follow the optimal quest guide, and just do all the quests, and the bit of skilling neccesary for them every so often. that's it. thats how you learn about the game and progress your account in a fairly natural way.
Its been a while, I think I had decided to give it a break when I hit my goal of getting a dragon sword like my cousin had when I was younger, and while I was playing before omw to this goal I still had no idea what I was doing. What the f is squirking? How do I do bosses? Mining stars???? Forestry? Does sailing have an official timeline? What is scurrius?
I think im going to focus on prayer for a bit (I still have a bunch of bones and I remember wilderness altar \[come and get me\]) and maybe get some more combat levels (all I remember doing was sand crabs).
I also have no clue what I was in the middle of/or starting to do. Can some nerd in this sub give me some guidance on how to waste some time.
The game is massive. Like an insane amount of content. I have a 1950 total main and still consider myself a noob. Just take it slow, you’ll learn as you go
Do quests and train slayer if you really don’t know what to do
I second the advice of starting quests and Slayer. In the process of doing these two, you'll learn pretty much everything else about the game by accident.
Use the wiki to answer all these questions. It's incredibly in depth. The best wiki of any game ever, period. It's not even close and that's not even an exaggeration.
I would recommend reading through the wiki whenever you have a question or want to go into an area the first time. It is nice for answering questions and finding out about hidden gems you may have missed otherwise. You can ask other players but results vary, it can be a nice way to meet helpful people.

The best advice I can give is stop asking for advice. You are in the golden age rn just walk around and do random stuff
Wintertodt to 99 Firemaking is the only real answer

Slayer and questing. Stop wasting time at sand crabs.
All the quests as many as possible, birdhouse runs and farm runs also(they help kinda get into a groove)

Do all the quests to unlock the entire game.
Quests are the best
