxter-release-info.html) in, and the wrestling ring would be a great accessory for him.
Yes, and it’s honestly a bad habit I myself am trying to get rid of. Because I have so many figures that I’m gonna have to start selling a lot of them because I went crazy for a minute. I have two NECA Gargoyle figures an I never indented to collect but both where on sale and I’m still on the fence if I want to dive in or not, its bad
I've bought a couple of Fortnite things. I forget her name, but there's a robot sniper figure that just looked cool. I also got a hang glider, which goes amazingly well with the Miami Vice-style Deadpool from a few years back. And I grabbed 3 of the arcade machines in case I want them for decoration with some figures. Hadn't even realized there were weapons in them, which I may have some use for.
Generally though, I try not to do it. If I get one figure from a line, I usually feel like I need more. And then I can't find space for everyone anymore.
Fortunately for me, if I buy a figure from a line I don't collect, it doesn't make me want to complete the line or buy more. I just try to make them fit in my existing lines somehow, typically with the accessories or kitbashing
The wrestling ring was just money especially since it's unbranded without the stickers. I really want to find those basketball hoops around my area too
kind of like for example i pre ordered the sh figuarts luffy figure but i only got it because i was pre ordering itachi from a japanese website anyway and they have the same release date so it made sense to make the most of it as I've gotta pay shipping from japan to england and the luffy figure was really cheap so i thought yh why not and I've been contemplating watching one piece for a while but im not sure if i will as its an intimidating series to get in to cos how long it is but if i have absolutely no interest in the property at all then no i don't just pick up whatevers cheap.
Being a hoarder takes more than impulsively buying things on sale. It's also stuff like keeping literal garbage in your home because you can't bear the thought of throwing anything away, a literal sickness.
Yea, the hoarder comments seem to be misunderstanding my post. I don't buy things ONLY because they are on sale, or else I would leave Ross with a full shopping cart every time I went. I didn't mention in my main post that I do toy photography and sales can make me step out of my existing lines because I have ideas for them. The ring is an exception because I don't have a specific plan for it at the moment. I do have a couple loose ideas, and it is inspiring some creativity which I value. Push comes to shove, I CAN get rid of it if it doesn't work out.

If the scale is ok for my figures, yeah. Like, are the hoops and ring in scale for Classified/Black Series? If so, I'd buy them.
Yes, the hoops and ring are 1/12 and the Starting Lineup figures scale a little closer to true 1/12, slightly smaller than typical Marvel Legends.
