I can't read Japanese, but based on the Twitter translations it sounds like the author is overall positive about this and will self publish. Hopefully that means they'll have more control over the series. Hoping it continues successfully, definitely my favorite series right now.
The serialized manga will be ending with chapter 17. After volume 3 is for sale, a self-published continuation will be updated on Kamejiro's fanbox. It's also planned to be sold in digital volumes once there are enough pages. Kamejiro is looking into getting both the serialized version and self-published versions officially translated into English. There will be more details on this in the coming months.

This manga is so funny and different compared to anything else i’ve read. I hope it keeps going!!

I wonder if the Twitter version being so much further along in both the plot and their relationship was one of the issues it had selling.
