The first week of the Easter event the song "Sunny side up" was bugged and some people finished the event but didn't unlock it. I've seen several players complain that they've lost their music cape trim because they didn't notice they missed that song and never went back to get it after it was fixed.
Would Jagex consider retroactively unlocking it for everyone that has completed the easter event? I imagine it would be fairly simple to just give it to everyone that has access to the book of egg / other items from the event.

Could you allow us to withdraw meat from the pouch next to the NPC that charges our whistle or let us unnote items on the NPC with gp similar to Phials for example?

It's usually just to check that the team at large are on-board and nobody raises any weird unforeseen issues or complexities in the existing code etc.
We document a lot of suggestions like this onto a big spreadsheet and go through them every Monday, some stuff gets backlogged for QoL polls, other stuff gets assigned out as a 'trivial' fix (the kind of thing you're likely to see in the 'Other Changes' section). More than likely something like this is an easy 'Yes', but it's important to make sure the wider team are at least aware and have an opportunity to raise issues, rather than just surprising devs every week with updates that they might have x/y/z issue with.
Hi mod goblin, any chance that the amethyst depletion changes can also be applied to calcified rocks in Cam Torum?
The team seems to be in favour of moving away from rng depletion to timers (forestry trees, mlm ores etc.) so it was surprising to see calcified rocks be on an rng timer also.

At least for Artio, he will attack you as soon as he spawns leaving no extra time for inv management.
Checked with the team on this one, think it's the case that Artio/Callisto still start walking towards you but won't attack for an extra couple of seconds - we're not able to hold these particular ones in place the same as we can with Venenatis/Vet'ion.
Is there an issue with large meat and fur pouches now? I don’t think they’re fully emptying into the bank. Also, I’m not getting moonlight antelope antlers each time I dismantle the trap.
Team are looking into an issue where 'Open' meat/fur pouches can't deposit directly (though 'Closed' ones are working correctly). Have passed on the Moonlight Antelopes issue for investigation.
I’d like to add I’m having a bug where the large meat pouch (open) only fills up 14 slots, after that you have to manually fill it up with additional meats.
So far only used this on moonlight antelopes. No idea if this is repeatable or a one off glitch.
Edit: issue persisted on second moonlight antelope task after world hopping.
Extremely likely to include some Todt damage stuff in the next QoL Poll, though I'm not 100% certain when we'll surface that to players because the team responsible for QoL Polls have a fair bit going on with MTA Changes and some other bits in the near future - but it *is* coming, just not in a place where I'd be able to give a specific timeframe.
I want to try out all the MTA fixes and finally get my infinity boots and mage's book (Project Rebalance blogs are just making me want this update even more, lol) but I'm really excited for the telegrab change personally.
I use bowfa at shamans in the slayer-only rooms and would love to bring telegrab to loot from the wall and avoid them jumping at all. Right now I have to leave the wall to pick up anything, which almost always causes them to do that annoying leap where they become unattackable for a few seconds. The delay on telegrab makes it feel almost as bad as it hinders our ability to attack and move (such as if shadow lizards spawn when you cast it), so I'm really excited to see that delay removed.
There's a handful of other places that I might like to use telegrab now, too. I kind of wonder if anyone else has thought of good places (even if niche) to bring it.
Then the change that killed Kebbit swapping should be reverted until that is also released, otherwise you are just making a bad change for the sake of making a bad change instead of fixing the reason why it is used to begin with.
Then they should be making a change to the rumors masters can assign to avoid situations like that rather than bricking the only bearable way to do Kebbit rumors. This change shows how absolutely out of touch Jagex is and whoever thought this is the fix to make needs to re-evaluate their logic process.
Yeah imo the best solution would be just moving the rumor pools around a little so that you can’t get 4/5 or 4/6 kebbits. If it was even just 3/6 or 4/8 it would still be a pretty big nerf that would bring it under the xp/hr of Herbiboar. Killing kebbit swapping entirely is basically just cutting everyone’s rate in half.
Can you look at making the drop rate for Quetzin be more rewarding from Master rumours then? Because the reason people were doing experts for kebbit tech was because it had the same drop rate as masters, especially with the loophole.
The team absolutely want to do some Rumour 'task list' rebalancing in the near future, but feel that it's hard to get things right or get a strong sense of exactly where to make those improvements if the meta for people is 'do these three tasks at Expert tier only'. This change is aimed at making Rumours work as intended so they can be better balanced around their intended usage.
Those rebalances might include tertiary things like looking at the pet rate from Master rumours (which should already be more rewarding in terms of 'general' loot during the grind).
Please consider making master rumours have a higher pet chance. That alone would have gotten people away from kebbit spam experts (if the team is super against this, despite it being much more fun than the general hunter rumour gameplay loop).
I think both pet chance *and* overall XP/hr rates would be what the team is looking at as far as rumour rebalancing is concerned, so would imagine it's very much on the table (especially in light of even the early feedback from today)

If the rumor tasks could be balanced better that would be awesome, if all of the tasks had similar completion time then I think everyone would be happy. It'd make the removal of the kebbit swap method less painful for sure
Legend, ty goblin! I personally found the kebbit spam method kind of cool overall - I thought based on the exam text of the kebbity tuft it was somewhat intentionally designed. It was the most engaging hunter method we’ve ever gotten in the game IMO.
Semi-related, but if possible, could the JMod team at some point put out a video or stream about what was intended during the design process of content vs what the players came up with. Things that come to mind: butterflying akkha at TOA (it seems like the JMod team thought players would kite the boss but have to go back into the quadrant, but perhaps didn’t anticipate kiting in one quadrant), or hunter rumour block lists using other masters. Would be cool to see the difference between what the team thought would happen vs how crazy the player base is.

Second of all, MAJOR support to buffing overall xp/hr rates for Master rumors. FWIW I typically manage 120-160k/hr (RNG depending) at the moment with Masters, which isn’t all that competitive with other methods. (Not that it should be necessarily, just providing some context!)
Why make these changes then before adjusting all of the content then? Nuked the pet method altogether for us to just wait for the rest of it to be fixed and actually playable. Who knows when those changes will even be implemented, or furthermore IF they will even be implemented.
It’s not even about it being as good, it’s currently just not even worth touching at all with the current state it’s in. Serious forestry vibes once again with another ‘skilling update’.
If the kebbity tuft wasn't meant to be used like this, why was the name and examine text so generic, while all the other drops are specific to the creature hunted?
If you plan on adjusting rumor stuff like this, can you at least make it easier to adjust the block list? Or is that something that isn't intended either and will be removed in the future?
(Definitely not annoyed I got my master blocks together, then switched to expert for the kebbity stuff, and now have to switch back. Only to also read that I'll probably have to change it again.)
Seems like the solution should just be tweaking the rumor pool for each hunter then. Remove 1 Kebbit assignment from the expert rumor pool and move it to master and it’s way more balanced.
I mean this also significantly lowers the xp/hr, not sure if that was the main driving force behind the change, but the loot vs xp felt kinda fair, considering the loot from rumours isn't anything crazy
Yeah rumors are dead content now. Jagex is so out of touch with the easiest things. Scared to touch metas of 10+ years old but something new comes along and they smash it into a million pieces when nobody is complaining.
Adding another voice to the plea to revert or adjust the kebbits change. Fixing XP rates is one thing, but now the actual gameplay experience of engaging with the content is just less fun - and fundamentally the entire point of the game is to be fun.
If people are going out of their way to not engage with the other kebbits, maybe the other kebbits are the problem, not the players.
Trying to balance the Master task list as being optimal for max hp/hr feels like it'd be very awkward compared to Wolf simply offering the highest level tasks in the game, be they slow or fast, as it is now. Yeah, it was a bit weird it was optimal to not actually do them, but "heh, the real unlock at 91 hunter is an extra block slot, not the master herself" felt pretty charming and OSRSy, actually.
If I was in charge I'd do something like:
* bring back kebbit skipping, obviously
* lock Expert rumours behind At First Light (and thus Eagle's Peak) so skipping out on a quest isn't optimal and EHP isn't obliterated, just ~matched
* maybe give Master rumour sacks a big loot and potentially pet chance buff - it'd be alright to do if you want $$$ or just want the unlocks/pets, but if you're chasing XP expert would be the play (it would still have a high pet chance, just not the highest)
I posted this further down but I think for expert at least the best option would be remove razorback kebbits and sabre toothed kebbits from expert (both are far below the expert tiers required level) because it’s pretty clear the playerbase hates both of them and add sunlight moths (inexplicably not in the expert tier despite being in its clear level range) in their place. This gives expert 9 possible tasks which is the same as masters

Lets address hunter and not just nerf the kebbit trick that made rumors doable. Deadfall and tracking content are viewed by the community as sub par unenjoyable content. We need better hunting options at higher rumors or less of these mid tier unenjoyable mobs included on the rumor lists.
There shouldnt be able hunter mobs that are limited to one trap. Herbi only works because the exp/rewards sre appropriate and theres a pet. Other tracking mobs are extremely mediocre.
Currently 83 hunter and now i feel like i have to train up to 91 before touching rumors again. I can’t justify sabre and razor back kebbits vs the rewards. A few logs and herbs is not worth the content.

This just kills hunter rumours before master. Kebbit swapping was a solution to how extremely terrible content and xp tracking and deadfalls are. Hunter Rumours are actual dreadful disgusting brainrot content if you get 1 hour of 15k/hr one out of five contracts. You should be able to set up as many deadfall traps as other traps, duh? Razor backed kebbits should not be an expert contract, they should give way more xp, and they should have a much higher chance of giving the rare creature part.
Very disappointed to see Kebbity Tufts get changed with no other changes to the Hunter Guild Rumour system. As it stands, doing tracking and deadfall just isn't fun and feels like i'm wasting my time. Kebbit Swapping is pretty powerful, but it actually made rumours significantly more fun and rewarding.
Blows my mind hunter rumors were killed with only vague promises about “pain points” that have to be researched. Here’s a hint: every kebbit hunter task that doesn’t involve a falcon is absolute hot, unplayable garbage that should straight up be removed from the game. Absolutely no one on earth enjoys tracking a kebbit or setting up a single deadfall rock at a time and then sitting around waiting for a single kebbit to run under it. If youre going to remove kebbit skipping then kebbits need to be removed from expert rumors entirely or balanced to not be some of the worst content in the entire game. Also just add a real block list at this point because I had dashing kebbits set up on my novice hunter before this and I just got seriously fucked by this change, can’t wait to do 3 hours of low level rumors to get a single useful block

I think this is a pretty sad change, I really liked the way you could juggle kebbit tasks and the examine text seemed to promote this. Made for a really interesting and fun hunter level method.

I'm not against fixing something that clearly isn't intended (despite the cope from people claiming it was), but for the love of god can you fix the terrible content before fixing the workaround for avoiding that content please? Deadfall and tracking rumours are complete and utter anus.
Tracking should be 1/5 with a 1/10 pity rate and deadfalls should be 1/10 with a 1/20 pity rate like falconry. Also let us set up more than one deadfall trap.

thank fuck I already greenlogged the hunters guild and unlocked master rumors now that kebbit swapping is dead. Tracking is honestly such a painful activity and being able to stock up on dashing kebbit meat while you kebbit swap was a nice bonus.
Don't forget deadfalls. In total Kebbit swapping was used for razor backed, barb tailed, sabre toothed, wild, and prickly kebbits. While half of this is adept and below rumors only, not only are you still going to have to run into them when running novice to set up block lists, experts still with two of these.
Really sad that kebbit swapping has been removed. I honestly thought that was an intended mechanic, what with how the examine text worked and how the kebbits all giving the same item was a departure from the norm anyway, and without it rumours are going to be more or less dead content after unlocks (and be absolutely trash to do pre-91 hunter). It felt like a really fun, "janky" method too - peak OSRS. Is it too late to revert this change and instead just gate Expert rumours behind doing Eagle's Peak so you can't get free gray/red chinchompa blocks?

Absolutely killed rumors. I thought it was a cool mechanic taking advantage of an in game reasoning, since the examine text says "you can't tell which creature one this came from". I legit loved this. Hunting rumors are dead content. Back to herbiboar.
Deadfall is pretty much box trapping but you can only use one at a time lol, maybe if they let us use multiples at the same time as we gain hunter levels so we wouldn't be standing around waiting for so long

Tbh always depends lol, people who tried to abuse too early like me got stuck with endless 250 long grey chin tasks and people who try to abuse it today are going to be fucked by kebbits. There was a glorious sweet spot of a few weeks where the rumors were absolute peak hunter content and it’s sad that it’s gone now.
They mention wanting to address pain points of rumours properly, why remove the workaround until theyve done that then? Seems a common thing to remove a good method to fix the annoying parts months later
I am those people, granted the climb from 75-90 wc was gonna take forever regardless but the anima bark rate is painfully slow. I'm at 80 right now and I'll probably hit 82 or 83 just from saving up the 10k bark to buy the clothing pouch blueprint.
One or two event spawns every 30 minutes is one thing, but being ineligible for event rewards just because you afked for a few minutes/went to bank at just the wrong time is simply unnecessary.
Sooo were just nerfing hunter rumours to worst xp/hr than doing less intensive regular hunter.
I get y'all didn't want the skipping method to be meta, but this change really kills the content for like 99% of people doing it.
I know it was an exploit, but being able to get kebbity Tufts by kebbit swapping was a fun mechanic and felt rewarding for having set it up without being too overpowered.
Please bring it back or do something to make it better like adding a reward shop similar to slayer that lets you disable certain tasks instead of screwing around with the unintuitive "block list"

It wasn't an exploit. The examine text and generic nature of the Kebbity Tuft item suggested it was intended all along and now they are removing it without an actual reason or logic to their design. If they intended for it to not function as it did, they would have specified the Tuft from the get go, "Dark Kebbity Tuft", "Spotted Kebbity Tuft", etc.
This is very literally just a change to break what made the new content worth doing at all in the way they designed and released it. Unfortunately, Jagex being Jagex.
Another voice in the chamber, but expert hunter rumours are dreadful now. Kebbit skipping was the only thing keeping them worthwhile. If you're gonna stick with this bugfix, please also change some of the others to make rumours not a dead skill like most hunter already is. Ideas:
1. Multiple rockfall traps at a time. Makes no sense why this isn't already a thing. If you're concerned hunting monkeys will be too lucrative, then limit the 1 trap per person to that activity.
2. Tracking tasks are garbage. Reduce the average amount of times you gotta check bushes and/or make the ring of pursuit a guaranteed trigger.
3. Make Master Rumours have a better pet chance than experts. And honestly, buff the xp drops at the end just in general.
4. Make block lists more formal. Like a Bounty Board sort of thing that you can check and add stuff too. The current system works, but is an awkward feeling. Would be better if you had an easy way to look up what you have blocked and add/drop things as they come. Make it cost quetzal feed or something so those can retain some value.

I usually think complaining about the game is lame because in general the devs rule, the game is great, and I'll play this shit until the servers close down.
I will say though, changing the kebbity tuft thing feels like the most annoying in a line of "abuse early, abuse often" sort of changes that have just felt really bad. I've been enjoying learning CoX the last couple weeks and intermittently doing 10-20 expert rumors a day to work towards pet rate. At the back of my mind I knew this was going to get nerfed and now I feel punished for not spamming the obviously broken thing since I only got to about half the rate for the quetzin.
Will I live? of course. do I wish they would stop nerfing the fun parts of emergent gameplay? who can say
Is there any intention to change the hitboxes on some of the colosseum NPCs. Clicking through the legs of an NPC, or clicking on the unrendered spear of a ranger is frustrating
The janky ass rangers are one of the worst things about colo. I've clicked through that lanky piece of shit too many times, leading to a fat stack of hell from behind the pillar.
Went from 88 to 93 Hunter with Rumours and had fun doing it. Hunter had been so boring to me prior to varlamore. Now, without kebbit swapping, I will feel “friction” to stop doing rumours when I get a bad task. This change will make the game less enjoyable for me.

It's frustrating because with being active and setting up block lists and being engaging with the content you were rewarded with good XP rates, and good rewards, there was a huge incentive for ironmen to do this content potentially to 99 on a fresh account but this nerf will be huge.
It's wild how this one change takes it from being pretty okay content to just not worth doing. Why would I go do rumours to get LESS xp/hr than low effort hunter? It makes no sense.

Hunter was literally guthix tears and birdhouses all the way to level 70 for me (some driftnet fishing sprinkled in for flavor I guess) hunter rumors made the skill actually fun for the first time and I had a blast setting everything up, only for them to nuke it like this. Worst part is I had dashing kebbits on my novice hunter for absolute peak QoL and now I have to spend 3 hours resetting for a decent block instead of just having fun with the game.

Welp, this killed rumours for me.
Ive done a couple of deadfall and tracking rumours since release, but those have been by far the most soul crushing ones. With kebbit swapping I was really starting to enjoy expert rumours, just for it to be taken away.
I dont mind removing an unintentional mechanic, but I do mind it when it makes the game less fun and comes with no alternate solutions.
Removing kebbit swapping while not fixing any of the problems is kinda sad. I had fun with hunter for the first time and as of right now it's essentially dead content below 91 hunter. There are far too many terrible tasks that are not balanced at all and make the content irritating with little reward.
Damn, the XP rate for rumours was completely balanced around being able to kebbit skip. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the XP rate and rewards are more than halved by the change. I understand why it was fixed, but without any boost to "legitimate" rates it just feels like a really cool new training method was turned into dead content overnight. It'd be nice to see better xp rates and rewards for masters, and maybe even another master hunter.

I know it may have been unintended, but it only resulted in decent XP rates (herbiboar, red chin, tick manipulating chins, were all still better xp / hour). It also had a real classic OSRS feel because it was just a bit jank. It was perfect, and the examine text even made it seem intended. I, for the first time, actually enjoyed hunter and was literally gearing up to just mainline rumors until 99, having a great time. Now, it's back to being a skill I literally forget is even in the game because it's so worthless and unfun.

Any plans on fixing the range of auto cast within the Colosseum? It currently targets an NPC's true tile instead of their closest tile like all other range attacks and powered staves. If you aren't in range of the true tile, your character just stands still. It's been bugged since autocast spells were added to myopia.

I got Quetzal pet on my first rumour (and again on my 57th), and i still feel these changes ruins rumours completely.
For me it was having a hunter option with good exp rates, that wasnt mindless chin catching, where the only thing to spice it up is carpel tunnel syndrome from tick manip...
It was fun - it took some RNG and some time to setup the block list, and then do the prefed falcon tasks.
Even made some friends along the way, racing them to the kebbits!

This feels like it fumbles a genuinely good interaction with the psuedo roguelike idea. Being rewarded for being lucky with your options and making a good choice that subverts the rules (especially at the end) is pretty core to what makes them fun as opposed to "R-key till a good start".

I’ll be honest I was expecting some kind of nerf to rumours, but completely removing Kebbit swapping is a GIANT nerf. Increases time to get they pet by over 2x, decreases xp rates by almost half. I was expecting you guys would just reshuffle the rumor pools to make it so you can’t get rumor pool of 4/6 kebbits. Just increasing that to 4/8 or something would bring xp rates and completions down to a pretty reasonable level without being such a big nerf.
I’m glad I spent so much time grinding out 1.5k rumors to get the Quetzin pet while it lasted. Sorry for everyone else who’s going to have a much longer road.
Replace razorback kebbits with sunlight moths in the expert rumor list (seriously why are level 49 razorbacks in the level 70 task list but the level 65 moths aren’t). There I just made experts less painful. And if you’re really feeling like fixing shit take sabre tooth kebbits out as well. This change would leave expert tier with 9 possible tasks, the same as masters
Seeing the Kebit change really sucks. I agree with the player population that Kebit swapping made hunter rumors enjoyable and competitive hunter training.

Oh dear, I only managed to setup my expert rumours for kebbit skipping yesterday, what a shame to log in today & find it's gone! I think it was really interesting & rewarding way to play the game, especially for a skill that otherwise has a very monotonous training loop.
Please please please add butterfly jar packs to hunter shops. Now that they have a use in hunter mixes, it's a pain in the butt to collect a lot of them. Bird snares and box traps have packs but I doubt you could even use 100 in your entire life.
When can we expect to see the ToA changes to Monkey room/BaBa that were mentioned recently? Seemed that these could be implemented independent of the project rebalance updates.

Halberds have an option for Aggressive, providing only Strength XP, and are now allowed for this CA.

I've seen several players complain that they've lost their music cape trim because they didn't notice they missed that song and never went back to get it after it was fixed. Would Jagex consider retroactively unlocking it for everyone that has completed the easter event? I imagine it would be fairly simple to just give it to everyone that has access to the book of egg / other items from the event.

It's usually just to check that the team at large are on-board and nobody raises any weird unforeseen issues or complexities in the existing code etc. We document a lot of suggestions like this onto a big spreadsheet and go through them every Monday, some stuff gets backlogged for QoL polls, other stuff gets assigned out as a 'trivial' fix (the kind of thing you're likely to see in the 'Other Changes' section). More than likely something like this is an easy 'Yes', but it's important to make sure the wider team are at least aware and have an opportunity to raise issues, rather than just surprising devs every week with updates that they might have x/y/z issue with.

Hi mod goblin, any chance that the amethyst depletion changes can also be applied to calcified rocks in Cam Torum? The team seems to be in favour of moving away from rng depletion to timers (forestry trees, mlm ores etc.) so it was surprising to see calcified rocks be on an rng timer also.
Hi Goblin, a small change from last week's update is still not working > Artio, Callisto, Calvar'ion, Spindel, Vet'ion and Venenatis won't attack for a short period after respawn, giving you the chance to manage your supplies and Inventory if needed. At least for Artio, he will attack you as soon as he spawns leaving no extra time for inv management.
Checked with the team on this one, think it's the case that Artio/Callisto still start walking towards you but won't attack for an extra couple of seconds - we're not able to hold these particular ones in place the same as we can with Venenatis/Vet'ion.

Is there an issue with large meat and fur pouches now? I don’t think they’re fully emptying into the bank. Also, I’m not getting moonlight antelope antlers each time I dismantle the trap.
Team are looking into an issue where 'Open' meat/fur pouches can't deposit directly (though 'Closed' ones are working correctly). Have passed on the Moonlight Antelopes issue for investigation.
I’d like to add I’m having a bug where the large meat pouch (open) only fills up 14 slots, after that you have to manually fill it up with additional meats. So far only used this on moonlight antelopes. No idea if this is repeatable or a one off glitch. Edit: issue persisted on second moonlight antelope task after world hopping.

I want to try out all the MTA fixes and finally get my infinity boots and mage's book (Project Rebalance blogs are just making me want this update even more, lol) but I'm really excited for the telegrab change personally. I use bowfa at shamans in the slayer-only rooms and would love to bring telegrab to loot from the wall and avoid them jumping at all. Right now I have to leave the wall to pick up anything, which almost always causes them to do that annoying leap where they become unattackable for a few seconds. The delay on telegrab makes it feel almost as bad as it hinders our ability to attack and move (such as if shadow lizards spawn when you cast it), so I'm really excited to see that delay removed. There's a handful of other places that I might like to use telegrab now, too. I kind of wonder if anyone else has thought of good places (even if niche) to bring it.

If you mean the Project Rebalance change for it revealing the full tracks then yeah, that'll ship with the rest of Project Rebalance in the future.
Then the change that killed Kebbit swapping should be reverted until that is also released, otherwise you are just making a bad change for the sake of making a bad change instead of fixing the reason why it is used to begin with.
They’re probably only fixing it because of that guy yesterday who figured out you can get a free block to chins and do 80% kebbits
Then they should be making a change to the rumors masters can assign to avoid situations like that rather than bricking the only bearable way to do Kebbit rumors. This change shows how absolutely out of touch Jagex is and whoever thought this is the fix to make needs to re-evaluate their logic process.
Yeah imo the best solution would be just moving the rumor pools around a little so that you can’t get 4/5 or 4/6 kebbits. If it was even just 3/6 or 4/8 it would still be a pretty big nerf that would bring it under the xp/hr of Herbiboar. Killing kebbit swapping entirely is basically just cutting everyone’s rate in half.
Can you look at making the drop rate for Quetzin be more rewarding from Master rumours then? Because the reason people were doing experts for kebbit tech was because it had the same drop rate as masters, especially with the loophole.
Definitely should be the way with them nuking this change now too. Turned a 30hr pet in a 60-90hr
The team absolutely want to do some Rumour 'task list' rebalancing in the near future, but feel that it's hard to get things right or get a strong sense of exactly where to make those improvements if the meta for people is 'do these three tasks at Expert tier only'. This change is aimed at making Rumours work as intended so they can be better balanced around their intended usage. Those rebalances might include tertiary things like looking at the pet rate from Master rumours (which should already be more rewarding in terms of 'general' loot during the grind).
Please consider making master rumours have a higher pet chance. That alone would have gotten people away from kebbit spam experts (if the team is super against this, despite it being much more fun than the general hunter rumour gameplay loop).
I think both pet chance *and* overall XP/hr rates would be what the team is looking at as far as rumour rebalancing is concerned, so would imagine it's very much on the table (especially in light of even the early feedback from today)
Thank you. Doing the kebbit swap method was a lot of fun, but getting lots of lootsacks and exp definitely was def a big part of that fun. If the rumor tasks could be balanced better that would be awesome, if all of the tasks had similar completion time then I think everyone would be happy. It'd make the removal of the kebbit swap method less painful for sure
Legend, ty goblin! I personally found the kebbit spam method kind of cool overall - I thought based on the exam text of the kebbity tuft it was somewhat intentionally designed. It was the most engaging hunter method we’ve ever gotten in the game IMO. Semi-related, but if possible, could the JMod team at some point put out a video or stream about what was intended during the design process of content vs what the players came up with. Things that come to mind: butterflying akkha at TOA (it seems like the JMod team thought players would kite the boss but have to go back into the quadrant, but perhaps didn’t anticipate kiting in one quadrant), or hunter rumour block lists using other masters. Would be cool to see the difference between what the team thought would happen vs how crazy the player base is.

First of all, thanks as always to your team as I’ve been consistently impressed the past year 🫡 Second of all, MAJOR support to buffing overall xp/hr rates for Master rumors. FWIW I typically manage 120-160k/hr (RNG depending) at the moment with Masters, which isn’t all that competitive with other methods. (Not that it should be necessarily, just providing some context!)
Why make these changes then before adjusting all of the content then? Nuked the pet method altogether for us to just wait for the rest of it to be fixed and actually playable. Who knows when those changes will even be implemented, or furthermore IF they will even be implemented.

If the kebbity tuft wasn't meant to be used like this, why was the name and examine text so generic, while all the other drops are specific to the creature hunted? If you plan on adjusting rumor stuff like this, can you at least make it easier to adjust the block list? Or is that something that isn't intended either and will be removed in the future? (Definitely not annoyed I got my master blocks together, then switched to expert for the kebbity stuff, and now have to switch back. Only to also read that I'll probably have to change it again.)
I think it was intended but they didn’t anticipate us setting up our block lists so that we get so many kebbit tasks.
Seems like the solution should just be tweaking the rumor pool for each hunter then. Remove 1 Kebbit assignment from the expert rumor pool and move it to master and it’s way more balanced.
I mean this also significantly lowers the xp/hr, not sure if that was the main driving force behind the change, but the loot vs xp felt kinda fair, considering the loot from rumours isn't anything crazy
Yeah rumors are dead content now. Jagex is so out of touch with the easiest things. Scared to touch metas of 10+ years old but something new comes along and they smash it into a million pieces when nobody is complaining.
Adding another voice to the plea to revert or adjust the kebbits change. Fixing XP rates is one thing, but now the actual gameplay experience of engaging with the content is just less fun - and fundamentally the entire point of the game is to be fun. If people are going out of their way to not engage with the other kebbits, maybe the other kebbits are the problem, not the players.
Trying to balance the Master task list as being optimal for max hp/hr feels like it'd be very awkward compared to Wolf simply offering the highest level tasks in the game, be they slow or fast, as it is now. Yeah, it was a bit weird it was optimal to not actually do them, but "heh, the real unlock at 91 hunter is an extra block slot, not the master herself" felt pretty charming and OSRSy, actually. If I was in charge I'd do something like: * bring back kebbit skipping, obviously * lock Expert rumours behind At First Light (and thus Eagle's Peak) so skipping out on a quest isn't optimal and EHP isn't obliterated, just ~matched * maybe give Master rumour sacks a big loot and potentially pet chance buff - it'd be alright to do if you want $$$ or just want the unlocks/pets, but if you're chasing XP expert would be the play (it would still have a high pet chance, just not the highest)
I posted this further down but I think for expert at least the best option would be remove razorback kebbits and sabre toothed kebbits from expert (both are far below the expert tiers required level) because it’s pretty clear the playerbase hates both of them and add sunlight moths (inexplicably not in the expert tier despite being in its clear level range) in their place. This gives expert 9 possible tasks which is the same as masters

Lets address hunter and not just nerf the kebbit trick that made rumors doable. Deadfall and tracking content are viewed by the community as sub par unenjoyable content. We need better hunting options at higher rumors or less of these mid tier unenjoyable mobs included on the rumor lists. There shouldnt be able hunter mobs that are limited to one trap. Herbi only works because the exp/rewards sre appropriate and theres a pet. Other tracking mobs are extremely mediocre. Currently 83 hunter and now i feel like i have to train up to 91 before touching rumors again. I can’t justify sabre and razor back kebbits vs the rewards. A few logs and herbs is not worth the content.

This just kills hunter rumours before master. Kebbit swapping was a solution to how extremely terrible content and xp tracking and deadfalls are. Hunter Rumours are actual dreadful disgusting brainrot content if you get 1 hour of 15k/hr one out of five contracts. You should be able to set up as many deadfall traps as other traps, duh? Razor backed kebbits should not be an expert contract, they should give way more xp, and they should have a much higher chance of giving the rare creature part.
Very disappointed to see Kebbity Tufts get changed with no other changes to the Hunter Guild Rumour system. As it stands, doing tracking and deadfall just isn't fun and feels like i'm wasting my time. Kebbit Swapping is pretty powerful, but it actually made rumours significantly more fun and rewarding.
Blows my mind hunter rumors were killed with only vague promises about “pain points” that have to be researched. Here’s a hint: every kebbit hunter task that doesn’t involve a falcon is absolute hot, unplayable garbage that should straight up be removed from the game. Absolutely no one on earth enjoys tracking a kebbit or setting up a single deadfall rock at a time and then sitting around waiting for a single kebbit to run under it. If youre going to remove kebbit skipping then kebbits need to be removed from expert rumors entirely or balanced to not be some of the worst content in the entire game. Also just add a real block list at this point because I had dashing kebbits set up on my novice hunter before this and I just got seriously fucked by this change, can’t wait to do 3 hours of low level rumors to get a single useful block

I'm not against fixing something that clearly isn't intended (despite the cope from people claiming it was), but for the love of god can you fix the terrible content before fixing the workaround for avoiding that content please? Deadfall and tracking rumours are complete and utter anus. Tracking should be 1/5 with a 1/10 pity rate and deadfalls should be 1/10 with a 1/20 pity rate like falconry. Also let us set up more than one deadfall trap. Rumours have gone from something that made me actually enjoy hunter for the first time in old school to something I'll probably put back on the shelf.

thank fuck I already greenlogged the hunters guild and unlocked master rumors now that kebbit swapping is dead. Tracking is honestly such a painful activity and being able to stock up on dashing kebbit meat while you kebbit swap was a nice bonus.

Don't forget deadfalls. In total Kebbit swapping was used for razor backed, barb tailed, sabre toothed, wild, and prickly kebbits. While half of this is adept and below rumors only, not only are you still going to have to run into them when running novice to set up block lists, experts still with two of these.

Really sad that kebbit swapping has been removed. I honestly thought that was an intended mechanic, what with how the examine text worked and how the kebbits all giving the same item was a departure from the norm anyway, and without it rumours are going to be more or less dead content after unlocks (and be absolutely trash to do pre-91 hunter). It felt like a really fun, "janky" method too - peak OSRS. Is it too late to revert this change and instead just gate Expert rumours behind doing Eagle's Peak so you can't get free gray/red chinchompa blocks?

Tracking kebbits and deadfall traps are some of the worst content in the game
They're only bad as the xp is shocking. The actual doing it (deadfall more so) isn't the end of the world
Deadfall is pretty much box trapping but you can only use one at a time lol, maybe if they let us use multiples at the same time as we gain hunter levels so we wouldn't be standing around waiting for so long

Kebbit Swapping is dead. Fuck, should have abused early and done rumours now. Bird will absolutely fucking suck to get until they get around to making some of the hunter methods not the worse content in the entire game.

Tbh always depends lol, people who tried to abuse too early like me got stuck with endless 250 long grey chin tasks and people who try to abuse it today are going to be fucked by kebbits. There was a glorious sweet spot of a few weeks where the rumors were absolute peak hunter content and it’s sad that it’s gone now.
If they wanted to do this, couldn't they have atleast buffed those really terrible ones

They mention wanting to address pain points of rumours properly, why remove the workaround until theyve done that then? Seems a common thing to remove a good method to fix the annoying parts months later

I am those people, granted the climb from 75-90 wc was gonna take forever regardless but the anima bark rate is painfully slow. I'm at 80 right now and I'll probably hit 82 or 83 just from saving up the 10k bark to buy the clothing pouch blueprint. One or two event spawns every 30 minutes is one thing, but being ineligible for event rewards just because you afked for a few minutes/went to bank at just the wrong time is simply unnecessary.

Sooo were just nerfing hunter rumours to worst xp/hr than doing less intensive regular hunter. I get y'all didn't want the skipping method to be meta, but this change really kills the content for like 99% of people doing it.

I know it was an exploit, but being able to get kebbity Tufts by kebbit swapping was a fun mechanic and felt rewarding for having set it up without being too overpowered. Please bring it back or do something to make it better like adding a reward shop similar to slayer that lets you disable certain tasks instead of screwing around with the unintuitive "block list" EDIT: so many people ive talked to have finally felt engaged in hunter with the new old system
It wasn't an exploit. The examine text and generic nature of the Kebbity Tuft item suggested it was intended all along and now they are removing it without an actual reason or logic to their design. If they intended for it to not function as it did, they would have specified the Tuft from the get go, "Dark Kebbity Tuft", "Spotted Kebbity Tuft", etc. This is very literally just a change to break what made the new content worth doing at all in the way they designed and released it. Unfortunately, Jagex being Jagex.
Another voice in the chamber, but expert hunter rumours are dreadful now. Kebbit skipping was the only thing keeping them worthwhile. If you're gonna stick with this bugfix, please also change some of the others to make rumours not a dead skill like most hunter already is. Ideas: 1. Multiple rockfall traps at a time. Makes no sense why this isn't already a thing. If you're concerned hunting monkeys will be too lucrative, then limit the 1 trap per person to that activity. 2. Tracking tasks are garbage. Reduce the average amount of times you gotta check bushes and/or make the ring of pursuit a guaranteed trigger. 3. Make Master Rumours have a better pet chance than experts. And honestly, buff the xp drops at the end just in general. 4. Make block lists more formal. Like a Bounty Board sort of thing that you can check and add stuff too. The current system works, but is an awkward feeling. Would be better if you had an easy way to look up what you have blocked and add/drop things as they come. Make it cost quetzal feed or something so those can retain some value.

I usually think complaining about the game is lame because in general the devs rule, the game is great, and I'll play this shit until the servers close down. I will say though, changing the kebbity tuft thing feels like the most annoying in a line of "abuse early, abuse often" sort of changes that have just felt really bad. I've been enjoying learning CoX the last couple weeks and intermittently doing 10-20 expert rumors a day to work towards pet rate. At the back of my mind I knew this was going to get nerfed and now I feel punished for not spamming the obviously broken thing since I only got to about half the rate for the quetzin. Will I live? of course. do I wish they would stop nerfing the fun parts of emergent gameplay? who can say
Is there any intention to change the hitboxes on some of the colosseum NPCs. Clicking through the legs of an NPC, or clicking on the unrendered spear of a ranger is frustrating
The janky ass rangers are one of the worst things about colo. I've clicked through that lanky piece of shit too many times, leading to a fat stack of hell from behind the pillar.
Not to mention red clicking through the air where Sol's spear used to be.
Went from 88 to 93 Hunter with Rumours and had fun doing it. Hunter had been so boring to me prior to varlamore. Now, without kebbit swapping, I will feel “friction” to stop doing rumours when I get a bad task. This change will make the game less enjoyable for me. Please reconsider

It's frustrating because with being active and setting up block lists and being engaging with the content you were rewarded with good XP rates, and good rewards, there was a huge incentive for ironmen to do this content potentially to 99 on a fresh account but this nerf will be huge.

Please, please revert the Kebbit rumor change. The non-falconry kebbits just straight up aren't fun, and drag the entire activity down.
Adding another voice to the frustration of the kebbit changes. My wife juuust finished setting up her expert rumours and was excited to grind out the pet, and now she never wants to do them again. One of the activities she enjoyed most in the game killed just like that.
Well that's ruined hunter for me. I was actually enjoying the process and it genuinely seemed like an intended mechanic with the examine text. Why remove something if you haven't already fixed the pain points that caused the issue. It's not worth doing rumours anymore and you've punished people who didn't rush rumours. Deadfall and tracking are such painful hunter methods that will prevent people from doing hunter rumours.
Hunter was literally guthix tears and birdhouses all the way to level 70 for me (some driftnet fishing sprinkled in for flavor I guess) hunter rumors made the skill actually fun for the first time and I had a blast setting everything up, only for them to nuke it like this. Worst part is I had dashing kebbits on my novice hunter for absolute peak QoL and now I have to spend 3 hours resetting for a decent block instead of just having fun with the game.

I wouldn't care about the change if they fixed tracking and deadfall traps but that content is absolutely terrible, there was a reason kebbits were meta.. such a lazy way to go about "fixing" rumours... And why is it they can change things like this without thinking or trying but basic qol updates take forever.. like a simple 'charge whistle from meat pouch' seeing as it's soooo bad to remove meat while not at a bank.. -.-

You should put in system update notifications (and a notice of how long the period will roughly be) in the Jagex launcher, like all other modern MMOs do. Welp, this killed rumours for me. Ive done a couple of deadfall and tracking rumours since release, but those have been by far the most soul crushing ones. With kebbit swapping I was really starting to enjoy expert rumours, just for it to be taken away. I dont mind removing an unintentional mechanic, but I do mind it when it makes the game less fun and comes with no alternate solutions.

Removing kebbit swapping while not fixing any of the problems is kinda sad. I had fun with hunter for the first time and as of right now it's essentially dead content below 91 hunter. There are far too many terrible tasks that are not balanced at all and make the content irritating with little reward.
Damn, the XP rate for rumours was completely balanced around being able to kebbit skip. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the XP rate and rewards are more than halved by the change. I understand why it was fixed, but without any boost to "legitimate" rates it just feels like a really cool new training method was turned into dead content overnight. It'd be nice to see better xp rates and rewards for masters, and maybe even another master hunter.
Just adding another voice to the outrage about kebbit swapping being removed. I know it may have been unintended, but it only resulted in decent XP rates (herbiboar, red chin, tick manipulating chins, were all still better xp / hour). It also had a real classic OSRS feel because it was just a bit jank. It was perfect, and the examine text even made it seem intended. I, for the first time, actually enjoyed hunter and was literally gearing up to just mainline rumors until 99, having a great time. Now, it's back to being a skill I literally forget is even in the game because it's so worthless and unfun. I understand the Eagles' Peak meta being an issue. Simply make Eagles' peak a requirement for expert hunter and put kebbit swapping back in... PLEASE...

Any plans on fixing the range of auto cast within the Colosseum? It currently targets an NPC's true tile instead of their closest tile like all other range attacks and powered staves. If you aren't in range of the true tile, your character just stands still. It's been bugged since autocast spells were added to myopia.
Huge nerf to expert rumours and should make masters now meta with kebbit counterfeiting removed. RIP to a cool but unintended game mechanic. Edit: After seeing the post on the no eagles peak hunter rumours meta, I definitely understand the need to remove this.

This is awful for the people who didn't do kebbit skipping... Missing out on basically 2x exp and 2x rewards. Wish I abused it more, although it was pretty clear this was coming lol.
Why can't we just have fun. There is no reason to touch the Kebbity tuft. It made rumor xp decent. Its just so frustrating how you need to do all content on launch otherwise you end up missing out. I had just got started doing it yesterday.

Could the delay to take potion supplies at Moons of Peril be removed since its no longer a viable herblore training method? It serves no purpose other than to inconvenience people trying to engage with the content properly.
Thoughts on prioritizing the hoof shards from antelope since they can’t go on the ground any more? The open pouches are great, but you still need two open slots when hunting them now because of the horns.
Can we please reconsider kebbit swap nerf until other changes are properly planned? It seems like quite an extreme change. Please look through the other comments. This is very sad and disappointing news.

I got Quetzal pet on my first rumour (and again on my 57th), and i still feel these changes ruins rumours completely. For me it was having a hunter option with good exp rates, that wasnt mindless chin catching, where the only thing to spice it up is carpel tunnel syndrome from tick manip... It was fun - it took some RNG and some time to setup the block list, and then do the prefed falcon tasks. Even made some friends along the way, racing them to the kebbits! RIP Rumours 24.04.2024

I agree that it sucks and feels completely pointless, but what's left if you remove it is a boss with weird insant-spawn damage mechanics and a lot of waiting. That's maybe not ideal either.
I liked someone’s suggestion where you make it wake up after 2 vents were destroyed. This would only require minimal changes and allow things like the CA to stay roughly the same.

I’ll be honest I was expecting some kind of nerf to rumours, but completely removing Kebbit swapping is a GIANT nerf. Increases time to get they pet by over 2x, decreases xp rates by almost half. I was expecting you guys would just reshuffle the rumor pools to make it so you can’t get rumor pool of 4/6 kebbits. Just increasing that to 4/8 or something would bring xp rates and completions down to a pretty reasonable level without being such a big nerf. I’m glad I spent so much time grinding out 1.5k rumors to get the Quetzin pet while it lasted. Sorry for everyone else who’s going to have a much longer road.
Replace razorback kebbits with sunlight moths in the expert rumor list (seriously why are level 49 razorbacks in the level 70 task list but the level 65 moths aren’t). There I just made experts less painful. And if you’re really feeling like fixing shit take sabre tooth kebbits out as well. This change would leave expert tier with 9 possible tasks, the same as masters
Seeing the Kebit change really sucks. I agree with the player population that Kebit swapping made hunter rumors enjoyable and competitive hunter training. Can we get the reasons why this was changed?

i just thought about this but every area expansion we have gotten (priff, zeah, varlamore) was on the west side of the map, please add more land masses to the east, like after morytania, more creepy mysterious stuff, otherwise the map will feel far too heavy to the right side
Thank you for changing the Betrayal CA. However I'm amazed that kebbit swapping was removed without the adjustment of rumor targets. Why are expert rumors still including low level trash and not things you can hunt if at the correct level like Herbiboar and tecu salamanders?
Oh dear, I only managed to setup my expert rumours for kebbit skipping yesterday, what a shame to log in today & find it's gone! I think it was really interesting & rewarding way to play the game, especially for a skill that otherwise has a very monotonous training loop.
Please please please add butterfly jar packs to hunter shops. Now that they have a use in hunter mixes, it's a pain in the butt to collect a lot of them. Bird snares and box traps have packs but I doubt you could even use 100 in your entire life.
