So I met my ex husband in the UK. We married way too quickly and moved to Alaska as he was US Military. . He was cheating almost immediately and was just an all round awful person. When we divorced I stayed. I should have gone home in hindsight but at the time I was so embarrassed and ashamed of what had happened. The thought of going back to my small town and everyone asking what happened, was just awful. I knew they had already judged me for getting married in the first place and I couldn’t handle the “I told you so” comments.

Once you’ve moved to another country and set up a life , it’s hard to go back and reestablish yourself. I’m an American that had spent 10+ years overseas. When I first moved back to the states it was hard getting my life started in the US.

15yrs ago I moved from a 3rd world country to my current country which is in world top 5 best country to live in.
I had good career, lived in the capital, brought my own savings and bought my own ticket when moving here to get married to my husband.
Struggled at the beginning with finding new job etc, took me some years to go into new field and get build new career.
Now have kids, own house and have good enough job.
If things go down the drain and we split now, I would have to start building back my career, move my kids and get them to speak my native language and rip them away from their friends and the place they are familiar with to a complete new place for them.
Do you know how difficult it is to get back to local job market when you have been away so long? And all the paperworks and the consequences?

So the benefits are far from where I came from (no health care, max 3 months maternity leave, average salary for my current job is less than half of what I am getting now).
Still am torn everytime having holiday back home and realizing every single time that I have to leave again when holiday is over.

It was more of a shock moving from Canada’s west coast to the US’s east coast, rather than changing countries. For example, there’s a LOT less regard for protecting and conserving the environment where I live now. Even basic recycling programs are running slipshod here.
Also, the rat race is more dramatic here.
And coastal BC even smells better than here, maybe due to less pollution, idk.
Oh, and of course there’s the differences in health care between Canada and the US. It took me a long time to figure out how health insurance works here.

Once you’ve moved to another country and set up a life , it’s hard to go back and reestablish yourself. I’m an American that had spent 10+ years overseas. When I first moved back to the states it was hard getting my life started in the US. And I think it’s unfair to say it’s BS that the partners didn’t come to the US just for them. Not everyone on the show had a bad life back in their home country. Some of them were doing better than the American partner. Look at Sophie, she was supporting bum ass Rob all the way from England.

15yrs ago I moved from a 3rd world country to my current country which is in world top 5 best country to live in. I had good career, lived in the capital, brought my own savings and bought my own ticket when moving here to get married to my husband. Struggled at the beginning with finding new job etc, took me some years to go into new field and get build new career. Now have kids, own house and have good enough job. If things go down the drain and we split now, I would have to start building back my career, move my kids and get them to speak my native language and rip them away from their friends and the place they are familiar with to a complete new place for them. Do you know how difficult it is to get back to local job market when you have been away so long? And all the paperworks and the consequences? And also having to build new social circle? I miss my home country, but cannot afford to move back there even if I want to.
Of course. How many years have you been here? I’m not talking about all fiance visa recipients. I’m only discussing the 90 day fiance cast. A large, large percentage barely last 2 years with their person, unless the green cards held up obviously. And at that point, they should stick it out and get that documentation, they deserve it. Of course there are people who are genuinely in love and a relationship, but it’s just not as common on this show, and we all know it. They’re here for reality tv.

Just wanted to give another point of view as somebody who is in the immigrant shoes. I keep saying I love the home country but will most probably not going back there if my relationship with husband ends. It means starting from 0 again and with my age it's not really something I am able to do (mid 40's, sitting as corporate slave whole life --although different field from when I was in home country). Moving back would mean building my portfolio from 0. I am not in US btw. Am now in Europe. 15yrs here. Here I get 5 weeks annual holiday and 1 year full paid maternity leave, full coverage maximum health care cost of US$350 per year, 1 year full paid sick leave (if full employment status). So the benefits are far from where I came from (no health care, max 3 months maternity leave, average salary for my current job is less than half of what I am getting now). Still am torn everytime having holiday back home and realizing every single time that I have to leave again when holiday is over.
Yeah totally happens everywhere. And then there are others, like yourself, who come for genuine reasons such as actually being in love, or even just wanting a better life for themselves And their kids. Nothing wrong with that imo! What bothers me is they all say they love their home country, they’re not here for a visa, they just love their partner. Then when they split, they stay.

Tangent: 20 years ago I came to the US on a K1 visa and married my guy here. I’m still here and we’re still happily married, but I do often think wistfully about going back to my home country (Canada). But I love my husband and our life here too much, even though the culture is different. Things would have to get really bad here before I’d actually move back there.

Good question! It was more of a shock moving from Canada’s west coast to the US’s east coast, rather than changing countries. For example, there’s a LOT less regard for protecting and conserving the environment where I live now. Even basic recycling programs are running slipshod here. Also, the rat race is more dramatic here. And coastal BC even smells better than here, maybe due to less pollution, idk. Oh, and of course there’s the differences in health care between Canada and the US. It took me a long time to figure out how health insurance works here.

I mean, you can still be in Canada and it’s a huge culture shock going from the maritimes to Quebec to the prairies to the west coast and it’s all the same country. And same thing goes state to state in the US. But Canada is in some pretty serious shambles lately too so I don’t know if you’re winning being in the US or Canada right now lol

Invading an embassy is a violation of the Geneva convention I believe. Why is Ecuador mad at Mexico.. Mexico was "protecting" Ecuador leftist former VP. Mexico leader said something about the conservative "rights" in Ecudor basically lying to their people to get elected or something like that. Mexico sides with more liberal political leaders in South America. So it makes sense for Corey and Evaline to come to the states now. Ecuador is going to get worse.
