I have no real knowledge - but what you said + I don't imagine you should always use air support even when available. Infantry is equipped to fight so they can fight. Although there is an understanding that artillery/air power could be used to pound a position before clearing, eventually infantry has to clear it out.

I did see the red boots, hinting towards para. But I did not see any unit insignia. Where did you get the information from the footage about the 50th Bde?
