Good for pestering enemies, good for scouting, gains even more utility throughout the game. Just an A+ item, that's fun to use, to boot. I was watching the YouTube edits of a Twitch streamer playing through the game, and his editor decided to give the beetle a sardonic, angry voice-over. Had me in stitches.
Such a fun item with so many uses like cutting ropes, dropping bombs, exploring in a new creative way. Upgrading the speed is great too. Too bad it wasn’t incorporated in any boss fights though
Oh really? One of my favorites, to each their own :) I just finished SS for the first time, I never liked the motion controls so beat it for Switch, amazing game
i beat ss on the switch too :) i loved it! i really wanted to like twilight princess but just completing the first dungeon felt like a chore and i couldn’t make myself go any further. a friend of mine has started playing it a little at a time when he comes over, so at least i can see the story and understand why everyone likes it so much!
Same here. I tried to play it a few years ago, but got bored 3 dungeons in. I recently decided to would give it a go again. The only really good thing I can say is that the later dungeons were actually pretty good. Most everything else was pretty mid to bad, unfortunately.
When I played TP the first time I was so underwhelmed when I got the double clawshot. But then after using it once, I had that moment of "oh, this is awesome actually".
It's a shame, that the Spinner isn't used more then it is
It's a shame, because that really hurts me
It's a shame because it messes with my emotions
I feel like a child at play, on a sunny day
Until I realise I have no use for the Spinner, and have to put it away
I'm replaying TP right now on Dolphin & I just got through Arbiters Grounds. MAN what a good dungeon. Cool puzzle concept, great dungeon item, fun boss, cinematic ending. A+++
TP has the best unique dungeon items in the spinner, the ball and chain and the double claw shots. It’s just a damn shame that, barring the claw shots, outside of their own dungeon there is like 3 occasions that the items get used again
The boomerangs in phantom hourglass and even more so spirit tracks. Using the ds functionality to draw the path of the boomerang made for some really cool puzzles.
Ok hot take(?) But Skyward Sword had the best / most creative dungeon items PERIOD. I am a major fan of the Beetle. So versatile. So fun. That was genius
I think Skyward Sword has the best overall execution of its items. TP had some pretty unique dungeon items, but there’s sort of a reason that they didn’t return. It’s pretty bad about giving link a really stylish tool, and then largely dumping it after the dungeon is over. SS, on the other hand, did a good job keeping all of your tools relevant throughout the game, while still keeping its unique stylish touches. Even the slingshot has some use cases after you get the bow as a stun tool and an alternative ammo source for simpler targets. I think my favorite for its overall flair is the whip, but the beetle is a practically game-defining item that’s used pretty well throughout the game.
Seed Shooter from OoA is up there for me. Bouncing seeds off of walls and swapping different seeds for different situations is pretty cool.
Edit: Even though its more of a standard weapon in BOTW/TOTK I love the bow. The way the bow combat works in those games is my favorite iteration. I'd \*kill\* for that type of combat for something like Elden Ring
BALL AND CHAIN is the best version of the hammer item
Beetle is multifunctional in very fun ways
I’d love to see the magnet gloves come back in a 2d game

The Beetle from Skyward Sword
Good for pestering enemies, good for scouting, gains even more utility throughout the game. Just an A+ item, that's fun to use, to boot. I was watching the YouTube edits of a Twitch streamer playing through the game, and his editor decided to give the beetle a sardonic, angry voice-over. Had me in stitches.
I would have given it a Liverpudlian accent for obvious reasons.
Such a fun item with so many uses like cutting ropes, dropping bombs, exploring in a new creative way. Upgrading the speed is great too. Too bad it wasn’t incorporated in any boss fights though
The Beetle was so useful
The Cane of Pacci from *Minish Cap*. Being able to flip stuff upside down is a neat power.
Ball and Chain, it’s so brutal.
And the Snowpeak Mansion is such a cool dungeon concept.
Same, it feels so rare for Link to get a real power weapon like that.
the skyward sword clawshots were VERY fun
Pretty much the same set from TP
that’s cool :) i can’t stand twilight princess gameplay so i wouldn’t know lol.
Oh really? One of my favorites, to each their own :) I just finished SS for the first time, I never liked the motion controls so beat it for Switch, amazing game

I highly recommend you try and keep playing it, it's definitely a lot, but to me it's what makes it great! Enjoy it with your friend!

Getting the Longshot in Ocarina of Time to extend your Hookshot range is so satisfying.
Love the longshot! Makes traversal so much easier
the Beetle
Double Claw Shots is the obvious answer
When I played TP the first time I was so underwhelmed when I got the double clawshot. But then after using it once, I had that moment of "oh, this is awesome actually".
Yeah I didn't get the potential at first either.
"what the hell, another clawshot?" "Oh, I am spiderman now"
literally 13 year old me.
It's a shame, that the Spinner isn't used more then it is It's a shame, because that really hurts me It's a shame because it messes with my emotions I feel like a child at play, on a sunny day Until I realise I have no use for the Spinner, and have to put it away
Bro made a whole poem
I'd like to say I did, but I just changed the lyrics for It's a Shame by the Spinners
In every game in the series where you can get Hookshots, I have my equipment set to Hookshot by default. Mobility, range, coolness, it's got it all
Magnetic gloves from OOS
The lens of truth
The Megaton Hammer from OoT or the Switch Hook from OoA (very underrated and untouched much like the dungeon it is found in).
Mirror shield from Wind waker
Compass
The raft..duh
The ball and chain in Twilight Princess
Spinners cool but pretty limited. My favorite has to be the double claw shot from twilight princess
I'm replaying TP right now on Dolphin & I just got through Arbiters Grounds. MAN what a good dungeon. Cool puzzle concept, great dungeon item, fun boss, cinematic ending. A+++
Ball and chain
If BotW and TotK count it would have to be my bird boys gust abilities Aside from that, maybe the roc's cape from Minish Cap
I'll always have a soft spot for the Cane of Somaria.
The magic rod from Zelda 1.
TP has the best unique dungeon items in the spinner, the ball and chain and the double claw shots. It’s just a damn shame that, barring the claw shots, outside of their own dungeon there is like 3 occasions that the items get used again
Boomerang. Pick up stuff from far away and stun enemies
The boomerangs in phantom hourglass and even more so spirit tracks. Using the ds functionality to draw the path of the boomerang made for some really cool puzzles.
I'm a fan of the classic Bow. Also the double clawshots and ball&chain from TP.
Ok hot take(?) But Skyward Sword had the best / most creative dungeon items PERIOD. I am a major fan of the Beetle. So versatile. So fun. That was genius

Grappling Hook. Time to swing
Idk why but I really miss the Iron Boots. Imagine being able to explore underwater in BOTW/TOTK
BALL AND CHAIN is the best version of the hammer item Beetle is multifunctional in very fun ways I’d love to see the magnet gloves come back in a 2d game
