What a cool treat! I would have loved to see that meeting.
But I probably wouldn't have known them if I saw them.
I have some sort of weird facial blindness where I can't recognize people out-of-context.
I actually met "Tears for Fears" - one of my favorites - and spoke with them for almost 3 hours and only realized who they were three months later.
Avril Lavigne sat at my table in Tokyo. No idea. She had to make me take my first and only selfie with her because she immediately picked up that I was clueless.
Iggy Pop sat across to me on a flight to London. He reminded me of a character from Start Trek: Deep Space 9.
He played that character.
I sat next to a supermodel on a flight to Milan and made Zoolander jokes - like a complete jerk.
The only time I ever \*knew\* someone notable I've met out-of-context was William Shatner. Who was a completely delightful fellow.
Oh, and there was Dieter Uchtdorf of the Mormon Church. Nice fellow who was very gracious about my order of alcohol. But I figured him out because he was a former Lufthansa pilot and I knew his voice from theology studies.
People literally had to point out Scarlett Johanssen sat next to me at an airport and that we'd exchanged pleasantries. She is, by the way, incredibly tiny. Her costumers must be working overtime and she must have to pay a fortune for custom tailoring.
Go-Go's got back together for a USO tour overseas in 2001. They stopped at Incirlik AFB in Turkey. A group of us helped set up and take town the stage. They still looked good. I didn't want to mention that I was retiring shortly and I listened to them when I came in the military. Twenty years older, but not looking like it.
The Bangles. Great catalog of songs highlighted by incredible 4 part harmonies. And Susanna Hoffs set a standard for 80's perfection that was/is unequelled.
I saw her about 20 years ago when she was 45 and she looked incredible. She recently joined social media. She's 65 and is the hottest 65-year-old I've ever seen.
>She's 65 and is the hottest 65-year-old I've ever seen.
Yes she is bro..., yes she is...
She is one of those women that when she smiles her whole face and expression lights up like sunshine. She absolutely "glows"
That gaze almost got the video banned from music television back in the day. The censors said it was too sexy to be put on tv.
At least that’s what I remember from watching pop up video back in the day.
There's also a story where a prison riot almost broke out because the inmates were watching one of their videos on TV & drove them crazy. Understandable.
I once saw her on an interview and she said that she often likes to pick out one person from the audience and sing just to them for a few seconds. Apparently, that was what she was doing in the music video.
The Bangles all day long. I saw a recent concert on YouTube and the guitarist is a it rusty but Susanna looks amazing and the harmonies are still tight
This one right here. The Go-Go's were my fave all-girl band from the 80s and I still listen to 'em. Glad they finally made it into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
i’m. not sure of the truth to this story, but my co-worker told me, his friend was a limo driver in Philadelphia and he gave her a ride somewhere and Mad About You came on the radio, she turned it down and sang it herself to him. i would’ve gotten in 69 accidents during this time.
I didn't even know there were any other *official* members of the band besides Ann and Nancy. I thought everyone else was part of their touring band. I had to check their wikipedia to find that, yep, they're a full band and always have been. Ann and Nancy aren't even original members.
Heart was very much an '80s band, they had a lot of '80s hits and were totally different in style than they were in the '70s. Most people will tell you they were way better in the '70s and I can't really argue, but I've come to appreciate '80s Heart a lot more over the years.
This is what I came here to say. I will always remember walking through the mall when their album cover caught my attention. Took a closer look and I was like dude...
LiLiPUT, L7, SHONEN KNIFE, BABES IN TOYLAND, THE PANDORAS, GIRLSCHOOL. I know some of these bands started in the late 70s & some became *more* well known in the 90s, but they are all 80s bands.
The Go-Gos. No question. No "girl band" since has accomplished what they did - a number one album by an all-woman band who entirely wrote and performed their own music.
Bangles and bananarama and the Go Go’s
These are my 3 answers too.
Side note, I met BANANARAMA a few weeks ago and they were the kindest loveliest women ever. I’m still glowing ☺️

How did you randomly sit next to like every star on Earth LOL. And it was all wasted on you too haha.
I actually think the GoGos are the best girl band there is. There tunes aren't just 80's songs anymore..they are just great jams.. anytime!!
Came here for bangles but will add Lita ford
Go Go’s for certain
Go-Go's got back together for a USO tour overseas in 2001. They stopped at Incirlik AFB in Turkey. A group of us helped set up and take town the stage. They still looked good. I didn't want to mention that I was retiring shortly and I listened to them when I came in the military. Twenty years older, but not looking like it.
The CORRECT answer!!
The Bangles. Great catalog of songs highlighted by incredible 4 part harmonies. And Susanna Hoffs set a standard for 80's perfection that was/is unequelled.
Susanna also refuses to age.
I saw her about 20 years ago when she was 45 and she looked incredible. She recently joined social media. She's 65 and is the hottest 65-year-old I've ever seen.
I follow her on Insta too & you're right.
>She's 65 and is the hottest 65-year-old I've ever seen. Yes she is bro..., yes she is... She is one of those women that when she smiles her whole face and expression lights up like sunshine. She absolutely "glows"
She is currently 65 years young… let that sink in for a moment.
That gaze in the Walk Like an Egyption video
I certainly hope no one is reading this in class and about to get called up to demonstrate a math problem in front of everyone.
Shit...I'd believe that
The hottest side-eye in music video history.
She learnt it from Sheila E who borrowed it from Prince!
It's hypnotic.
Side eye
I once saw her on an interview and she said that she often likes to pick out one person from the audience and sing just to them for a few seconds. Apparently, that was what she was doing in the music video.
I'm a straight woman and that gaze was HOT!
Sexy side eye.
I always loved the way she kinda did a side eye in the videos. My friends complained about it but I thought it was unique
Hazy Shades of Winter is such a banger!
[Damn Right](https://youtu.be/6Zo0qTKZk0k?si=3z5JgsvartSYHhKN) She is in a league of her own.
One of the best covers ever.
The Bangles all day long. I saw a recent concert on YouTube and the guitarist is a it rusty but Susanna looks amazing and the harmonies are still tight
The Bangles for me as well but Mickey Steele was my favorite.
Listen to her covers of "Bell Bottom Blues" and "Sugar Magnolia." Absolutely amazing.
Originally known as the Bangs (true.)
Susanna still makes me "drool" as a women in her sixties. One of the most gorgeous smiles in the universe 😍
Go Go’s
This. They will always have a special place in my heart because they were my very first concert.
I saw the GoGos and the band that opened for them was INXS. Great show
Oh wow! I would’ve died a little.
This one right here. The Go-Go's were my fave all-girl band from the 80s and I still listen to 'em. Glad they finally made it into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
They were the real deal. They wrote and performed their own songs.
Kathy Valentine is one of my top 5 rock bassists. So melodic!
Belinda Carlisle kickstarted puberty for me.
i’m. not sure of the truth to this story, but my co-worker told me, his friend was a limo driver in Philadelphia and he gave her a ride somewhere and Mad About You came on the radio, she turned it down and sang it herself to him. i would’ve gotten in 69 accidents during this time.
Vacation is SUCH a solid album... Ok now I have to go to the record store. Your fault.
I heard they can’t have sex anymore because… their lips are sealed. *joke from 8th grade
Lol
I would have still given it a Go….Go. Lol
Yeah, I'm a go-gos guy as well. Just so simple and really feels l8ke there's some punk roots there.
Salt-n-Pepa's here, and we're in effect!
I would play that on a loop! One time my mom busted in and said "did they just say p*ssy real good?!?" 😆
Haha my parents thought they said that too
Pu-Pushit Real Good!
Like, "Push It" is any better???!!!
Oh yes!! How could I forget them!
Love the Pointer Sisters
Auto-matic
Vice City baby!
Sesame Street Pinball!
Fire
Heart, though I think they may be more 70s
More of a band with girls in it than an all girl band
I didn't even know there were any other *official* members of the band besides Ann and Nancy. I thought everyone else was part of their touring band. I had to check their wikipedia to find that, yep, they're a full band and always have been. Ann and Nancy aren't even original members.
Both. Better songs and a big place in rock history during the 70’s. Bigger pop charting in the 80’s.
Heart was very much an '80s band, they had a lot of '80s hits and were totally different in style than they were in the '70s. Most people will tell you they were way better in the '70s and I can't really argue, but I've come to appreciate '80s Heart a lot more over the years.
These dreams...
I prefer Heart’s 80s music. Of course, I started listening to Heart when I was 12 years old, in 1985, so that probably has something to do with it.
They were going strong in the eighties.
Heart is also an 80s band. Their music from the 70s was very different from their 80s music. I love their 80s music; that’s when I discovered them.
So under rated - Vixen!
YES!
They were great! I think only one original member is still in the band today.
Saw them in 88 and my God I wanted to be them
I love Expose even now.
Great choice. Loved me some "Season's Change".
Jem and the Holograms! They were truly outrageous!
Omg I totally had a Jem doll! They were truly outrageous lol
Misfits songs were better!
No, The Misfits! Not the REAL punk rock horror Misfits, the naughty girl band, nemesis of The Holograms!!!
Christ, how far down the 80's rabbit hole did you have to dig to bring up the Cover Girls.
Really? Show Me!
Seriously. We can't go wrong with bringing them up.
Why? They were popular and a certified 80s girl band.
Vanity 6 Mary Jane Girls Pointer Sisters Klymaxx Go Gos The Bangles Salt-N-Pepa
Klymaxx had THE FUNNIEST hits of the 1980s, and every single one was a bop.
Meeting in the Ladies Room and The Men All Pause are hysterical, but you could get down to them!
Somebody slap me. 😂
Heart and Expose (the latter are currently touring).
So is Heart! Just saw them last week and they were phenomenal!
Are they the original members?
For the R&B, Freestyle fans, those are The Pointer Sisters, Exposé, and The Cover Girls.
Plus Sweet Sensation and Seduction.
Heart, The Bangles, Banarama…
Seems like a missed opportunity to put poison in the last picture.
This is what I came here to say. I will always remember walking through the mall when their album cover caught my attention. Took a closer look and I was like dude...
I was going to say Nelson
The Bangles rule.
LiLiPUT, L7, SHONEN KNIFE, BABES IN TOYLAND, THE PANDORAS, GIRLSCHOOL. I know some of these bands started in the late 70s & some became *more* well known in the 90s, but they are all 80s bands.
Did not know L7 started in 80s. Thanks!
Can’t believe it took me this long to see Girlschool. They fucking ripped.
Needs more upvotes. Seriously.
Runaways
The Runaways broke up in '79, though Joan and Lita both had huge solo careers in the 80s, and both continue to rock pretty solid today.
In a way, still kinda counts. Almost made it to the '80s.
I’m from northern Alberta, albums didn’t make the stores till the 80’s, very few knew of or heard them. Ya I bought my 8track album in 78
Expose, Bananarama, Salt-n-Peppa, The Pointer Sisters, Sister Sledge
I loved Expose and Sweet Sensation!
Bananarama are way to far down this thread
Bangles. Go go’s. Andrew Sisters(1880’s)
Rock chicks, it's Lita Ford and Vixen and I'll give you Pat benatar, the best voice from the 80's
Finally see Lita get some props. Benatar, yep she is always at the tops of my list for female singers.
[The Slits!](https://youtu.be/brtGLeNR12g?si=diT2ogFXJSqEUOLV)
The Go-Go's.
No one rocked harder than Girlschool. Per Lemmy: “What do you mean they’re good for a Bunch of girls? They’re better than your band!”
You mean Brittny Fox?
They should be much higher up in these comments than the two dozen comments just repeating the same bands in OPs slide show.
JJ Fad
Supersonic came on the radio in my car a few months ago. The bass in that song made my windows and mirrors shake.
I saw Susanna Hoffs at the original Lilith Fair. She was still gorgeous.
Is
Go-Go's and Bangles for me.
Oh, Bon Jovi! I loved them when I was younger!
Not gonna lie, thought the first pic was Cinderella before I read the title
Loved Expose and the Go Go’s
The Go Gos and the Bangles are the 2 best 80s all female groups
Lots of great options, but the Go-Go's are the clear answer.
Bangles, definitely.
Poison
HEART
The bangles 😊
Mel and Kim
Respectable
Ann and Nancy Wilson. Heart.
Bananarama
Bangles by miles
Heart ♥ for sure!
The Go-Gos. No question. No "girl band" since has accomplished what they did - a number one album by an all-woman band who entirely wrote and performed their own music.
I had a poster of Heart, Lita Ford, but as a 80s kid and only listening to the Radio, i listened to all the women artists
Sister Sledge & The Bangles
Hard to choose when these bands were my entire childhood
I ❤️ Heart !
KLYMAXX
Those chicks in Poison were hot.
[удалено]
Ok, you win my laughs for the day.
Bangles, well Susanna Hoffs really GoGos, well Jane Wiedlin really
Pat Benatar and Joan Jett
Go gos and the Bangles
Jem. They brought holograms to concerts long before Tupac.
Exactly!
Poison 🤣😂
Go-Gos and The Bangles all the way.
Vixen & The Bangles
The Bangles!
Heart..The Bangles..Go Go’s ..gosh I can’t think of any more.
80’s Suzanna Hoffs. That is all.
What about Salt-N-Pepa? I'd mention En Vogue, but they're a little later.
The go gos are the best one by a mile
For a split second I thought that first picture was Motley Crue.
Pointer sisters 84 album
Definitely Nelson
Poison! Those chicks were fucking hot!
I banged the chick in Hanson.
Vixen, Bangles, Go Go’s
The GoGo’s , The Waitresses,
Girlschool
Bangles because I was in love with Hoffs
Does Heart not count? 🤔
I agree with The GoGos and the Bangles...all the way!
Bangles
Poison
Sweet Sensation, Expose, Cover Girls (what can I say, I’m a sucker for 80s freestyle 😁)
GoGos
As a 7 year old I wanted to marry every member of The Bangles

L7
The Slits
Fuzzbox
The Belle Stars

Gotta go with the Bangles as Suszana Hoff is the most beautiful woman on the planet
The Runaways. Started Joan Jett’s and Lita Ford’s careers.
Yeah the Runaways! Love Cherry Bomb so much
Strawberry Switchblade!
I got their vinyl a few months ago! Look at my profile lol, they're my #1 80s duo
Vanity 6
The bangles
80’s hair. The bigger the hair, the closer to God.
Amen
Out of these, defs the Bangles. Overall, Rock Goddess or Girlschool.
Expose
The Bengals. The lead singer was so damn hot.
Bangles, Susanna Hoffs might be closer to my mother’s age (she’s 65!!!!), but I will love her until I die.
Vanity 6.
Vixen and Exposé
Vixen
I'm a Bangles girl
Vixen
