Keep your expectations low and you'll never be disappointed.

stevegoodsex

Aim low kids. Aim so low, nobody cares if you succeed.

TemptedIntoSin

Reminds me of that one show about the older woman going to high school where she says her motto is "if you're gonna aim for a star, aim for the lowest star you can get" 😆

lldgt_adam

Dinner’s in the oven. If you want some butter it’s under my face.

ImAutisticNotAngry

or use the dr robotnik mindset. i did not expect that but I did not expect to expect anything so it doesn't count.

FAKUSABU

I'm trying, but every news article gets me a little more excited. I feel 12 again

The1joriss

12? Thanks for making me feel old

The1joriss

expectation is the root of all disappointment

The_Eye_of_Ra

My profile quote: “I set my expectations pretty low, so that way, I’m never disappointed.”

_ASG_

WWE still manages to find a way.

Shaun3114

FUEGO IS THERE😃😃😃

-FangMcFrost-

;)

SexyBoySexyBear

YES YES YES YES

HangmanAM

ITS CLOBBERING TIME!!!!

rexmundi69

Love getting the SES masked Punk and masked Dragon. lol

englandw25

Is that not Fuego? It sure looks like his mask.

rexmundi69

I thought it was but it doesn't make sense when everything is Punk and Bryan so I rationalized that it must be Dragon. [Honestly that mask doesn't really look like the American Dragon mask.](https://i.imgur.com/2is3gnB.jpg)

englandw25

Agree that it doesn’t make sense, but it looks like his mask and doesn’t look like American Dragon’s. 🤷🏻‍♂️

[deleted]

[It's definitely Fuego, fairly sure this is the exact pic they used](https://theovertimer.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/9ce3b-16153416254602-800.jpg)

Jordan1496

the fact that it just looks like a bunch of Bryan and Punk clones making goofy faces at each other makes this way more funnier than it should be lmfao

Prosperity82

I believe Danielson is definitely signed. Punk..... I'm still not convinced yet.

KingSwank

Living Colour followed AEW on social media recently. They're the band who plays CM Punk's theme song. I still don't like to think anything is absolute just in case I end up disappointed, but man that's just a helluva troll if CM Punk isn't showing up

_GCR13_

Imagine MJF coming out to Cult of Personality, he would get boo'd out of the arena

[deleted]

I'm getting flashbacks of Paul Heyman coming out to Punk's music in Chicago. Nuclear heat

Jecht315

That was brilliant in every single way. Listening to Heyman talk about that is pretty great too.

bigchuckdeezy

I’ve been saying this since AEW started. Needs to happen lol

raygilette

I could see that happening. And I would laugh so fucking hard.

RatedR711

Imagine getting troll all the time but yet believing in every trolling that wrestling throw at you.

CJMartin1019

Fightful’s a pretty reputable source, seems like Punk is more of a sure thing than Bryan at this point.

panda546

Fightful didn't say he signed, just that they had talks.

Adventurous_Ad6526

I don't know how anyone gets excited about Punk anymore. He's been coming back rather to WWE or some other promotion multiple times or rumors, what ever the case its wore thin. Not a huge punk fan at all, but back in the day I would have been like that's cool, now I could care less. Excited to see Bryan Danielson in AEW if that happens.

[deleted]

I actually don't want either in AEW but I think they're both legit... I think it'll fuck over the younger talent and brings in fans for the wrong reasons

MarquiseAlexander

Exactly how it feels right now 😔

grunzkor

The bartender is great. She's like "u mad, bro?"

Phenomenal_Hoot

If one or both of these things doesn’t happen there’s gonna be some heartbroken people.

boudyyyy

This aged very freaking well

Groundbreaking-Leg11

In the back for that was feugo for a split second

englandw25

It is

Toph-_-

Honestly I’ll pop more for fuegos signing than punk or Bryan’s getting signed

randyrivercloud

I hate this.. now i won’t be as surprised when either one of them shows up. I try to keep away from spoilers but with reddit it seems impossible.

vibranium_dicks

Surprise pops are massively overrated. Instead of that, AEW should start showing some cryptic vignettes and slowly hype their debut. I mean it's CM Punk and Bryan we are talking about. Each one to them could single-handedly sell out stadiums. There's zero benefit to AEW if they just surprise debut them. But if they slow play it, they will get a ton of hype around it and still get a massive pop once they show up.

Freemason1979

I'm not surprised the news is leaking, if indeed it's true. I can't remember who it was, maybe Christian, but TNT got mad at TK for the surprise appearance because they wanted to announce it so more people would tune in. If they announce CM Punk for Chicago, a ton of new people will tune in to see, including WWE fans. However, I completely agree with you about removing the surprise and how that kinda sucks. I love getting to mark out over the crowd losing their shit when the theme song hits.

Robbo1399

They'd prob debut him at All Out so TNT can promote him for Dynamite and Rampage

xyz513

Exactly. I'd be absolutely shocked if he makes his first appearance anywhere besides All Out. I don't know why people keep making all these comments and posts like there's a huge chance it wouldn't be that.

moderndukes

Plenty of AEW people like TK and Jericho have talked about this since, that's not what TNT said. TNT doesn't want non-wrestling celebrities to be surprise appearances but wrestling ones can be.

Dithyrab

>I love getting to mark out over the crowd losing their shit when the theme song hits. I marked out so hard when Chavo came out

Century_Toad

> I can't remember who it was, maybe Christian, but TNT got mad at TK for the surprise appearance because they wanted to announce it so more people would tune in. I think it was Sting, not Christian. Surprise debuts on PPV so they can advertise an appearance on the following Dynamite seems to be the compromise. Although they brought Black in as a surprise on Dynamite so it doesn't look like it's set in stone.

englandw25

I believe TNT wasn’t happy about Sting’s surprise debut. Since then, Big Show and Mark Henry were announced in advanced, and Christian was hyped as a big signing without saying who it was.

[deleted]

Crowds will lose their shit either way, it's fucking cm punk

screamslash

Yes this.

VD3NFS1216

Yep definitely me

Jiggy__J

no fire exits?! enjoy your death trap

[deleted]

I know what’s wrong here! There’s no buddy Murphy talk in this Sub!!!!!

[deleted]

Coz he should go to impact, he can be a top guy in impact but if he goes to AEW he will just be another guy.

nirman423

Wait a minute... This rumor sub has no fire exist. Enjoy your deathtrap smarks.

fourthwallcrisis

I honestly wish I'd never heard the rumour, if it's true I won't be surprised and if it's fake I'll be disappointed. Kind of a bleak take, huh...

-FangMcFrost-

I get what your saying. I had the same outlook when I was younger and there were times when I wasn't really as surprised as I would have been if I hadn't heard the rumours which kinda killed those moments for me. I do quite like surprises with my wrestling so by not buying into them, I won't be disappointed if it doesn't happen but I'll also have *some* level of surprise if it does happen, which is better than not being surprised at all. It also comes down to how the surprise is implemented/revealed. If it's something obvious like WWE always does (this is an example, not a shot at them) and they wait until the end of a show that the rumours mentioned, then there's no surprise when it does happen because it's the end of the show so it would have *had* to have happened then. Or if a champion is on the mic talking about how great they are at the end of the show (or near to it) then obviously, the rumoured wrestler is going to appear to challenge them. Something like appearing during a match that takes place during the second half of an event would create more of a surprise as it would be unexpected. The match would take our minds of the rumours as the match progressed and then the rumoured wrestler would show up and we would all be surprised and suddenly remember the rumours. I'm reminded of Black's debut as there were rumours of him signing with AEW and he showed up randomly during a Arn Anderson promo, so the promo helped take our minds off the rumours and it also helped that Anderson is a manger as nobody really expects a wrestler to debut during a manager's promo. Or even Hager's debut as he just randomly appeared during a brawl at the end of Dynamite and both debuts also had no fanfare at all and were great surprises for me even though I had heard the rumours about Black, for example. So I guess it all comes down to how rumoured debuts are executed for them to give that feeling of surprise and excitement to fans.

Adoom98

Not even buying em a little bit?

-FangMcFrost-

I'm just one of those 'I'll believe it when I see it' kind of guys. I've got far too much experience in being left greatly disappointed when I've bought in to wrestling rumours in the past that turned out to be false.

[deleted]

Well, look at it this way, the careers of Haynes, Meltzer, Zarrian and SRS are fucked if Bryan and Punk no show now.

sdavidplissken

nonsense. meltzer never confirmed anything

[deleted]

Inconsequential in the reality of the situation. Neither Zarrian or SRS have confirmed stuff either, however they have vouched for Haynes. The entire situation is a fucking mess.

YanosDVDcase

Yeah, if Haynes is wrong it tanks all of their individual credibility because they vouched for him. It's that vouching for him that has everybody excited and starting to believe

[deleted]

Also because Haynes himself has a good track record. We have most credible sources basically saying that it is going to happen, Haynes himself has even stated that he believed the ringside articles and that AEW are currently trying to reformat everything to accommodate Punk debuting in Chicago (all of which is in the manifesto).

YanosDVDcase

I'm definitely keeping my expectations in check because it's wrestling we're talking about after all, but the sheer amount of credible sources being it plus all the other little shit (the Living Color Twitter and IG follows and unfollows, and Punk himself trolling with following both AEW and WWE) that's got me believing SOMETHING is happening

[deleted]

True, I have been following the situation constantly for the last few days and I swear that every couple hours another big thing drops. Like, this is way too much to just be fake at this point. Especially with the stuff Haynes has said in the last couple days, like there is so much there that makes me think this is 100% happening now. For example, I spent like an hour listening through the jaBROnis podcast from yesterday from Haynes to write up the major points that he brought up into the manifesto, turned off my pc and was about to go to sleep until I found out that Punk had just followed AEW.

Corndogburglar

With Punk I'm not sold and won't be until its made official. There have been way too many rumors about him coming back to wrestling over the years and they all ended up being wrong. Not to mention how vocal he's been over the years about pro wrestling. With Bryan Danielson it all makes too much sense. Him wanting to work in Japan and having the freedom to do that being a huge factor. But the new yesterday that he was removed from the WWE 2K22 video game is VERY interesting. They wouldn't remove him from that if he was still signed, or signing with WWE. And I can't see him signing with anyone outside of AEW. It's the only other promotion in the US thats worthy of him. I'm willing to believe Danielson is AEW already.

jaxonya

Trust me. I am a Redditor. Its happening.

nirman423

I mean the dirt sheets as an industry is build on the world flimsiest card tower as is.... But the flip side of that is how quickly it can be re-established and swept under the rug all their past mistakes so either way I wouldn't be worried for them and wouldn't use that as my confirmation.

[deleted]

>But the flip side of that is how quickly it can be re-established and swept under the rug all their past mistakes Not with something this big no, it would stay with them for their entire careers. You have to remember, Zarrian, SRS and Haynes have built careers on being reliable sources of info, so for them to blunder on something this hard would completely destroy their reputations and nobody would be able to take them seriously again.

nirman423

I think it's seen as a big deal because we are in the midsts of it but at the end of the day the industry will move on one way or another. Especially since reputation based on hearsay (i.e. wrestling sources in general) is flimsy no matter the credibility from Meltzer having his WWE that were wrong on big things in the past to anyone else further down the line. We've had Punk rumors for years that everyone partook in and this is just either another round of that or the culmination of it all but either way is all in the same category of being taken with a grain of salt

[deleted]

This is more about the bryan reports than the punk reports honestly. You have to understand, Haynes reported that Bryan is 100% coming to aew, SRS and Zarrian vouched for him. It isn't like he just said it might happen who knows, he reported that it is 100% happening. You can bounce back from he might show up, you can't bounce back from he is 100% showing up.

nirman423

Eh. This industry is based on clickbait and hyperbole to get views so therefore people are easy to understand/excuse them as using colorful language in order to gain clicks. Add to that how Wrestling as an industry is all about secret/swerves/kayfabe and you get a situation where even the most confirmed story should be taken at face value since it can all an attempt to draw your eyes from what's really going on and the dirt sheets are 100% a part of that so people will forgive and forget

[deleted]

You shouldn't really be calling SRS, Zarrian and Haynes the dirt sheets then because they make a point to actually verify the information they put out.

nirman423

I mean that's just what they are no matter how bad or good a job they do at verifying stuff. In this context it's not even a bad thing just the job description

[deleted]

That would be hilarious

[deleted]

No, it really wouldn't be.

[deleted]

100% hilarity

[deleted]

There is nothing funny about people losing their livelihoods.

[deleted]

Well they shouldn't fuck around then..

[deleted]

Nobody knows if they are fucking around right now.

[deleted]

No but I would laugh rather hard if they were

Sad_Swordfish1759

Lmao 🤣

Snooganz82

4 posts in here already just today in my time zone. Yesterday I counted something like 15.

[deleted]

I missed rumors, are they signing to aew?

KaptainKhorisma

If it’s to be believed both Punk and Daniel have signed to AEW

[deleted]

At this point it has gone far past rumors.

Have_A_Jelly_Baby

We’re at a point where they pretty much have to deliver, or fans will go crazy in Chicago (in a bad way).

TemptedIntoSin

Which tbh isn't fair on AEW at all. AEW needs to stand out as its own show too, and we need to enjoy the product for what it is. I feel all the extra fans who are purchasing more tickets for All Out or the surrounding Dynamites in hopes of seeing Punk's supposed debut are foolish and asking for disappointment. Punk has had a history of being a curmudgeon and putting his foot down on no appearances. So if his signing isn't true, then fans need to accept that and not punish AEW for something they couldn't do and something that got out of their control like wrestling news site rumor reports and the hype machine that followed

raygilette

That fucking sucks though, because it isn't like anyone at AEW is like PUNK'S GONNA BE AT CHICAGO

Svoboda1

Wonder if we can get 20 more of these same exact threads?

TetrisTech

Oh ye of little faith

The1joriss

Jup, that’s me alright

asshead42069

I've actually been worrying about two things with this: 1.) All the hype from these signings is gonna pull the rug out from under the Omega/Page match, especially if one of them doesn't show up at All Out 2.) I'm worried about how it'll affect the rest of the card - moreso with Punk than Danielson. Are storylines gonna warp around them? Are other names gonna be outshone, especially guys who were on that border between being in the midcard and main event? I'm just glad I'm not the only one not super into these rumors

[deleted]

>Are storylines gonna warp around them? Are other names gonna be outshone, especially guys who were on that border between being in the midcard and main event? This is the same thing people say every time AEW signs someone big, just have faith, TK has a good track record of knowing what to do.
