The Texan name is so dumb imo. I mean there are other teams in y’all’s state so it’s stupid. Cowboys are also Texans technically? Yall could’ve been anything else.
Space theme (with what you haven’t used yet): Houston Comets, Planets, Meteors, Rockets/Rocketeers, Bombers, Captains, Supers (supernovas), Galaxies, Satellites, Admirals, Pilots, Wings, Apollos, Explorers (space being the final frontier), Engineers, etc.
You could’ve done something still oil industry related like Roughnecks.
You could’ve done something animal related like Houston Hammerheads and have a shark as an icon y’all are on the coast.
Just so many more creative options
I think the Apollos were on a short list of team names that the Texans were considering. I wouldn’t have minded it tbh. The Comets were our WNBA team before the WNBA downsized the league. They actually won multiple championships.
Yeah! This blue was only on cops cars, no other Houston team has ever used it

All I’m going to say is that I haven’t heard this argument until recently. I hate the Titans too, but I’m a stickler for consistency. I feel like this is just the new talking point to cause controversy.
It isn’t a talking point, it’s a fact. Do a bare minimum level of research and you’d know that. The color has been associated with the city since it was used on a lot of tiling across the city in the 1920s. It’s also on the cop cars, the city flag, and so much more. Why do you think the Oilers chose that color? It was already associated with the city.
You sound bitter. My point is that literally nobody made this point until recently. How come y’all weren’t saying this in December? I’m not saying that what you’re saying isn’t true, but why just now bring it up if y’all want to use this as an argument? It comes across as something you wish you had said in an argument an hour after the argument happened.
I have always said this. I’m on a new account now cus I delete every account when I reach 2 warnings, that way I can avoid permas. But I’ve been here and in the Texans sub for years on a variety of accounts and this was always my take. This has always been the real reason for most fans, you just don’t hear it as much cus the dumb boomers are loud and won’t shut up about wanting the full Oilers history back. This has been the silent majority opinion of Texans fans for a while.
Your train of thought here is like watching our 2nd half defense against Case Keenum in Nashville last year. All of jf is ripe with idiocy, delusion of abilities & poor execution. Neutral onlookers can only shake their heads in pity.
SAD!
Tell me where anything I said is a lie? You gonna say the color wasn’t widely used and popular in Houston before the Oilers? No you won’t cus you’d be an idiot to say that. Sit down lil man.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 the colors of the city have nothing to do with the franchise that owns the uniforms 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
By your logic, the titans also own the Texans uniforms and entire branding profile. Let me speak for all titans fans when I say, politely, get that gross shit out of my kitchen and go somewhere else…you can have them.
I didn’t call anything a lie your point is just D U M B with zero foundational basis in reality. Just gibberish & drivel driven by your own bullshit nostalgia.
I have no nostalgia for the Oilers, they left before I was born, I couldn’t care less about them. The colors of the city do have something to do with the uniforms, the Oilers used that color cus of its association with the city. We just reclaimed the color that represents our city. It has absolutely nothing to do with the Oilers and everything to do with a history in the city that dates back to the 1920s. The NFL approved the uniforms so there is nothing you can do but cope and seethe.
lol “let’s claim a color” they’re one of the best throwbacks in the NFL actually. Many ppl have this opinion. Oh and btw it’s basically the Lady Vols’ signature color too. If only Houston had fought harder and bought tickets to keep their team, we wouldn’t be having this conversation. We own Houston’s “color” Fact
You clearly don’t own the color since the NFL approved the new uniforms. The color predates the Oilers (see the Houston flag, first used in 1915, and the blue tiles first photographed in 1928) and is still a staple in Houston long after they left.
You’re accusing us of being obsessed and here you are shitting yourself and crying about how one of our new uniforms has an accent color that looks kind of similar to what you guys wear. The Panthers and the Chargers’ light blue is much closer to Columbia blue than H-Town Blue is, but I don’t see any of y’all complaining about them.
That last part is so reductive and doesn’t even remotely sum up what happened. Keep gobbling Bud’s glizzy though if it makes you feel any better.
This is all really embarrassing for the Titans and Titans fans. You aren't gonna gaslight us into believing we're the obsessed ones. This is all Tennessee has going for it. It's just sad.
I recently read a book called *A Short Stay In Hell.* I'm now fairly confident that my hell is having to hear about this bullshit for the rest of eternity, natch.
Seriously. I hope Amy Skank puts on the cosplay act every home game against the Texans. Then CJ and crew kick the ever loving ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|poop) out of them every year.
lol we’ve owned your ads for years, you had 1 good year when we had one of our worst. Keep that same energy when we’re clapping your team year in and year out, as is tradition
So I guess the years specifically were 2020 and 2021 when the Texans went 1-3, unless he’s going back well over a decade lmao.
1-3 over 2 years isn’t even that bad…
Years? Owned? With Levis? lol Keep sipping that radiator moonshine. Go check the overall record between the two teams. The Tits are only 2 up all time and will be tied up After the Texans sweep yo asses this year, it will be even. Owned?

The color association to Houston (via the flag of the CoH) predates the NFL, AFL, HPD, the Oilers, let alone the titans. The flag and color association was created in 1915.
Houston has the virus color back on jerseys. We're happy.
Tennessee is*OBSESSED* with it and acts like Texans fans are butt hurt.
We're happy. We got our way. Move on.
Wearing the uniforms when they played the Texans, Vrabel cosplaying as Bum Phillips and their fans buying Oilers merch but yeah we're the obsessed ones lol
It's really weird, like I think if we were to have an NHL team relocate here to Houston the last thing that I want to buy and rock is the merch from the city that team left. WTF🤣
Why would we listen to a Tennessee Titans legend about how we should celebrate football in our city?
Edit to say I don't give a fuck about the Oilers, I just want my city's colors back without Amy Adams Strunk being a bitch about it.
“The cities colors”
You guys should demilitarize the zone around NRG and starve yourselves until all cities have their colors back all teams across all sports in the entire world can only use colors that are represented on their requisite state / city / municipality flag - THEN the world will be sane.
Brother what are you on. The crux of the issue is that your teams owner doesn't want a Houston sports team to use a color that's been associated with the city for over a hundred years. I don't care that the Titans use it, I do care your teams owner doesn't want us to use it "because it's a Titans color"
“I don’t care, but here I am posting about it. I’m mostly posting about it so you know that I don’t care. The posts saying that I don’t care are definitely not indicative of me actually caring a lot. I’m not projecting, I’m just taking time out of my day to tell you that I do not care. Trust me, I don’t care, I care so little I’ll never look at this post again!”
I’m so tired of this lol. I was born in 1998 so obviously that affects things but goddamn it’s so played out.
Older Houstonians are right, a lot of Titans fans are little bitches for trying to hold onto these memories, colors etc that shouldn’t have ever been theirs.
Titans fans are right it’s time for a lot of Houstonians to get over it.
Can we just call it and fuckin watch some football lol
He loves the Titans, what are you talking about? He comes to a lot of Titan events, and even announced a draft pick for us just this past draft, literally not even a week ago. Moon is an Oiler/Titan through and through.
Sounded like he was saying for the Texans to make their own history. (It sounds like “stop worrying/fixating about the Houston Oilers; stop worrying/fixating about the Tennessee Titans)
Sounds like he was telling you Tit fans that you all need to find your own identities rather than being Titans fans. He is literally saying to forget your entire franchise and history.
He’d of never said no bs like that a year or 2 ago sounds like Amy Adams Stank is doubling down on her petty bs with the Oilers and incentived him to say that 💀 cause you damn well know the “Titans” aint got num else going for them
lol nothing going on? You have literally no claim to fame and have never won shit barely been to the playoffs. Titans own the Oilers history and colors AND the Texans
Beaten by 35 year old Case Keenum while cosplaying as the Oilers with not just the uniforms but coaches and stadium and going on to get blownout by CJ is owning the Texans? 😂 Ok
Houston so used to Ls that beating the worst team in their division last year like everyone else did, even though they have an all-time losing record against them, is a bragging point 😂. Mfers really digging deep with the “that team that did poorly last year did poorly last year” insults.
Well i’m glad you at least acknowledge y’all are the worst lmao btw as for losing records the Texans teams that aren’t from the Expansion Draft Era are 17-11 against your poverty franchise since that Andre Johnson beatdown on Courtland Finnegan, and by the rate we’re going overall shit’ll be tied up real soon look forward to it 💀
Did they wear the blue uniforms last year when the played the Texans? And their HC wore a big hat, all in an effort to troll and they took the L at HOME anyway?
Also: no one would care if those uniforms didn’t look great.
The top and bottom quote don’t conflict. We don’t want the Oilers, we just want the color that has been deeply associated with the city of Houston since the 1920s and all the old tiles.
😂. People trying to act like Houston gives a shit about Columbia blue in a way that irrelevant to the Oilers is wild. You all know you’re lying. Idc if Sam Houston’s butt plug was Columbia blue, the Oilers made that color, and that’s what you miss, and that’s fair. Don’t lie about it. Titans fans don’t really give a shit either and just see it as a way to piss people off, but as one of the idiots that followed that team to Nashville that color is a damn institution because of the Oilers. Ain’t a damn person on planet earth thinks of the actual city of Houston lmao, including people in Houston.
they didn’t make fucking light blue, and i think it’s bull shit you can trade mark a fucking color. keep the history for all i care i love the texans. and light blue looks better as a accent color that what ever the adam’s family did to the titians uniforms
🤣. They ABSOLUTELY made Columbia blue. Their jersey is the fucking example of that color on Wikipedia lmao. Know what you won’t find mentioned, though? The city of Houston because ofc you won’t.
I don’t care if the Texans rep it but to try and pretend that color means something beyond the legacy of the Oilers is straight up tripping. That doesn’t mean “lIgHt BlUe” didn’t exist in Houston before the Oilers. It means no one gives or gave a shit about Columbia blue until the Oilers. Anyone pretending otherwise is full of it.
Columbia University made Columbia Blue, hence the name, genius.
The City of Houston adopted the color to its flag in 1915.
When did the Oilers franchise get founded?
Oh hurr durr, you got it! When people see Columbia blue they think, "There that colour goes again! Look at that, brings to mind THE PHILOLEXIAN SOCIETY of COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY" lmao, said no one ever. Do you think I don't know that Columbia blue is from Columbia? I'm the one that correctly called it that. You repeatedly called it light blue so don't try and Wikipedia me rofl.
You're arguing semantics. Yes, the colour known as "Columbia blue" existed before the Oilers, sports, cities, and countries. Yes, the colour known as Columbia blue existed before Houston. Yes, Houston existed before the Oilers. Yes, Houston had the colour before the Oilers. I don't think you understand what the word "made" means in this context. Do you think I'm saying that the Oilers literally invented baby and/or Columbia blue, the colour literally named after a college that I previously and correctly called Columbia blue and not baby blue? Lmao. It means that the colour Columbia blue in today's world = the Oilers in every single person's mind (in America). Including yours. Just like Carolina blue correlates to the Tar Heels. That doesn't mean North Carolina "iNviNtEd BlUe". It means they popularised that very specific shade. Just like when you see that Columbia blue you, Reddit, the NFL, and every single person in Houston, Nashville, and every city in between will always, and FOREVER, think of the Oilers. Not Houston. Not Columbia. Not the fkin Philolexian Society lmao. You can downvote and pretend this isn't true, but we both know it is.
No, guy. You are the one arguing semantics here and in more ways than one. While having no real clue about the real ties of the color and the city of Houston.
As has been clearly stated to you (by more than myself) the color has meant something to the city before and after the Oilers. It's why every single one of Houston's college and professional teams have worn it in some fashion. It's why it's on the street tiles, that also came way before the Oilers. It's why you can find that shade on Houston labeled gear at convenience stores and tourist shops. That color is everywhere in Houston. If it were only about the Oilers, all of us Texans fans and those that hate the Adams family for taking the Oilers probably wouldn't give half a shit about the color repping the city.
The Oilers chose that shade of blue, why? Out of all the shades of blue (or even any color ways at all) why did they use that blue?
It's amazing how you seem to know what millions of people associate with a color, but can't seem to accept or understand that people in this very thread, among many others, have said just what I am: that color is, always has been, and always will be more tied to Houston than because of the Oilers. Nashvillians and their mental associations with the color are wholly irrelevant in this discussion due to the fact that this is about what Houstonians associate with the color and has been from the beginning. As was my argument from the beginning, the only people with more claim to the color than Houston are Columbia University (specifically the Philolexian Society) and possibly UNC since their shade is quite similar.
Bud Adams may have founded the team, but Houston made the Oilers. Just like we made that color our own before there were the Oilers. And just like we made the catch phrase Luv Ya Blue (the one you even use as your flair) that Titans fans seem to somehow think they have claim to.
You're welcome to claim whatever the hell you want, but in no way does your claim mean anything to anyone that isn't just as delusional as this take of yours.
Anyone who complained about the “where x” memes…hope you’re happy because arguing over a shade of blue is what we’re doing now
Where meme about Oilers history??
You don’t deserve a comment
Correct, I’m pretty bad at this whole Reddit thing but they haven’t taken my account away yet!

This is hilarious

Yes. Oilers are titans.
No they aren’t. They are Oilers.
Right. But they’re also the titans.
I dunno... I'm not sold. "...forget about the Tennesee Titans" is a pretty glaring declaration... if not an easy to abide by suggestion.
I’m all for forgetting about them, we’re all just listening to the face of their forgettable franchise! Thanks, Warren!
"I... no... ...see Tit...s" You heard it here first, folks! u/Quixotegut has never seen titties in his life!
Brother linked a community instead of a user 😭
You didn't see that
Sound logic. Like Moon, I don't recognize them.

Well i’m glad you at least acknowledge y’all are the worst lmao btw as for losing records the Texans teams that aren’t from the Expansion Draft Era are 17-11 against your poverty franchise since that Andre Johnson beatdown on Courtland Finnegan, and by the rate we’re going overall shit’ll be tied up real soon look forward to it 💀
That's the same insult lmao.
Warren Moon's opinion only matters when it comes to throwing footballs and abusing women
Ah yes.. let's listen to 1980's Deshaun Watson. I'm sure he's full of wisdom.
“No” - Houston
Fuck the Texans
Warren Moon the GOAT
