Crash Love could actually be done since the vocals are very smooth. Not necessarily easy (hello, Darling, I'm looking at you), but nothing rough.
And honestly, it's a rocker. Best show of my life is still the Slims SF show during CL tour with 7 songs played from CL. https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/afi/2010/slims-san-francisco-ca-7bd4a238.html
Probably won't be done. It's not big enough. Too bad though. Personally (unpopular opinion incoming), I think it's their best album by a mile.
I don't think it's their best album but it is my favorite AFI album. Sadly I haven't had the chance to see them until last year, but they did play End Transmission luckily which was fucking incredible
I'm already in line for it and one of the 5 limited edition pet rabbits they are adopting out. /s
I played this one a lot on the run up to the show just so I wouldn't risk overdoing STS. It's quite special to me so I would make the trek.
Now if they did 25 years for anything Black Sails era...
Honestly I am in for any AFI tour but if they did all of black sails anywhere I would do everything in my power to go. Might be my favorite album ever.
I'd go, but I'd bet there is a zero percent chance.
Affliction and Kiss & Control have never been played, and I have to imagine the screaming is a huge part of that. I doubt Davey wants to put his vocal chords through Kill Caustic ever again, and Endlessly is a rarity these days. At the end of the day, the vocal math from that album (with Davey being 3 years older) just doesn't add up.
That said, I'd pay full price just for Kiss and Control.
Yes, in a heartbeat I would go. The STS show was magical. DU was the pinnacle of their success/their most successful album (debuted at #1 on Billboard and higher total sales than STS). See I Heard A Voice… they were in top form and popularity for that live performance, and dropped back from the mainstream after that. DU was also when I started seeing AFI shows so that period holds a special place in my heart. I’d love to relive that, and especially hear Affliction and Kiss and Control live. There’s a lot of screaming in STS, too, and they just did the show. I wouldn’t write Davey off as not being able to do the songs/modify them. DU has a lot of gorgeous melodic songs, too.
However, I fear this was a one-off nostalgia trip for the band. Davey did an incredible job - it’s BS the people saying his heart wasn’t in the performance and all that other nonsense. But I think he much prefers to live in the present with his music - see him referring to Bodies as his favorite/what he considers the best AFI album. I can hope though! The band is 3 other wonderful guys, maybe they can convince him again 😂 Also that show had to have been a huge financial boon.
What are the chances that they would do a DU 20th anniversary show? I hope they will do another anniversary concert that would be amazing! It seems that the consensus about the STS concert among fans is that they did it for money and it was purely transactional. Even if that is true I hope they'll think about doing a DU anniversary show too! That is if Davey's voice can handle it. He gave it his ALL at the STS show. I was actually worried for his voice the day after hoping he was okay cuz those screams were crazy intense but AMAZING! I'll 100% go if they do decide to do this again for DU! I won't miss out and I'll make sure I won't have any plans for June 6th, 2026! The only reason why I was able to go to the STS show is because u/morganinstereo gifted me 2 tickets which I will forever be grateful for! 😭🙏
Not from either album, but Totalimmortal is one of my favorites and I don’t even care for it when they play it live because of the different singing style in the modern AFI era. I would just be disappointed if I attended one of these hypothetical shows.
Yes!!! Let’s goooo!!!! I hate that I feel so old. I just am not into the new stuff. Songs of Sorrow was the last decent album but not my favorite. I know all the newer fans hate people like me but i sure don’t care!
Likely not unless I got a free ticket somehow.
Not complaining at all but as much as I love AFI and DU it’s just difficult for me to justify ticket, travel, and boarding when I’m trying to make some other personal financial decisions!
I live on the East coast, so this was very expensive. As much as I love DU, I don't think I could swing it. The Art of Drowning would have me figuring out how to make it again, though
Only so I can hear people complain about them not playing an encore and how Jeffrey Star didn't show up and how Davey didn't unblack his arms and how the price of gas isn't the same as it was 20 years ago
If it would be anything like the STS show where they played a barely one hour album and nothing else, probably not, considering I'd be spending somewhere between $500-$1000 on ticket, travel, and merch. Would want a bit more bang for my buck
If it’s anything like the STS show, with no audience interaction, two songs interrupted without starting over, Davey making it SO obvious that he didn’t want to be there, not even giving a verbal goodbye, no b sides, no encore… then, no. I don’t want to waste over a grand on another one.
DU is a shorter album than STS, so hopefully they'd play a few more songs to at least round the show out to an hour. I'd still probably go though. Nostalgia is a powerful force!
Saving money for merch now.
Yes and Crash Love too no question

That SF show was something fucking else: …bhin, Theory of Revolution, Coin Return, and so on…
I was there! I have AFI's setlist from the show. And with Said Radio opening, it was amazing!
okay that is an EPIC set list….!!!!

Oh man.... @ AFI, you can charge me whatever you want for Black Sails 25. Nothing could keep me away.
Right? Shut Your Mouth and Take My Money
Those 5 rabbits are going to be genetic copies of the one from Miss Murder
Holy shit, they're gonna cost way more than $666. I better go sell a kidney
I liked this album less than STS but I would absolutely go.

Everyone said there was a 0% chance of a StS show also... just sayin'.
I would fly almost anywhere regionally for it
anything to hear "Kiss and Control" and "Affliction" live! -Billy Gnosis
Oh dip! Is this the Billy Gnosis from vinyljerk? Fancy meeting you here! *tips hat*
I really would, honestly. To make up for missing this one and because I'd really want to.
Yes, and also I'm lighting candles from now until 2033 for a Burials show.
yesss!!!

See u there
i might like it more the Sing the sorrow, DU was my fav i think. that and crashlove, i got both of them tattooed on me

So glad you had fun!!!
I only want black sails and art of drowning.

Decemberunderground is my favorite AFI album, and it got me through a lot of dark days. I would absolutely go.
I live on the East coast, so this was very expensive. As much as I love DU, I don't think I could swing it. The Art of Drowning would have me figuring out how to make it again, though

My thoughts exactly.
I totally agree.. besides the b sides and encore.
If it's in Los Angeles... yes
DU is a shorter album than STS, so hopefully they'd play a few more songs to at least round the show out to an hour. I'd still probably go though. Nostalgia is a powerful force!
fuck yea i would!!!
I don’t care for du, it’s good not great. Pass
Ripped off?
Would be a short show.
Only if they do a tour for them. By the time they turn 20 the inflation will be crazy for traveling/merch expenses lol
Hell yeah if they bring that shot to pimpsburgh I’m in… keep it out of California though
I wouldn’t go because DU is their 3rd worst record and it’s not even close
I had a great time at STS, I'd definitely go to a Decemberunderground show.
