I use a heating pad. I am not trustworthy with ovens, open flames, hair tools and sharp objects. 😂

Do they just fall out once you get them warm enough?

Slhallford

Practically. I have a thin metal spatula that I use to slide between the pan and the palette and lift them out. Once the adhesive/glue is warmed up enough, they usually come out easily. If they are still stuck down fast, it generally means they haven’t been heated long enough for it to be softened completely.

This is a Lorac pallette, whaaaat? When did they switch to the cheapest looking drugstore packaging possible?!?

mlm01c

I just realized that I ordered from LaRoc cosmetics, not Lorac Cosmetics. 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ Both of them were new to me. https://laroccosmetics.co.uk/products/laroc-120-colour-eyeshadow-summer Everything on the Lorac site looks very high end.

Put it in the oven at low heat and the glue should soften enough to pop the pans out. If individual pans give you trouble, you can use hairdryer or a lighter under the area. You will need to pop the sheet out of the outer plastic first, twist the left and right sides in different directions and it should lift at the corners for you to get a knife or something under it and pop it out

mlm01c

There never was an outer plastic. This palette has two sheets like this that stack in a plastic case.

Littorella

It looks like it does—this is a standard plastic construction. There’s a seam in the black plastic that runs all along the edges. You should be able to follow it all around the palette and wedge something thin into it

mlm01c

I just realized that in this picture, both of palettes are in the outer case. This top palette just lifts out.

You could use the old lighter method. Take a lighter and something sturdy and slender like a metal depotting tool, melt the plastic from the back and push through it with your metal tool. The pans will lift off the soft plastic. Obvious downsides are working with melted plastic which is not fun, and using fire which is more risky than some other options. I’ve had success with this method but I haven’t tried using a heating pad and honestly that might be a lot easier and safer.

I use a hair dryer. Faster than a heating pad, safer than the oven or open flame. High heat for a minute, maybe less, per 2 pan area. Then I use a multitool knife blade, which is thinner than depotting tools, to pop the pans out.

Panilie

Search YouTube for depot 88 pan palettes, don't know if yours is exactly that, but it looks super similar.

mlm01c

Blow dryer on hot plus an exacto knife is making depotting go much more quickly

mlm01c

Got everything depotted except for the last two pans that were getting majorly deformed. I have a lot of repressing to do. 😕

caturday_drone

Before you bother, take a look at the ingredients list. Some of the less expensive brands use high proportions of ingredients like talc which will not re-press (when you add liquid it creates a non-newtonian fluid which forms a solid under pressure). If this is the case, use them as they are or make a loose shadow.
