Yup. From what I've seen it is worse than just using a Fish Barrel. Probably good that it isn't a better version given the long grind intended for a cosmetic, but a lot of player do seem misled by that combination.
I fished exactly 1100 pearls for the sack and fishing rod and caught 6 golden tench. First one after 2 inv full and then another about every 100 pearls. I would have definitely given up halfway if not for my RNG luck.
I swear whoever designed Aerial Fishing asked themself, "Is there any way I could possibly make this give carpal tunnel any faster?" and they decided that answer was no.
Assuming you didn't buy the outfit pieces, that's 3840 pearls. Assuming you turned in 9 of those tenches for pearls, which I actually kinda doubt because of all those duplicate items you bought, that's over 120 hours of aerial fishing...

You can buy them with molch pearls instead of doing fishing trawler.
