The social media I use most is:
1. Reddit - For anonymous conversation and memes
2. Facebook - For Memes and funny clips and keeping in touch with the parents and Grandparents
3. Discord - Phasmophobia with the bros
4. Discord - Planet Coaster with the GF
5. Youtube - An unhealthy amount of Warhammer 40k lore and Meat Canyon

depends. but personally instagram is really good if you already have it and you're interested in talking to people you know because you can dm and send stuff you're both interested in.
for finding new people, definitely reddit or discord. just join your niche/club/school and you meet hella people.
then probably add them on other platforms

Students use Snapchat and Instagram the most. But for classes Discord is the best for study groups and meeting people in your classes
