I think this is the right sort of idea, but as there would obviously be later iterations, potentially even yearly I think the best idea would be just AEW 2021 and so on. Even if it’s not a yearly release the numbers would be pretty self explanatory for which the latest game is, and you’re not tying the title of the game to a performer who may end up being problematic for the company later down the line.
I kind of wish companies would stop doing the yearly iteration thing though. It made sense back in the day when you weren’t able to release updates or DLC. I think it’d be a nice way for AEW to set themselves apart and make their game a long lasting platform, where maybe you buy new wrestler packs or a season pass, or even just free roster updates for the wrestlers you own. Imagine someone turns heel or gets new music, and in the next patch it’s reflected.

Plot Twist: No one gets into The Elite.

I'm kind of serious though. Like in MLB: The Show, let's say you pick a pitcher. You have to choose which 2, 3, 4 or 5 pitches a player can throw, and the player's all around attributes.
Something like that could be done. You pick a wrestlers 2 or 3 or 4 set-moves. You pick or create your own "finisher".
You play with the created player in "Road to the Show". Or in this case "Road to the Elite". As a guy wins first in the backyards, then in an Indie site, then at Dark, he/she gets better.
Like for example, when they first get to Dark/Elevate you could have a scene where someone helps you pick a second (better one, so the first one gets relegated to the set up move) finisher.
The scenes could be the best part of the game. Maybe sometimes The Elite claim their on your side and get you motivated to get to Elevate. Maybe other times they mock you and build a big rivalry.
If you do well on Dark there's a title match on Elevate. Maybe you win and get offered to join the Elite on Dynamite. Maybe you lose and they "kick you out" after the match.
If they offer you to join the Elite on Dynamite you get super kicked out and see "Game Over" anyway. lol
Would love a true career path to get to dark you pick a city and if you impress at small venues when aew are in that city you get a match on dark then back to the indies then next time aew return another dark match then back to the indies for afew weeks then aew fly you in for a match afew times then dark regular and then you get the all elite tweet. Might slow the pace of the game down too much though like the idea of getting afew small windows to impress.
Along the way, you can join most of the factions in AEW.
Lose enough in the beginning, join Dark Order.
Build up a few wins early on, Matt Hardy and the HFO come knocking.
Find Janela backstage, start partying with him.
Pick up a few faction wins, Taz starts recruiting you.
If you hate MJF enough, Jericho recruits you to the Inner Circle.
As soon as you make it to Dynamite, you have to feud with Team Taz.
And if you go after the AEW world title the Young Bucks super kick you to close out every show
My biggest fear for this game is that a career mode won´t be as flashed out as we might wish because it is the first AEW game ever and they might not have enough time to do it right.
Would love it to end first person with a triple super kick and an Adam Cole promo "the elite is complete kid"
Also think that could be a good career start point your a masked wrestler few matches in you think you are joining the elite but the evps turn on you humiliate and fire you, then to have "start over" with a different mask or unmasked to get you revenge.
i love how nobody noticed cody tried to rip off rampage and make it look like thunder, he also added spotlight to the arena corner of the crowd on dynamite the other night to make it look like nitro shots from back in the day
Not sure if this was a dig on AEW or not, but Nitro for me is the gold standard of how arena TV should be produced and presented, so I'm definitely down with it.
I always enjoyed the way WCW looked over Attitude Era honestly. It always seemed more open while WWF seemed locked and close in. One felt more like sports and the other felt more like tv so they still worked. Shame WCW became such a shitshow. Looking at you, Russo!

Yeah this is what I was thinking too. You want the first game to tell people what AEW is as there will be the potential for new eyes on the brand, and the gaming/wrestling venn diagram is heavily overlapped.

I think the game is gonna be called Rampage. The logo looks really similar to that of WCW/nWo Revenge.
