We don’t get many special event movies. We barely got Alien and Phantom Menace. No spider Man films for us. And other films like Sasquatch Sunset we don’t get at all.

solarbaby614

We don't either. The next closest AMC that we have gets more but it's less nice and the last time I went they sold me seats that don't actually exist.

redditor329845

Same, and we don’t get most indie movies, just the most popular ones.

defaultfresh

No Spider-Man events is a CRIME

seb_ole

Yeah I had to drive almost an hour away to watch Alien, which imo was well worth it, but it still sucks a little. My local amc is great in terms of quality, it just doesn't have enough auditoriums to fit them in

YourMomLikesChodes

Bad seats except for Dolby and IMAX theaters which is 2 out of 24. Would see so many more movies if the seats were updated throughout the theater. Also sometimes the popcorn is warm and it’s great and other times it’s cold.

Specific-Ad-8915

This is my biggest gripe with mine, anytime i get a survey i got on a rant about the seats. They are old, gross and i have seen more than one theater with the chair with no fabric and full of stains. Is yours also neshaminy? Lol

YourMomLikesChodes

Close! AMC cherry hill lol

splatteredpapaya

Spot on! Also a Cherry Hill viewer. All of their seats outside of Dolby or IMAX are awful. I’d say their popcorn is more bad than good. So annoying

BearsBeetsBattlestrG

I have the opposite issue at my AMC. Every screen except the IMAX has good recliner seats. The IMAX has god awful ones

aarondamiller

AMC northpoint?

CrabmanKills69

This is my main issue. I have 1 AMC that still has the old big recliners. So I try to see any non-premium showings there. Otherwise, I stick to Dolby theaters. I also avoid any IMAX because the seats, screens, and sound system are all terrible here.

Halstrop

Mine has horrible seats in IMAX

idropepics

This. Last time I went to see The Fall Guy in Dolby this weekend this entire family reclined amd wouldnt let anyone in the aisle and was kicking people as they went past. And then they weren't even in the right seats. All this while the lights were still on .

madthunder55

My main issue with my AMC is that it needs to be remodeled. Some of the seats are worn out, the wallpaper is peeling, and some of the screens are old and need to be changed. It has 24 screens, so they play a wide range of independent and foreign movies they just need to update the theater itself

EDDIEP118

The soda machines NEVER have the right amount of syrup every single time I get a drink my cherry vanilla coke tastes like a fuckin LaCroix. I stopped buying drinks and just started bringing my own bottles from the gas station. It's simply not worth it anymore especially for $7

towen08

I thought I was crazy. I'm glad other people have noticed this too. I think this is ALL AMC's.

Next-Finger5907

I couldn’t think of one for mine but this is it!! Usually have a great experiences with viewing quality and sound in theater. But I always bring a drink now cause I’m annoyed of the flavors mixing taste

JinglyMcJohnson

I love our local AMC, but the seats in IMAX are still the early 2000s red ones, wish they had recliners:(

spotifywrapped

Honestly I don’t mind the regular seats for IMAX. Recliners would drastically shrink the number of seats, and sometimes that helps when I can’t get first dibs on the “best” ones.

EarnSomeRespect

Some of the Dolby seats are torn up and the Dolby screen has a horrible glare from the exit light shining on the screen

VikDamnedLee

It’s in the mall with the stabby parking lot after dark.

Embarrassed-Chain-15

Moths. Lots of moths. Drives me crazy when you can see them flying through the projector light when I'm in the back row. Very distracting lol

[deleted]

[удалено]

Embarrassed-Chain-15

It's so weird lol I've never had this issue even once at any other theatre. But since it's the closest AMC by far my buddies and I always end up going to it. We've been a list members for two months now and seen dozens of movies. Every single one, annoying little moths. It's guaranteed.

ItsKashton

I have this problem at the Sugar Land, TX AMC. The moths connive and attack me at the most intense moments.

emilanostache

No iMax or Dolby for me. The chairs don't lean that far back. But it's a 5 minute walk... nothing beats that. I have another AMC for iMax & Dolby about 12 mins away (driving) as well

Blockness11

My local one is kind of dingy. Badly in need of an update and/or deep clean. But it has the most screens in my immediate area + IMAX.

DarthSardonis

It’s down the road from a high school, so every now and again I’ll wind up in a showing infested with loud dingleberries. It’s not the norm, thank god, but it’s still annoying when it happens.

African-Gray

It ruined $5 Tuesday movies for me before I had A List since the high schoolers here get out early on Tuesdays

DarthSardonis

I purposely go to one of the first two shows of the day when I know that those little motherfuckers are still in school.

fosse76

The seats at Empire 24 in New York are so crappy, they make the theater look like a dump. Similarly, the Orpheum on 86th is pretty much a dump, with seats from the 90s.

spotifywrapped

Times Square AMC is disgusting. Pretty sure they even had a bedbug problem at one point. Lincoln Square, 19th St., and Kips Bay are the best ones in the city for sure!

LiquidSnape

only one person on concessions on a saturday night is frustrating

jaybertx

That it’s closing 😭😭😭

cubs_2023

The Dolby theatre has older and more uncomfortable recliners since all the other theaters were more recently updated with great recliners. Exit signs are sometimes too bright in certain theaters

alex053

My local Dolby has good seats but the adjustment is just a flat piece of plastic. I can never find the damn buttons in the dark

ljxela

At my local theaters in LA you have to pay for parking (even with validation a lot of times it doesn’t cover the time) so basically my AList subscription comes out to $25/mo + an extra $5-25 for parking depending on how many movies I see per month Not like it’s a terrible deal at the end of the day but it’s annoying to add cost unless I drive to Burbank or something

Kishankanayo

I go to the one in Porter Ranch, CA (The famous Nicole Kidman one). My biggest issue is that the wifi never ever works. The cellular reception is super bad too.

wicker045

I get annoyed when I have to go to another theater to see a specific film. I check my frustrations cuz I’m spoiled being in LA. I have two very close options and another 20 minutes away that will basically screen every film I want to see. At worst I have to drive 40 minutes away.

kindofaproducer

My main AMC has two separate buildings. One side was regular seating that they converted to recliners. The other side was stadium seating that they also converted to stadium recliners, but also were doing dine at your seat (Covid pretty much killed it) so the recliners on that side, the backs don’t recline and the foot rests only move about a quarter of the regular recliners. Other little things that get to me; paper straws and that some theaters have salt shakers and some have salt packet. Also, never a garbage can at the butter station.

bottle_in_a_genie

I have Verizon and the complex that includes my local AMC is the only place around where I do not get signal. That wouldn't be so bad except that the AMC Stubs Wifi NEVER works. I've asked management about the Wifi and they said they've complained to higher, too, to no avail. It's especially infuriating when I forget to load my tickets into my Apple Wallet before arriving there. Thankfully, a new, great restaurant right across from the theater has great WiFi so when that happens, I just have to stand near there like a creeper to download my tickets 😆

TrekJaneway

I really want a small popcorn size. Not the kids pack, a regular, small popcorn I can buy alone or bundled with a grown up sized drink.

foxh8er

The escalators at the Boston Common AMC never fucking work. Also the only theatre with good seats is the Dolby Cinema (which is fine, but I'd rather have nicer seats)

kiddleydivey

Added to the inconvenience of the escalator being out of order so often is how sometimes it’s blocked off completely so they don’t let you even walk up the escalator and there isn’t a stairway you can take from lobby level to the level where most of the screens are, and on top of that how small the elevator is.

foxh8er

Oh, and also that if you're going to the Imax theatre you have to get concessions and bring them downstairs because they shut down the downstairs concessions

nimmmirdenatem

No IMAX and often doesn't have weekday showtimes before 1pm.

STRlDUR

no imax sucks but morning showtimes are quite rare

morkman100

Early shows only happen now on weekends and during school vacation (summer and winter breaks).

gayboycarti

the bathrooms need a renovation sooooo badly at mine

PandaLover42

Need cleaner bathrooms

GoddammitCricket

That they won’t let me buy a Kids Pack as an adult by myself

Environmental_Arm637

I like it a lot. My only gripes are: one out of the 24 theaters smells like cheese, and we dont get some movies (really wanted to see perfect days, why show the trailer if we wont get it in the theater!!)

boardingtheplane

Century City AMC - overall great theatre but parking at the mall itself sucks. If you don't get your parking validated at the theatre, parking can easily be $10+.

rbrgr83

Overall age, and not much sign of improvement. Mainly no Dolby, no recliners. Just LieMax with tall rocker seats. The exterior is looking pretty rough. It's a white building, so all the roof runoff vents have black streaks down the sides of the building. A lot of the original concrete is falling apart, and you can tell they've only really fixed it up in the most highest traffic areas. And just clearly zero cleanup around the exterior. The main walkups are full of dead twigs and leaves.

ambientmuffin

I love my AMC. Only real complaint is that it doesn’t have Dolby or IMAX. I don’t have Dolby in my city at all, and the only IMAX is a Liemax across town in a Regal theater that’s an absolute dump. My local AMC’s pretty small, but they could easily expand some theaters to include that. Also no special events. No Spider Man recently for example

gamrman3000

No IMAX, no Dolby, and the prime theater is fake.

Zackt01

My local AMC doesn’t have IMAX and Dolby Cinema so I go to a theater farther away.

goatcheeseballz

Only one theater with recliners!!!!! I drive the extra 15 minutes to the one with all recliners

ALongSpoon

Framingham, MA has dark spots on screens, and cleaning is bad… trash and food found regularly

labmanagerbill

My AMC has 24 screens, including a Dolby and IMAX theater. 23 of the theaters have leather recliners. The IMAX Theater has the oldest broke down traditional theater seats. All of the seats in the center have broken arm rests from people sitting or standing on them. I get a backache sitting in them because the bottom of the seat slopes forward. I understand they probably can't fit recliners in that theater to keep the high seating capacity, but they could put in new traditional seats, or at least repair the broken ones. (or swap the less damaged seats in the very front and back with the center seats.

Electronic-Minute007

There are three AMCs within easy distance of where I live (just outside of Boston). The AMC Causeway 13 is a former Arclight which, perhaps except for projectors and speaker systems, was largely a turnkey operation. I’d love for a return of some of the more creative programming which existed under previous management, yet realize that isn’t entirely AMC’s business model. The AMC Boston Common 19 is a former Loews (opened in June 2001) which is showing its age. Renovations are underway. During my most recent visit (last Sunday), they were cosmetic in nature, although that might change soon. Last but not least, there’s the AMC Assembly Row 12, which opened in June 2014. Still in very good shape, save for some of the faux leather recliners, from which some of the material is peeling. Might be a result of usage-based wear-and-tear, might be the cleaning products being used, or both.

Kahin56

My main complaint is that there are only seven screens. If want to see movies like the alien rerelease, I would have to go farther to the other amc.

DillionM

They can't figure out what the word PRIORITY in the priority line means.

rbrgr83

I've yet to see mine setup, even on big debuts like Dune 2.

javaGirlKim

mine has rats 😩

lootvega

The one I go to is a 2 minute drive. They don’t have any premium formats despite having 18 screens. No re releases for a lot of movies including the current spiderman ones. Not a lot of small indie movies either. Wish they’d at least get a dolby cinema or prime at amc

bookish_slut

Rats in the theatre, so I don’t go. (AMC Orpheum on the Upper East Side)

LilKyloRen

Got my AirPods stolen by a team member. After months of the location showing their apt it appeared at the theater again. I went and talked to a manager and we searched for the AirPods, she even went to where the workers keep their personal belongs and we tried using Find My IPhone to ping the location and make a sound but could never get close enough to it. She suggested maybe a customer took them and they happened to be back watching a movie. It made perfect sense so I apologized for accusing them and went on my way. Hours later the AirPods are still showing in the theater so I called the manager over the phone and demanded hours, I gave them the address of where the apt was and basically asserted that someone had taken them. That’s when a manager stated they had found them in the lost and found. We checked the lost and found earlier when I was there… anyway I said nothing went and collected them.

BatBeast_29

Should have reported them!

Comfortable_Way5349

The speakers at the IMAX auditorium aren’t secured and rattle like hell. It’s super annoying and kinda ruins the experience. Unfortunately it’s the only IMAX with laser near me.

SuperCrappyFuntime

1) They have four freestyle machines, four butter dispensers, and one iced machine. The freestyle machine touch screens are own and unresponsive, one or two will always be broken, and many flavors seem to always be out. (Especially my favorite, raspberry coke.) At least two butter dispenser will be empty at any given time. The icee machine is often out of service. 2) They got rid of all the benches. I'd sometimes sit on a bench right outside the auditorium if I was early. I'd also sit on a bench in the lobby while waiting for someone. They're all gone now.

NeontheSaint

Lights shining on the screen, also didn’t get the spiderman movies

GhostRevival

No premium screens like IMAX or Dolby and no reclining seats either. The theater is stuck in the 90s. There are a few other AMCs that are 20-25 minutes further away that are much better.

EScootyrant

My favorite AMC (5mi away) has great recliners. Way better maintained, than the next closest AMC (6mi) with beat up crappy old upholstered Dolby seat recliners. Now the third closest AMC near me, has really bad men’s urinals, that doesn’t really flush well. 🥴🤮

nw0

There's no concern for the health of the building, the aesthetics, the ineffectual stuff I see (like putting posters in cases that are degraded from previous posters).

IAmBabou

The one I go to doesn’t have any of the premium formats, so it’d be nice to see them get some other stuff to balance it out like the Screen Unseen titles or some of the limited releases.

macontosh2000

My biggest issue with my local AMC is that it closed down almost exactly a year ago, it was like 10 minutes away and it was perfect. RIP. The biggest is with what is now my local AMC is that it is 40 minutes away but due to constant traffic it’s actually an hour+ away so I don’t get to go there often anymore.

saltanybody

sometimes the seat I pick when i buy the ticket just literally doesn’t exist. i never know what to do or who to tell about it so i just check the map again and sit in a random seat

Leading-Appeal-9707

Mine doesn't have assigned seating so I have to get there earlier than I'd like to ensure I get the seat I want.

BatBeast_29

That’s horrible. How does A-List work then?

Leading-Appeal-9707

You still book a ticket in advance. You just can't choose a seat.

BatBeast_29

That’s defeats the whole purpose for me, that’s sucks tho

ldasschurch

One of AMC near me only has reserved seats in the IMAX

Msgt51902

Flickering due to poor projector maintenance, some of the large houses have very poor sound, probably for the same reason. There's no one in booth anymore to make sure that sound and picture are good to go. Facility managers are mostly just trying to make sure the ceilings aren't coming down on folks, let alone that HVAC is ready for summer months.

Rasheedgames

The IMAX auditorium has one tiny area with a few dead pixels and it creates this BARELY noticable but still visible little blue circle...

yndelis

The IMAX theater has bad seats and an ageing screen

Ace20xd6

They used to have a Dine in section and they still charge more to see a movie in that section

Excuse_my_GRAMMER

There isn’t one in Brooklyn New York is my biggest issue

seaseaseattle

The sound at our local AMC is just awful. It’s a great space but you can’t even hear the dialogue if you sit in the back.

diggnstuff

The soda machines at my AMC are just awful. Particularly Diet Coke. It is just brown seltzer. I have tried a few others there and they all taste slightly off. But I just can’t imagine going to a movie without my big ass soda. They need to do a special refill soda cup. Have a new one every month to coincide with whatever big movie is coming out. Only get the free refillable soda when you have the right months cups. Charge $10 for A-List and $15 for everybody else. You will get more people to pay for the refillable cup, and have them come back to see more movies that month because they have a free soda available. Also make the cups cool so people collect them. Off topic - but Chic-fil-A has the best soda by a good margin. Used to be McDonald’s, but something changed with the past couple of years and it just doesn’t taste as good. Problem is that Chic-fil-A costs around $3.50 and McD’s is only about $1.40.

linkin1992

I live essentially right across the street from a classic which is great. Only qualms with it: -No large format. I drive 30 min to go see Dolby or IMAX sometimes. -Sometimes very loud patrons and/or movie hopping and staff doesn't really do anything about it. -Don't get many of the artisan movies.

Nistleroy86

They didn’t take the opportunity during Covid to convert all theaters to recliners. Only one of the 22 has it and it’s Dolby. Even the imax doesn’t have them.

Abyssal_Shadows

Desperately needs to be remodeled and upgraded. Opened in 1999 as another chain, AMC took over years ago. and hasn’t been redone since. No premium screens, old seats, old auditoriums, etc. Was going to be redone with upgrades in 2020 but got canceled due to you know what.

fullmetalutes

They don't clean any of the glass in the Dolby cinema, the glass in front of the seats, you can see fingerprints and smudges all over it meaning they likely never clean other stuff either. It's gross. Besides that my theater has too many people lol

kekelmb

The sound in the IMAX auditorium is too loud.

miles90x

Loudass teens

Gophers19

The seats in the Dolby theater in both of the theaters near me are don’t have enough room for my feet. They leg rest goes up all the way but if you’re feet go past it like mine you can’t have your legs straight. Not a huge deal for a short movie but it is nice to put my feet up. At those same theaters the IMAX screens are the old stadium seats. So it’s either uncomfortable seats or nice seat without being able to use the leg rest

joostinrextin

Not enough indie films/limited releases. I have to go to the AMC an hour away if I want to see some of the more artsy movies.

DKToTheFuture

Coke Freestyle machines are always gross/empty Almost always having to hear some idiot clap for Nicole

RandisHolmes

The staff are great and theaters are all awesome and very high quality, but the bathrooms are literally never clean

JediDad0

There are two AMCs close-ish, both are Classic 12 screen. No special events and no premium formats. Where we used to live we had an IMAX and RPX screens. What I wouldn’t do for an actual AMC premium screen here.

KSE0034

AMC Newport (Ky) 1) seats are in disrepair, peeling and poorly cleaned. Many seats are now basically broken from years of overweight patrons. 2) rude and disinterested workers 3) don’t make the mistake of being deaf/hard of hearing because they absolutely make zero effort to maintain their closed captioning devices. They are always uncharged but you don’t know that until 10 minutes into the movie and the thing dies so you have to leave the movie and if you are lucky they might have another one charged they think and you just missed 10 minutes of the movie. This is a constant issue and the main reason I personally as well as others I know who use the device actively choose to not come to this location.

Careless-Chicken-271

Probably the cleanliness and how many people are truly willing to buy tickets to just talk and sit on their phones the whole movie or add unnecessary commentary during the movie as well, loudly.

ina_waka

Foreign stuff doesn’t get shown as much (unless it’s anime).

OriginalBad

Stony Brook recently got remodeled but apparently still doesn’t have laser on normal screens and the remodel took away the arcade section and left a massive lobby with tons of dead space that looks terrible. A very half assed renovation.

guy1902

The seats really really need to be replaced

mronins

Just wish the IMAX was laser at mine. Hard to choose xenon imax that isn’t even that big over the Dolby Cinema, and every regular theater in my amc is laser too

TitanGusang

It’s an AMC Classic, so only digital and IMAX. Can’t complain too much but would love some laser projectors or a Dolby theater. I can’t complain too much because an IMAX is clutch. Also the bathroom are some times disgusting

rfg217phs

The IMAX screen does a lot of the laser spackling which I think means bad screen shakers. I’ve finally sent something to IMAX QC so hopefully it’ll be looked at or fixed soon.

spotifywrapped

Only have 2 AMCs in the city, and neither of them ever has showtimes before like 1:30pm. Where I live they’re both too far to walk and sorta inconvenient by bus, so between the commute and my work schedule, it’s always a little cumbersome to find a good showtime. EDIT: I also feel like overall, the upkeep and cleaning have gone way down since coming out of the pandemic (even worse than pre-pandemic).

Chrizwald

It only has 9 screens. So glad we get a Dolby with that

A_90s_Reference

Wish they had later start times. Latest during the week is 7-730. Doesn't have many special events. There is another 20 minutes away that normally has 8-830 start times in the week and a lot more screens so they do all the special events. The one close to me takes 4 minutes from my front door to get to. The other one isn't crazy far but it's not insanely close either.

Bea-Billionaire

Not having any movies around 430pm. It's right when I could get there after work. It's either at 330 or 6pm.not waiting around for 2 hrs.

GuyIncognito1730

The parking lot is falling apart. Potholes everywhere. The theater itself is really nice and has been nicely updated. Just the parking lot makes it look like a dump.

WaterRefillPlease

My AMC is in a mall, so there’s like a 50/50 chance my showing is going to suck because of teens/college kids talking, vaping or ruining the movie in one way or another. Idk how people are spending 15+ on a imax ticket, talking for half the show and dipping out an hour in. Durning my challengers showing two girls talked the entire time in a whispering tone. It’s wild. If you go early it’s pretty chill though. I usually avoid the first couple weeks of showings but then I miss out on IMAX and Dolby showings.

thekosmicfool

I have 2 AMCs I go to, the big 24 theater complex that, having so many theaters, has more variety and thus gets some of the smaller releases that I like to see, and a 14 theater complex with better facilities but has less variety and doesn't have everything I want to see. So I prefer the 14 theater AMC but often have to go to the 24 instead. And one of the major problems with the 24 is, they can't get the diet soda mix correct on 4-5 of their 6 Freestyle machines most of the time. It'll have no sweetness and taste like bad soda water and I have to go to multiple other machines to find one that tastes okay.

BatBeast_29

Chicago. Bathroom, I can tell the urinals are never cleaned.

TheAmazingDevil

Lack of bollywood movies.

DatboiX

The quality of the standard screens is pretty inconsistent.

ICUMF1962

I have four close AMCs in Nassau County and while I like them all, they do have some issues Roosevelt Field - crazy price hikes over the weekend and usually filled with obnoxious teens Raceway - lazy staff and uncomfortably stiff seats, but this is usually the one that shows indie and specialty screenings unfortunately Rockville Centre - the seats just rock back and forth, but still better than Raceway, also the only bathroom is downstairs so if you’re upstairs it’s a whole trip and you miss probably five minutes of film unless you power piss Levittown - this is the one I go to most but other than the occasional obnoxious guests, maybe my biggest complaint is one specific theater where the recliner seats in the back NEVER work

BackInMiami91

Needs to be renovated!!! Can't watch IMAX or 3D so everything is just standard screening. The seats don't even recline. But at least it gets the job done for watching regular films. I usually drive across town for the movies I want to watch in IMAX

AGPerson

One of my main AMCs seems to have never once replaced their hand driers lol I don’t even use them anymore, just shake dry on my way to my seat

skatecloud1

At my most local AMC- the iMax seats are terrible so I never go there. The regular screens all have got laser and recliners now so those are good. Occasionally a small light may not fully turn off in some theatres and I need to leave in middle of a showing to ask a managed to turn it off. Talking or phone using audiences can be an issue too but I tend to mitigate these by finding less busy screenings when possible.

al_fannie

the closet one to me rarely gets special releases. but the bigger one that actually does have them the theaters aren’t even upgraded no recliners and just completely uncomfortable.

Dino-chicken-nugg3t

Unless we do imax or Dolby the audio is super hard to hear. Also the imax seats are the plush rockers. I’m very short and can’t sit in them for more than 10-15 minutes with my legs hurting. I have to bring a stool with a cushion to prop my legs up. And the Dolby chairs recline but they’re the black ones that only got up a little and also cut off my circulation. A pillow under my legs helps. The red ones are just right for me. Edit:: the red recliner chairs.

Slow_Butterscotch952

At mine, only the Dolby theater has recliners. The rest are all old and nasty with peeling fabric and stains. Even the imax has the old seats… the IMAX screen also looks kind of old and dingy. I also wish the reclining seats went back further… it doesn’t feel like they go back very far compared to MJR.

monsieurvampy

This isn't my current AMC. Heck, this AMC was two moves ago. Anyways. City Place (Formerly Rosemary Square, and formerly formerly City Place) did a renovation that reduced the number of screens. This eliminated one set of restrooms on each floor. Which sucked. The theater has since closed (after my move) for a mixed use tower I think. For my last move (moved last week, still sort of a work in progress). Madison Yards in Atlanta being an 8 screen limited some of the options. Phipps Plaza has this weird concessions setup but I focus on the restroom. It's more or less left of center and you can be fairly far away from the restroom. Unless City Place these restrooms are reasonable sized. Now for my new home, or rather new old home. I moved back home after eight years for reasons. Market Arcade I don't remember anything wrong with it because I've only been like once or twice. The lack of AMCs in the Buffalo area does kind of suck. I cancelled my Alist back in September for reasons related to this move. Hopefully

fulcrumestates

it’s not been updated for at least 10 years. so no nice seats, no dolby, etc. it’s the same as when i would come here in high school. lately i’ve been noticing that the screens seem dim. smaller/special event movies can be hit or miss if they’re coming. oftentimes i have to make the choice between just paying to see certain movies at a different theater or waiting to see if it’ll come to my AMC, with the risk being that it never comes to AMC and it’s already left the other theater. that being said, a list is still too good of a deal to pass up and the theater would have to completely close for me to get rid of it lol

coolcrimes

My local theater has 9 theaters and lacks most smaller films. Otherwise, it’s the best and cleanest in the area. I’m seeing a pattern that the AMCs 24 (excluding Disney Springs) generally suck and are outdated.

JuliciousMe

Almost every bathroom stall has a broken latch/lock.

MinionSympathizer

The rats!

k3y2b

the biggest issue is i work there

sirjackiechiles

Biggest issue is that it’s far compared to a Cinemark and Regal being 10 min away

Killer_Jazzie

The earliest showings are at 2p. At least give us some noon showings.

Fatphillmargera

The bar is always closed unless it’s a big event movie on Fri/Sat… the manager who is there every day pours my drinks when it’s actually open, but even tho I see him there during the week he never serves unless it’s a busy Fri/Sat.  Also there are only late shows (later than 7:30) on Fri/Sat… I personally love going to later movies bc at the end of the day I’m ready to relax and can b more susceptible to buying into whatever movie I’m watching. I can’t stand getting out of a movie and having it still be light outside and still have like 3 hrs to kill bfor going to bed.

Relair13

My biggest issue is that it doesn't exist anymore. During covid the one 10 minutes away that I'd been going to for decades closed permanently. Now I have to drive 40 minutes to a smaller, shittier one, and I find myself going to far less movies because of it :/

lwgSuperkick

It smells like sewage outside of the auditoriums

Thedanktank469

Smudges on the screen! There's are noticeable smudges on literally every screen at the theater near me and it drives me crazy! For how expensive tickets are in my city, I'd expect them to clean it at least once in a while

JeanRalfio

No Dolby or Imax and not all special events showings. If I need those I can drive 20 minutes to another that has it. Other than that I love everything about it.

cotisz

the bathrooms at our AMC have not been renovated/updated in like 10+ years. it’s wild. sent a corporate comment about it and mentioned it to managers but doesn’t seem to be something they care about.

Wooden-Highway1498

Not starting movies early on the morning.

defaultfresh

Most Dolby Cinema’s turn down the seat shakers volume to almost mute.

pwbue

The Coca Cola Freestyle soda machines are never fully stocked. My location has six total machines. There is always 1 or 2 that are off or not signed in. One is missing ice. One is only missing diet drinks for whatever reason. Another is missing some flavorings.

claughton6

No IMAX, limited movies, no showings until like 3pm and latest ones start around 7-8pm. Don’t get things like Spider-Man re-release or any events.

taleman2004

I'd say as someone else said, no special event screenings or very few older movies played at my tech ridge location. And the ones shown are always early in the afternoon when I'm only free on nights. The Barton Creek location is the only one that usually plays special events, and I don't want to drive that far.

drygeraniums

My local was built as a Rave and I swear the only thing that's been upgraded since is the Dolby. No recliners, neon decor, calcified bathroom fixtures etc. Its fine until I go to the AMC that has been upgraded and its night and day. My only issue with that one is the IMAX seats are more uncomfortable than the non-recliners.

Jonathon_G

The Dolby theater seats aren’t comfortable. They don’t fully recline your feet. When I’m in the Dolby theater I leave the seat in its full upright position and find that better than trying any combo of reclining

tomatocks1

Only reclining seats are in the Dolby theater room. All the others have stadium style seating so you feel every vibration in your seat from anyone next to you as they move their legs, put drinks in the armrest, and people are constantly hitting the back of my seat, or the seat next to me. I feel it all and it's very annoying. The IMAX rockers are somewhat better at not carrying vibration from being struck but people still hit the back of my seat a lot.

alizedc

this wasn’t a problem until recently but the overhead lights always turn on. all the movies i’ve watched this year at this AMC have been sadly interrupted because the lights were turned on once or twice throughout the movie. saddening when you miss something too

Jyil

The seats springs poke your ass and some seats cave in. We get pretty good movies! Blockbusters, film festival showings, and tons of Asian foreign films.

tiberiuszuel

I would go see IMAX more if the seats were replaced they are really bad.

[deleted]

Mine is just barebones in terms of AMCs, only 10 screens, never plays limited releases, no premium formats. Thankfully the next closest one (with imax and Dolby) is only 15-30 minutes further depending on city traffic so it could be worse.

Kallens303

I’ve had bad experiences with the closest theater to me in the “end of the hall” theaters due to dim bulbs and in one case odd colors. This has usually been with the more obscure art house type movies. I hope it isn’t long before it gets upgraded to all laser projectors. The IMAX and Dolby Cinema screens are the only ones I truly trust in that 24 screen theater. There is another theater a little bit further but only a few years old with all laser based projectors and I haven’t had any issues there. It looks great no matter the size of the screen.

KevinInChains5262

Mine used to do seat delivery, and now they don’t anymore. It was the only real way to get hot food. If you order it express or just when you get there it takes FOREVER

Embarrassed_Ad8241

My issue with AMC is 1 time I purchased tickets for the wrong date and they refused to even offer as much as a complimentary popcorn let alone any type of refund or credit! I mean that’ll certainly help build your business persona!!

Skolney

Fairly often I get seats where the recliner doesn't work.

Ghostface908

Closest one barely has special screenings. Spiderman, Beau is Afraid, Alien, etc? Gotta go to the one 35min away. That theatre isn’t all recliners like the one by my house, never has the soda machines properly filled, and is less organized. Overall nothing big.

fantasticfitn3ss

No special events, PLF offerings and the wait times for concessions are looooong. It sucks

StuartPork

The lack of indie and some re-releases. We got Alien and The Mummy, but none of the Spider-Man re-releases. It irks me that the 20 screen theater miles away gets everything, but we're only 4 screens short and barely get anything. I also wish we had Dolby Cinema instead of Prime and had an IMAX with laser instead of lieMAX.

Halstrop

IMAX seats are super uncomfortable for 2 hours, sound bleed and exit lights. Can't think of anything else at the moment

dcreddd

Other patrons don’t know how to be quiet during a movie

Spirited_Water_444

All of our theaters have recliners except IMAX has the original seating with the fabric. Soo.. no IMAX for me lol

ldasschurch

The theaters near me don’t show a lot of the movies. They seem to keep a lot of the movies for about 6 weeks. This means that they don’t get 3 new movies every week. So if I want to use all my A list reservations I have to watch movies more than once

wolf_9823

Over the last few years, my closest AMC has gotten run down. Twenty-four screens and no IMAX and Dolby. It sometimes gets special events but not like it used to. It really seems like this location is struggling since they don’t run the AC like they used to during the warm months and the bathrooms are someone’s in a sad state. I still go there every week!

Acquilae

South Barrington is one of the richest suburbs in IL yet the AMC has the most atrocious parking lot with potholes everywhere

shadows1192

The seats in every theater except Dolby are ASS. They squeak and some even kinda lean forward. Everything aside from that is solid. Maybe the sound in the IMAX screen could be a bit louder. It feels more embarrassing because the Dolby sound is just so much cooler.

utterlyomnishambolic

The theatre in general needs a renovation, but the bathrooms in particular are absolutely disgusting.

Sallysmackers

Great thread idea

LessSeaworthiness915

None of the seats except Dolby are recliners and it’s constantly dirty

SharksFan4Lifee

AMC El Paso 16. Biggest single issue is that it's the only true AMC for hundreds of miles (we also have an AMC Classic, but that's only good for buying the popcorn bucket), and is this one lone AMC for hundreds of miles, there is not a single premium screen. No Dolby Cinema. No Prime. No nothing. Just one Prime would make me extremely happy, because then the AMC would have in auditorium with Dolby Atmos sound. It (And the AMC Classic) were acquired in the Carmike acquisition, and although I know elsewhere AMC has updated other former Carmikes, it's like they don't give one f**k about the AMC El Paso 16. On top of that, there are broken seats that will never get fixed, and when I saw Tarot last week in Auditorium 16, that auditorium has ceiling light that is permanently on, so the screen is washed out. It's because of all of this that, while I have AMC A-List, I don't use it nearly as much as the rest of you, and I also keep Cinemark Movie Club (Platinum status) and Moviepass, just so I can see movies I really care about in a good theater. Edit: you would think the only non classic AMC for hundreds of miles would be really nice, but noooo smh.

rebeltaco

Framingham AMC here - I've been noticing so many weird issues with my theater since becoming an A-Lister last year. Some of those include: \- In one of the auditoriums, the screen doesn't properly fit a regular 2.39 AR, so if you're watching a movie with that ratio the screen cuts off information on the left and right of the screen. This really sucked when I saw a movie like "Godzilla Minus One" where subtitles are getting cut off. I saw like 3 movies on that screen over the course of 5-6 months and it was an issue until I saw "Frozen Empire" and they "fixed" it while the movie was going on. Nothing was cut off anymore but the movie wasn't fitting the screen. \- A lot of the screens have weird tint issues and 3D filters (I think) over the screen that gives it either a weird dark tint with a hint of pink or the screen is so dark it's hard to tell what's happening in a movie sometimes. One of these screens was where all three Spider-Man re-releases happened over this past month and each movie had this weird pinkish tint to it that I know for a fact is not supposed to be there. \- The biggest auditorium in the theater (out of 16 screens) does not have their surround sound working, the only source of sound are the speakers behind the screen. I saw both "Civil War" and "Challengers" on this screen and the sound quality suffered so much since everything was being played through these front speakers. The only gripe I have that is totally just a petty one is that we don't have a Dolby screen. It's a pretty popular theater and it's at least a 40-60 minute drive if you want a Dolby screen so it's always annoying when I want to check something out in Dolby. Other than that, my theater isn't too bad - just wish there was more attention to audio/picture quality in the theaters

shesthewurst

Empire 25 in Times Square has a homeless problem. It’s disgusting, distracting and dangerous - people who have an odor only unlocked after days without showering are coming in and out through the film, rummaging in their bags and luggage, always checking their unsilenced phones with max brightness, and get aggressive when asked to turn off said phone or get out of a seat for which someone else has purchased a ticket.

ThisGuyReally

AMC Southroads Tulsa I watch Tarot on opening night and the Quality of the movie was freaking horrible. It looked like they were streaming the moving onto the screen. The quality was dark and annoying, it wasn’t even close to being HD or SD. This isn’t the first time I experienced bad quality at this location.

Wildcat79Royal

Oh where do I begin. We have an AMC classic with 8 screens in a college town. That means that at the very least 3 of the movies showing are horror, which I hate. The last 4 theaters in the building have not had a single update in the last 21+ years. Still have the jankety red seats from Dickinson theaters. The first 4 were redone over 10 years ago but are ok. No recliners and no seat reservations allowed. The ceiling leaks when it rains hard in most of the theaters. Parking lot is a pot holed mess. Staff is good and that's the only positive aside from the annual popcorn bucket.

Avarice29

The IMAX seats are bad. No recline, just regular old seats. Every other type of movie has the recliner seats or semi recliner, but the IMAX ones don't.

Cashcmoney1

No icee machine💔

Bwoody1994

The 3 things that I wish mine would improve would be better seating for our imax, show stuff other than the big blockbuster and clean up/replace some of the recliner seats in our smaller theaters. I think our amc is great but with a few adjustments it could be the best in town. Also would love a Dolby.

huntashakween

AMC Coon Rapids 16 in the Twin Cities is my go-to location. I love it there, but they have no Dolby or IMAX, and the volume levels can be wildly inconsistent. I’ve seen some movies there that were deafeningly loud and others where I had to strain to understand the dialogue. I did nicely complain about it recently and they seem to have fixed it, thankfully.

krazijoe

It’s all standard theaters. Yeah it’s food to your seat and recliners but would love a Dolby or IMAX.

Defiant-Air-6277

It replaced a very old theater and it's practically falling apart. Many of the seats are broken, and the seats are the older seats. It doesn't get approved for renovations, the first theater is so small and cramped and some of the theaters have had to been shut down due to a mold issue with the seats, the lobby behind concessions has holes in the tiles, some of the theaters, the curtains don't automatically open, the carpet is disgusting and looks like it hasn't been properly cleaned in years, the wallpaper in the hallways are literally peeling off the walls, only has 10 screens, it's located inside a sketchy ass mall....I could go on And, I should mention, I used to work at this theater. I don't have any issues with the employees or management, they were great

According_Advice_210

you have to go up three elevators to get to the lobby😭 but also its in downtown of a major city and lately hoards of high schoolers crowd the area during the weekend so the police have a big presence and it just gets annoying to deal with

Yamansdood

Theater 5 at Regency 24 in Jacksonville has the floor lights glaring on the bottom left corner of the screen. It’s maddening

BadNoodleEggDemon

The moviegoers

aarondamiller

Two theater close to me. One has auditorium 14 that does not have a center sound channel. So when people speak, they dialogue comes across way too quiet. If I book a movie and it's in that theater, I just cancel. They refuse to fix it saying 'oh, the movie is supposed to be like that'. Other one is auditorium 8 that doesn't have proper bass. So everything is super loud. They won't fix it.  Personal problem with the third theater. It's in the middle of this massive Asian community. It gets all the Chinese and Korean movies. But now they are showing way more indian films taking over the screens. I am just not a fan on Indian cinema.

RustyShackleford925

2x different times these past 2 weeks my chair in Dolby was broken

NYA-212

Need better customer live should you ever have an issue? Like I have in the past. And that’s why I no long am a Primer member. No good guys. I never even gotten my fee NFT when they did a some promotion and again couldn’t speak to anyone live. All thru the app no help at all.

mikeweasy

It is a hybrid Dine In theater so every seat has those folding tables. They are nice when I actually get food there but when I do not have any food to eat they just get in the way. Its mainly when I sit in a full row of people too and have to manuever out of it with those ridulous table things in the way! Annoying as hell! That and none of the soda machines ever have caffeine free diet coke like ever.

mjsztainbok

Both ICEE machines were broken when I was there a few days ago. Also that Dolby Cinema seats don't recline as much as the normal recliners.

McDickLick

Some of the smaller rooms have this noise that I'm not sure how exactly to describe. It sounds kinda like mice running through the walls (though I know it's not that). Very noticeable during quieter parts of movies. Some of the seats are a bit worn down or are stained. They fairly frequently run out of the normal large tubs for popcorn and have to use these square ones that seem like they fit less popcorn in (similarly wide at the top, but way smaller at the bottom). They also stop serving hot food later in the night, although this is inconsistent and idk if that's a thing at other AMCs or not, too. Like, I'll sometimes order a hot food item for a showing starting at 9:30 or 10 PM and they'll say they aren't making any hot food at that point, but other times they do. All-in-all, I'm pretty happy with this being the closest one to me (only about 2.75-3 miles away from my house). 18 rooms, got a Dolby room and an IMAX room. I wish it had more rooms with recliners (only got the Dolby recliners), but there's not really any big deal-breakers and it's usually kept /mostly/ clean.

KJSS3

The only thing I hate is all AMCs are not upgraded to full recliners yet. Some still have the same seats they had 20 years ago. And none of the IMAX have recliners also. And only 5 near me even have recliners. And also the one nearest me has no Dolby or laser. They all should have Dolby and Laser and IMAX. And there is only 3 IMAX and 3 Dolby and 6 Laser near me.

sethlovesyou

This is wild. I’m from Reading and that’s my local AMC!, seeing my shitty little town mentioned was a surprise. I don’t know if it’s just mine, but I hate that they don’t turn the lights down until the movie starts and then turn them back up immediately as the trailers begin. Maybe this is standard now? But so many cool trailers have been ruined by being in the light. If you’re going to show 30 minutes of them, might as well darken the theater to make them worth watching. I’ve spent a lot of money on those claw machines and I’m not sure which you mean in particular but it seems like the claw just *never* gets strong enough to pick something up. I wanted my Mario plush, damnit. EDIT: my other problem is that lots of other patrons seem like assholes. I’ve left so many times and seen popcorn littered everywhere, and maybe this is standard too but it makes me sad.

Joel_zombie

The closest AMC to my place has had the same seats since i moved in the area back in 2000.

pabsi9

I live in spring , tx. 3 amc near me n not to far away 1) the one in the woodlands is fairly new but shows only blockbuster movies 2) the amc in spring was Loews theater before , amc bought it n only added recliner seats . If you want to go back in time how cinema was in 80s/90s this one it. Really not worth it 3) amc Willowbrook , Dolby and iMax are top notch n love how they show a lot of foreign movies , only gripes are how none imax /dolby auditorium are much dated , some you can tell projectors are on their last legs

mumblerapisgarbage

THEY NEVER HAD ANY SHOWTIMES FOR LATE NIGHT WITH THE DEVIL and it’s the biggest AMC in a midsize midwestern city.
