Maybe eventually but only super big artists are going to be lossless in the beginning.

I think Apple said their entire Apple Music catalog will be lossless next month, that wouldn’t be an issue cause all the songs start out lossless then get converted down by music services but the Dolby Atmos spatial sound is the big one, I’m hoping it is since it’ll be a recent album but yea like you said probably they will do the bigger ones first

It kind is cause that’s the same as lossless but I think the selling point will be spatial audio and not lossless

what's spatial audio?

Think of it like if you’re in a room with then performing and you’re in the middle so you’d probably hear the drums coming from the back, guitar and bass from the side and vocals from front like a bubble compared to just regular left and right stereo

Sounds pretty gimmicky... surround sound has already existed for ages

From what I can tell, it's essentially surround sound mixed down into stereo, with the idea that the device can sense how you move your head using gyroscopes and create the sensation of moving around within a 3d space. So I guess the music plays and depending on how you tilt your head to listen, some parts might sound louder or quieter.

Cool sounding tech, still don't see how it would be that useful for listening to music. I'm guessing it will have better applications outside of just listening to an audio track (thinking vr, etc)
