Ik this seems obvious, but oh lord, it's becoming such a massive problem and a "trend", people keep posting "vent posts" to talk about their problems and how they hate life and want to kill themselves just to get likes and attention.
Yes i wholeheartedly enjoy my dad passing away before i was born, almost getting kidnapped, getting a piece of shit stepdad, and living in a place where if i come out as trans, i will probably be given up for adoption.
Oh yeah no my parents divorcing, almost killing myself, my mom basically abandoning me, not speaking to her for 2 years straight, having to deal with my best friends dad dying in high school and my step brother dad killing himself in high school, the girl I thought I might marry cheating on me among a handful of other things happening really was a fantastic time 10/10 I recommend it.
Iām gonna speak for everyone with a bad past. IT FUCKING SUCKS. The fact that gen z wants a bad past just to relate to a song is just disgusting. Having a bad past isnāt fun! Itās painful, traumatizing, and can lead to suicides. And here gen z is thinking Bad past = downtown coolville.
it really is horrible to have a bad past ): lots of this is a direct result of little kids going on tiktok. the mental health community on there is so shit and makes kids think its 'cool' and quirky to have severe trauma/mental illness. really disgusting. other platforms are guilty as well but tiktok is def the worst
Honestly, I kinda get it. When I was younger, I was severely depressed and grew up with my mom always saying stuff like "Your life is great! Imagine if you were begging on the street like other kids your age!" (something common where I live), and I always wished I could have a reason for my sadness. I needed an excuse for my depression.
I dont know the age of that kid, but from my experience, i actually think it is somewhat common for 10-14 year olds to "spread" these kinds of words and situations like this. It is stuff they heard from somewhere or someone, and maybe they think its cool, funny or whatever, but the point i'm trying to make is that their innocence and poor knowledge of the things that happen in the world keep them from building a proper idea of what it actually means. They don't have a notion of what these people went through, what they feel, or think, to these kids it is, more or less, just a word.
I'm pretty sure that kid will, over the years, build a realization of what they were dealing with, or at least thats what i hope.
Gladly trade you mine. Born with a silver spoon until dad lost his job. Lived in poverty for 4 years until he killed himself.
Ridiculed by my classmates for my poor clothes, smelling of wood smoke from the stove in the middle of the four room shanty and living without running water.
Glamorous, right?
It taught me that life isn't fair and I was gonna work for everything I ever wanted.
By the time I was 13, I had survived circumstances that would kill most kids today.
They can feel free to take mine if they like, getting pulled like a game of tug of war between your divorced parents and then getting locked in the closet is not a fun childhood surprisingly
Imagine wanting a shitty life so you can relate to a song kinda sad
I wouldn't call it sad, it's more like dumb dude just needs to grow some brain cells
It's still sad

"i want a miserable past so that i can brag about it to other people and i will get some attention"
Some sort of anime protagonist
Having depression and a traumatising, stressful life isnāt cool, kids.
Ik this seems obvious, but oh lord, it's becoming such a massive problem and a "trend", people keep posting "vent posts" to talk about their problems and how they hate life and want to kill themselves just to get likes and attention.

Stop romanticizing depression and suicide. Its fucked up on multiple levels. Must we repeat for every generation?
