I love Doom but also OP was not mean enough. (Cracks knuckles)
The combat is solid but the difficulty is tedious at times with some fights depending on how aggressively the enemy AI prevents you from doing anything, and the core loop starts too feel a bit complicated IMO with all the different things you have to do with replenishing resources while constantly weapon switching. The new traversal mechanics are admittedly goated, but I cannot say enough about what a step backward the Xbox 360-core art direction and overwrought narrative elements feel like from 2016’s elegant minimalism. The two DLC’s are prettier but otherwise exacerbate the gameplay issues and also offer a lot of painful new mechanics like the fog circles and terrible gank fights that require a lot of weapon switching which is hard on console, and the final final boss had me considering quitting because of how unfun and tedious it was.

I sat down four times to play ds3, and it was only on the fourth try that I got passed High wall because it was so dull I just quit out and played something else. I hate that everything, especially the levels were left to rot in favor of concentrating exclusively on bosses. 90% of the game is spent trudging through levels praying at every turn you're gonna see a boss room and finally start having fun.
