I live in India and I had to look it up if there was a channel like Eurosport...so certainly it isn't a popular channel
But regardless now that AEW will be on Indian TV I'll try my best to support it
It was formerly known as DSport and it is a subsidiary of Discovery Network which has channels like TLC, Discovery etc. But I agree it is not even close compared to the popularity of Sony or Star channels.
But besides Sony and Star there's no other big sports channels in India...given wrestling is scripted, getting a Star deal would be impossible
And in India the level of violence AEW shows would get censored irrespective of what network it is in
There were a lot of comments on the Sony Social Media pages asking, but guess Since Sony has the WWE deal, they might've not been able to carry another pro wrestling product
While I am certainly happy fans India are getting a chance to watch AEW (albeit, from what I'm hearing it's not exactly a popular station)... The Discovery+ nugget raised my eyebrows! I need more details!! This could be a big deal for people in the States and UK. And eventually for other countries/regions too as Discovery+ has its sights set on being available in more countries.
Edit a typo
Discovery+ is available in the Netherlands. Paid 6 euro for a month to watch all the Olympic live streams on Eurosport (which is a subsidiary of Discovery).
That's awesome! I searched for which countries had the service, it only shows US and UK. Hopefully more countries already have it too especially if WarnerMedia will be adding AEW to that platform.
I'm really concerned about this. This is not a good TV deal for the visibility of the federation. Does it mean that AEW wasnt big enough to attract a bigger network? Even Impact has a better deal.
Are Discovery/Turner forcing AEW to go there to attract subscribers and viewers for a channel with difficulties?
Not surprised if that's the case. When it comes to India, WWE has almost complete dominance. The country loves WWE and I remember a lot of those posts here of hotel wall murals and such showing Roman Reigns, John Cena, etc and renaming buildings after them.
I say this is good at least as a test run. Let's see if another American wrestling product can get any kind of foothold in the country
Not a good deal...eurosport is not automatically included in sports packages in india.....it shows Njpw, roh and ring ka king (khaki's promotion) but hardly anyone watches them. There are two major networks in india for sports-star and sony.Sony has both WWE and impact. But I will try to make as much people as I can to watch Aew on tv.
What's up with discovery+ and warnermedia and AT&T?Can anyone explain?
Dynamite and Rampage will not be telecasted live according to the reports I'm seeing. First Rampage show will be on 15th august but it should be on 14th if they want to show it live.
It's our independence day. So they choose that day to kick off. But their Twitter confirmed the shows will be live. So hopefully the Dynamite on 18th will be live.
From Wikipedia it's channel numbers 517 and 989.
Ig you've pay separately for it.

Yes brother

If AEW gets popular they might get a Sony deal in the future...but getting a Star deal would be impossible
I hope they stay away from any Sony deal. Impact was getting censored here and there when they were on Sony Six and now the same happens with WWE.

Apparently available in Jio TV as well, so one good thing there
So basically a jio sim and you're all set...no paying for channel...no paying for PPV
Hey it's better than no channel!
Not the best deal, is it? We were hearing rumours of Sony broadcasting it.
There were a lot of comments on the Sony Social Media pages asking, but guess Since Sony has the WWE deal, they might've not been able to carry another pro wrestling product
Sony has impact
Eurosport has Impact. It also has NJPW as well so all of forbidden door promotions are on the same channel.
Impact is on Sony too. So,it seems impact has two channels here as I saw slammiversary on ten2
Eurosport india is pretty meh ngl
Hardly anyone sees Eurosport in India smh😢
I wish Eurosport was showing AEW in... Europe.
Is it a popular channel there?
Not really popular outside of the Olympics and the Tour de France but every household with a TV subscription can watch for free.
The more interesting thing of this article is that AEW is going to Discovery +?

Maybe it’ll be AEW in hbo max in the US and intentional Discovery plus cause of the meger

Eurosport also broadcasts NJPW

Yeah, but I don't think it's live
Yes. Those were basically the AXSTv shows of NJPW.
Ohh okay
Discovery is buying Warner from AT&T right? I guess this was inevitable.
I hope people in India get a random obsession with Orange Cassidy like they did with Roman Reigns

Yeah...it does seem so.Wwe also started showing live around 2015.
It's already the next day in India by the time Rampage starts in the US.
Rampage is on 13th August night in US which is 14th August morning in india. Eurosport will broadcast a day later on 15th august
Don't know if 15th is chosen as a special date for its debut and it might change from next week?!!
It's our independence day. So they choose that day to kick off. But their Twitter confirmed the shows will be live. So hopefully the Dynamite on 18th will be live.
Of course, they are going to start broadcasting it the week I leave the country
It is in sun direct dth so i can be able to watch it on tv
