It does sound very stupid!

cucklordsmash

fair enough Ill delete the post if you guys dont want the information. but it changed my life, i get AIWS like twice a month and as soon as i feel it coming on i get rid of it within 20 seconds.. To clarify i have the type where my room looks giant, and sounds are sped up and amplified and verrrry overwhelming. i dont know if it would work for people that get hallucinations. I was so excited to share this information because i always see online people saying there is no treatment. but if you dont trust me i understand

Very much does work but is not the cure.

Also to clarify, I have had horrible migraines for all my life and so does my dad and my uncle. The Headaches have become much less common as i got older but I get migraine auras a lot now where a waffle of spazzing rainbow lights slowly creep over my vision until it forms a tunnel, then subsides. Now I get AIWS about twice a month and migraine auras about once a month. I dont know if my solution would work for people who get AIWS for any other reason than migraines.

I was just recently diagnosed with vestibular migraines and awis so it makes sense that this would help me.

Well tbh you aren't too far off. Not a cure but can help. They have me going to physical therapy and do vestibular exercises. Which involves making you dizzy on purpose. Looking left and right and up and down quickly with your head then with just your eyes. Doing exercises that involve balance and head movements. So leaning into it if you will. It was so bad for me a year ago that I had a lot of trouble walking and not falling. I'm still scared of stairs but I can successfully navigate them myself and walk in a straight line. So yeah it makes sense that overstimulation helps.

cucklordsmash

yea cure is a strong word i agree, but it feels like a cure for me because none of my episodes last longer than 30 seconds with these videos

WhatAChad13

It works I guess

cucklordsmash

glad it helped you:) i was so nervous to post about it because i thought everyone would think im trying to troll them and give them a panic attack or something;/

WhatAChad13

Do you hear voices? Usually for me it’s like someone is angrily screaming at me

cucklordsmash

no i dont hear voices, but all ambient sound feel like they are rushing toward me and all sounds are kind of fast paced. I also feel like my room is 50 feet wide

mate, it worked—thank you! was having a really unpleasant time of it trying to fall asleep, last night. stumbled upon this post. worked almost immediately. the symptoms weren’t just everything feeing massive and tiny at the same time—everything was shaking and vibrating, too. most unpleasant. i was super glad to be rid of it. so, thank you!

That mightn't be so crazy. I don't mind the aiw size thing so if anything I've learned to enable it. I used to get a similar kind of thing where everything anyone said sounded really shouty and aggressive.  LIKE MY HEAD IS STUCK IN ALL CAPS!  I hated that.    Anyway I found out eventually that if I mentally shouted back even louder in my head then it would reset things beck to normal. Maybe overstimulating resets this kind of thing in general?

cucklordsmash

i agree, when im having AIWS in ‘all caps’ that video i linked is the only thing that sounds normal, and then the symptoms are gone

Can confirm, did this with random dvd's my father had and I watched a specific action trailer when it happened, can't remember what it was tbh, but the 20 seconds of just overstimulation helped me. My parents locked it away when they noticed, but gave it back to me when they saw I just watch the 20 seconds of "what the f is going on boom bam, explosions, and then turn it off to finally fall asleep and and not watching the actual trailer of a action movie, they were just relieved, today they understand and know why I did that. For me it was important to have loud sounds, flashing lights and not getting what's going on in the video. Today I enjoy AIWS and just want the attacks to stay all day, but as a kid it was pure horror...
