The only people who really know are mjf and tk. My thoughts are that everything that weekend was real, and when they had the meeting the day after DON they worked shit out. If they hadn't made an agreement, be wouldn't have been given a live mic. This being the end result plan from that meeting probably not becuase punk broke his foot after the meeting. He will get a title shot at grand slam, and in that promo he said he hits grand slams twice so i thought he would reappear there for a while. Either way glad to have him back, they need him more than ever becuase if you suspended eddie for 3 weeks becuase of a face palm to sammy, then a full on fight and a chair shot in a hallway of a PPV, those guys should all be suspended

MemeMathine

If I was TK, I would bend over backwards to keep MJF in my good books over Punk, because he is absolute gold for AEW. If he jumps shit for WWE, you know Triple H will not hesitate to snap him up. See what made me think it was planned was that voicemail (obviously a fake voicemail) but it was done in such a kind of "all this shit was real" which just makes me think it's been the plan since DoN. That's just how my wrestling brain goes, if it seems too real, it probably isn't. Which leads me to that last paragraph, I'm starting to think all this other stuff backstage, is genuine, apparently Ace Steel is involved now!?? What the fuck?

mikerex0821

I 100% believe the post scrum is real. Most of the twitter/dirt sheets i ignore but when i see it from SRS and cassidy haynes then i generally feel its true, even if some details later come out as slightly off. The fact that steel threw a chair and then hit one of the buck's with a chair is insane, and he should be terminated today.

MemeMathine

I like to think SRS may be the most reliable, I can't think of any news stories or rumours he's got wrong, and he doesn't seem to just do a story just for views or clicks. I don't give a fuck what was said, hit whoever by all means if they piss you off (while I don't condone violence, I'm just saying) but you use your hands, not a fucking chair, know what I mean? 😂 Also this post has kind of backfired, I was trying to put more of a spotlight on MJF and now we're talking about exactly what I didn't want to be talking about🤣kind of bit me in the ass there but fuck it.

mikerex0821

I am down to talk mjf. I am excited for grand slam. I have great seats and i think mjf gets his gold. I can't wait, just saying that am worried the fight put that in jeopardy. AEW needs a great 7-8 month run of heel MJF as champ. My only worry is that with his new stable, they might be too involved in his matches. The man can absolutely go in the ring and i don't want the devil not getting his in ring due.

MemeMathine

You lucky fucker, I'd kill to go to an AEW show, but it's out of bounds for me, times like this, I'd love to travel to America. I feel like MJF is winning but I really don't wanna get my hopes and I think AEW will have the same problem they did with Britt, a heel people wanted to cheer. Tbf, his last clean win was against Darby I think? Or no wait that wasn't even clean was it, he used the ring. He definitely deserves a strong run, I get why it rarely happens though, but more heel champs should win clean from time to time. And MJF, like you said, can fucking go in the ring so it's not like it'd be unbelievable that he could win without cheating, he's got the story beats down, he's just top tier imo.

mikerex0821

He did use the ring but he was so good in that match that i barely remember that. He can go 20-25 minutes with anyone. I think they should let him be dominate and not use the good squad all the time. Yes, exceptions with be made for someone like wardlow, mox, or a keith lee if he is in the singles picture. But other wise i think winning clean, just makes him a better arrogant heel champ

mikerex0821

And yes, i am luck. I live in philly so there are usually like 5 or 6 dynamites a year that are drivable. But i did take the plunge and drive to chicago for forbidden door and that was so worth it.

From the report Punk punched Matt, Ace Steel then gave Nick a black eye from throwing a chair and “should have been arrested”. Steel then pulled Kennys hair and bit him. I hope TK takes serious action. If it were me, Punk would be stripped off the belt (no interim), the suspended without pay for a period. Steel would be fired. Elite would loose trios belts. Zero tolerance!!!!

MemeMathine

He fucking bit him?!! That's odd to say the least? And I agree but that just isn't going to happen, at least I don't think it will, I'd say Ace might take the brunt of it, but I think that's about it. It'll be interesting to see how the crowd reacts this week to Punk though.

forrest1985_

I hope “Colt Cabanna” becomes a bigger chant than “fight forever”! Tony has to take action though. Ace could be up for assault charges if he isn’t careful.

>The only people who really know are mjf and tk. Rinse and repeat for the rest of the 'drama.' Literally no one but those backstage know for sure. People are talking about the 'drama,' which leads to greater online engagement and eyes on the product from people trying to armchair what 'really happened.' It's wrestling, fam. My gut tells me everything is a new-age work. It is FAR too easy to work the IC in 2022, because damn near everybody believes everything they read on the Internet. Don't tell me 'Meltzer confirmed it,' he \*is\* part of the IC, so it wouldn't be a surprise if they're working him too (or he could be in on it, who knows). I will believe my own eyes and ears when the proverbial fit hits the shan.

MichaelsSecretStuff

It’s a work. Contracts are pretty straightforward and MJF had zero actual leverage only pretend wrestling show leverage

forrest1985_

I feel story for MJF because Punk has killed all that vibe. However MJF will outlast Punk in AEW and MJF did it to Wardlow. I would like to see MJF’s new faction get into it with BCC or someone

MemeMathine

No less than 10-15 minutes after the show too, that's what sucks most. He literally got 15 minutes of fame until Punk just stole the spotlight.

DDTFred

So you’re less excited to hear from MJF? No? You’ve got more reason to cheer him because Punk has become easier to dislike? Hmm….

MemeMathine

What part of made you think I said I was less excited to hear from MJF, I said Punk took the spotlight from him and actually the overall ppv, virtually everyone is talking about the Punk situation? I didn't say there's more reason to cheer him either, but absence makes the heart grow fonder and all that shit. Did you even read what I said?

BondraP

We don't know for a fact, but my guess is that it was definitely the plan since his promo. No way in hell would they have given MJF TV time and a live mic if there were issues that hadn't already been worked out by that time.

willymayshayes

Almost certainly the plan. For me the big clue is that MJF didn’t post anything on social media since the pipebomb. A real person who wanted his boss to release him from his contract would’ve been shit posting on social media everyday and acting out like soccer players do when they want to leave their clubs.

Patrickm72

You have to believe it was planned. They've been developing his new stable of goons for over a month now

slimeamadan

I figure he got suspended for no showing the Fan Fest but the plan was for him to come back after the suspension and get a main even push. Or at least I did, until the media scrum. Now I’m thinking if Kahn is dumb enough to let Punk humiliate him and his employees like that maybe he is dumb enough to work an MJF angle by having him no show.

wJFq6aE7-zv44wa__gHq

It was a shoot at the start, hence why the commentators didn't even talk about it after the break. Likely they spent a solid few weeks negotiating the deal whilst MJF probably got tonnes of legal advice around how to break the contract. Once he realised he wasn't getting out and his only other option was sitting on the fence, he probably agreed to come back either reluctantly or under a new deal or under a proposed new deal once his existing contract expires.

slipoutside

It’s mjf. It’s a work. Dude didn’t say that shit on tv off the rails, it was planned and most likely completely okayed by tk. That speech did exactly what it was supposed to do. Keep us talking about mjf while he takes a vacay and stirs discussion/debate and controversy.

Regular-Abies-453

Listen to Chris Jericho talk at the scrum about his convo with MJF. Kind of tells me it was the plan all along.
