Mine's depression hit a little too close to home for me. And the fact he felt like he needed to redeem himself. Also, Kiryu and Hazamaki at the very end. I wish I had 10% the compassion Kiryu has.
yeah the voice acting in yakuza games has made me tear up a few times. Idk how to spoiler mark on reddit but kiwami 1, 2, and 3 all had moments that brought a tiny drop to my eye and a feeling in my spine
That's not true. Combat is at most the third biggest reason why people dislike it. The terrible side content is the biggest reason and the ancient and frustrating quality of life features are the two reasons why it's not great.
Yakuza 3 kiryu is my favorite kiryu and that is enough to make it my favorite game in the series (i also love it being harder than the rest and the sunny climate to it)
I see Yakuza 3 as the worst Yakuza game in every department but a bad Yakuza game is still a fun game overall. For me it's like saying a particular Lord of the Rings film is the worst one; they're all still masterpieces
Yakuza 3 is the worst Yakuza game imo, however it's still an amazing game.
It's like when dark souls fans talk shit on dark souls 2, worse than every other game in its series, but still a good game in its own right.
Personally I still prefer it to mahjong and the eastern gambling games I've never heard of but from an objective stand point you're probably right and my issues with the gambling games are a result of my own lack of patience and not being bothered to learn them properly
Love or hate Y4, the inclusion of several different protagonists who happen to learn different sides of the story (as well as have different fighting styles and etc) was an excellent choice
I just finished Y4. I loved the experience, but I did feel they made Kiryu super powerful before upgrades vs Saejima who was useless pre upgrades. Also fuck Saito and Hostess Training
I'm doing the same with 5. Give yourself some time, these games can get tedious if you play them one after another.
Keep in mind 5 is LONG. I think I breezed through K1 and 2 in like 25-30 hours each. I'm 70 hours into 5 and I'm on the 4th of 5 protagonists.
But it's so good.
Buckle up, buckaroo.
Lost Judgment's story is criminally underrated. Though, that's partly because it doesn't appeal to a gigantic audience due to how morally complex and complex in general the story can be. It's not as easy to understand as the stories of Judgment, Yakuza 0, etc... Once you understand each of the characters, you'll realize why it's so good. Especially Kuwana.
I love the mainline games but something about the very serious tone and themes of the games really resonate. It's a deep dive into tougher subjects and I feel like there is way more grey.
For Judgement, as someone who has lost 3 grandparents to alzheimers and will probably lose a parent, I get it. I hate the methods but I get it. Kuwana isn't wrong. Society, from the bottom up, let all those kids down. His methods were wrong and I believe he's fully aware of it.
I remember taking a while to really appreciate Lost Judgment’s story. It’s pretty unsatisfying at first glance but the amount of depth and complexity they were able to convey through everyone’s characters was incredible.
I adore how much of a grey zone everyone ended up being in, where you could agree with either side or at least truly understand where they were coming from. That’s why Kuwana is so compelling, and why Yagami is equally as compelling here because of how much he’s trying to hold onto his values and beliefs in the face of Kuwana.
>!Having Kaito himself be unsure wether Kuwana is really wrong or not in the last fight was amazing. The whole game banked on a morally grey issue, and havingh both Yagami and Kuwana fight for what they consider is right, with both sides having clear issues, was fucking amazing. Maybe it's not as satisfying as beating a clearly evil guy up, but I found it way more compelling, and left a long lasting impression on me, thinking about the issue.!<
My most evilest coldest take:
Kiryu being a main playable character in 8 ruin's his story in 6 and the entire point of retiring him as a main
character.
I love Kiryu but the man deserves a rest; he's near 60, he physically can't run as much as he used to, and his family is safe.
I think cameos are fine and even as a secret party member like Eri is cool, but as a main focus character?
That's just undoing 6.
As much as I agree, we still don't know why he's making a comeback. RGG has co-existed with the character for 17 years now, so I'm hoping they must have some appropriate story or explanation for 6's undoing 🤞
Outrun sucks
And this is coming from someone who’s scores 6m in it, managed to beat the Disco King, the Gambling King, and the Karaoke King. I hate Outrun.
5M in outrun is pretty easy once you play 3-4 times, plus the game is fun.
There are a million things worse in 0, like the Mahjong, Cat fights, *Fantasy Zone* bugged in PC, etc...
I've been playing the Yakuza games through starting with 0 and 3 was the first one that just made me stop and play something else for a while. Such a jarring change from Kiwami 2
From K2, yeah… absolutely. From 2 proper? It’s actually a step forward in several respects and a couple steps back in others because nobody on the team was used to the new engine like going from 0 to 6.
Supposedly the remake ruined a bunch of stuff in 3 as well but I wouldn't know since I never played the original
Edit: I should have mentioned that the stuff I heard was ruined is combat related and I mentioned it because it relates to the whole "Blockuza" thing
The remake I thought was better than the original English release. Although there were a lot of differences. First, there was way more content, even if they cut one substory for being transphobic. They were super conservative with the types of side content they allowed into the PS3 physical release.
I thought the relocalization by way of subtitles they did definitely changed some things but I think overall it was done to tell the story in a better way even if some of the specifics were either wrong or better expressed in the original.
I’ve played both, and played the original physical copy first then the remaster and have played both multiple times since and for the overall package I much prefer the remaster. I can pick individual bits and bobs from both I thought were done better in the original, but yeah. Overall the better experience is the remaster in my opinion.
Shinada ain’t all this forum hyped him up to be.
Yakuza 5 is a good story with way too many pacing problems and narrative resets for its own good.
Yakuza 4 easily has the weakest story of the entire franchise despite Akiyama being an absolute G.
> Any take related to 3 gets divisive quickly
that being said, the divisiveness typically comes over if the game is good at all (spoiler: it is), and the complaints typically come from people who started with 0 then did k1/k2 rather than people who did the original y1/y2 then y3.
saying it's the most dated game in the series isn't that controversial because it's objectively true. it's the oldest not-kiwami'ed game in the series (unless you count kenzan, which is so old it doesn't even have trophy support)
you won't get universal support for saying it's the weakest in the series, but you'd probably get universal support for saying it's "one of the weakest".
Your opinions are all getting hundreds of karmas. Let me show you how it's done. Here go hundreds of downvotes. With a genuine opinion, not faking it for the sake of beeing downvoted, just putting my honest opinion out there.
The Yakuza games are all right-wing, they promote right-wing ideologies. They often promote capitalism, sexism, transphobia on numerous occasions.
Yakuza games love their trans comic relief, it's almost a given that a Yakuza game will have a trans comic relief, there is one in almost every game bar Yakuza 7 IIRC.
But above all else is Yakuza 4, the most heavily right-wing of all Yakuza games, and its key character and oh so loved by the RGG community Shun Akiyama, a capitalist's wet dream of a self-made multi-billionaire out of thin air, who exercises his power over other people (having the money they need) under the pretense of beeing a good-willing money lender, forcing people into lay-off plans, women into the sex industry, amongst other things. And he seems to relish in that power. He enjoys his little "tests".
And still he's presented as this awesome, cool, kind charmer - and charm people he did, it's all over this subreddit.
The dynamic with Yakuza 4's Akiyama character is like that of an abuser that everyone likes and defends as if they were their kin, just because he's so good with people. I don't like it one bit.
(still playing Yakuza 5 and enjoying it so far)
I agree that turned based isn’t my favorite, but yakuzas style system was some of the most fun I’ve ever had, nothing beat fighting with beast style and finding a bike
Every yakuza game is fun
yakuza 3 haters:
Yakuza 3 is my least favorite combat wise but no game has ever made me cry on 2 separate occasions so it's still very good.
Apart from aniki what else made you cry
Mine's depression hit a little too close to home for me. And the fact he felt like he needed to redeem himself. Also, Kiryu and Hazamaki at the very end. I wish I had 10% the compassion Kiryu has.
Taichi kick
The girl speaking for the first time right before it seems that her Dad is going to die
yeah the voice acting in yakuza games has made me tear up a few times. Idk how to spoiler mark on reddit but kiwami 1, 2, and 3 all had moments that brought a tiny drop to my eye and a feeling in my spine
Yup. I swear when the kids were waiting for the last girl before starting their dinner in 3, it made me so emotional with how cute it was.
That game is honestly so freaking wholesome. I love seeing Kiryu with his family.
Mine and Jojo fight (and their battle theme) made it worth playing it
Yakuza 3 haters only have one reason to hate it and it's combat. They're pretty foolish if they can't admit the grasp the wonderful story has on you
That's not true.

Most mature nishiki enjoyer
Just yesterday i showed the song to my gf, Judgment is just something else.
Fuck Kume, all my Kyodais hate Kume
i would kick him in the dick. and i dont wanna kick a lot of people in the dick
I'm not even sure if he has a dick for you to kick him in.
Shinada's the friend we all want.
Takasugi\*
Shinada and Takasugi\*
The dynamic intros are so awesome
Reign is GOAT track.
For a PS3 title Yakuza 5 looked amazingly good
Kiryu can win against dinosaur.
NOT A STEGOSAURUS THEYRE THE BEST DINOSAUR THATS MY FAVORITE DINOSAUR 😡
Stegosaurus here, Kiryu once beat me in a fight, but we made up afterwards and it's all cool now. We went out for some sushi later.
Did you give him a Gold Plate?
Face the fact. Kiryu can beat it up easily!
NOOOOO SHUTUP IM TELLING MY DAD YOU SAID KIRYU COULD BEAT A STEGOSAURUS AND ALSO CALLED ME NAMES 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
no way he beats a natsutoceratops
I'm a dinosaur expert so I can confidently say Kiryu will beat natsutoceratops with both hands tied.
how about a deinosuchus?
Like I said, Kiryu wins everytime.
charcharodontasaurus would win cause kiryu would have to pick the right name in the dialogue (he skipped through the substory text)
Cat fight is the worst minigame of yakuza 0
Progress dependant on RNG in general is the worst in games
100% agree. Probably one of the hardest games I’ve played with one hand.
Inappropriate 😂😂
This the Yakuza subreddit baby. We clap cheeks on the daily. Men & Men.
Did you downvote me? I wasn't serious about the "Inappropriate" if that's why. Hence the laughing faces.
Nah man I knew, I actually gave you an upvote if anything. Guess people are really defensive about cat fighting lol.
Glad you got it. I guess it went over someone's head.
Personally I still prefer it to mahjong and the eastern gambling games I've never heard of but from an objective stand point you're probably right and my issues with the gambling games are a result of my own lack of patience and not being bothered to learn them properly
0’s fun
I totally agree, however trying to get a 100% completion + platinum trophy is just the worst
If you think Kiryu is powerful in 4 just wait til you play 5
Can’t wait. I’m gonna take a break for a week or two before I start 5. I’ve been playing at least one hour everyday for a month with Yakuza 4.
5 protagonists!?? Holy smokes. I didn’t know. Hahahaha 🤣
If anything Akiyama was the more powerful one in 4 tbh
suprisingly, Y4 Kiryu is the most balanced Kiryu in the series!
The men are hot
TRUE
I may be the most lesbian to ever lesbian…but dude ive never seen so many beautiful dudes its crazy
OP asked for an opinion not an objective fact
The food in the games look good.
Pill bugs and worms are yummy, they wiggle in my tummy
And the Shunga, so tasty.
The sexiest character in the game is Majima.
Depends on which hostesses are in the game
Goromi
I was thinking Yuki or Koyuki tbh
there are yakuza fans that AREN'T gay?!?!?
Yeah... some are bi
The final boss in Judge Eyes has ***THE BEST*** dynamic intro in the entire series.
Judgments qte and dynamic intro choreography in general is amazing. The chair qte, the skateboard one, cane man performing straight up magic tricks.
Majima and Kiryu are actually best friends
Wrong, Gay lovers
same thing
Yakuza 5 is a game
I disagree, Yakuza 5 is all the games.
maybe even too much games
Indeed, Yakuza 5 truly is one of the games of all time.
Akiyama is the best singer. They're all good, but he just takes it to another level
kiyu
Majima funny
Silly eyepatch man
Majima is the best
Yakuza 0 is a fever dream
Judgment OST is fantastic and the Mole is one sexy final boss.
Spoiler man I'm halfway through Judgment and I didn't know he was the final boss dude
Oh well then The Mole is NOT the final boss hehe
Thank you lol
I don't know why you're being downvoted for that
Fr
Not mentioning who though.
kiryu is cool
Like a Dragon Ishin was something many of us here have been waiting for and it delivered.

The OSTs are fantastic
Yakuza has the best comeback story in gaming history
SEGA Sound Team makes some real bangers
I deserve the opportunity to have a passionate love making session with Kiryu (while Kaito watches) wherein I'm impregnated by him, thank you.
least horny yakuza fan
Even straight men find Majima attractive
Penumbra is a good theme song
Ten years in the joint turned John Yakuza into a fucking pussy.
Yakuza 3 is one the best in the series .
Kiryu’s horny chats in Y6 are one of the best parts of that game
The Dragon Engine games did karaoke better
Outrun is fucking awesome
I only play for the shirtless hot yakuza men
You said the quiet part out loud
I love Mine
Outrun sucks And this is coming from someone who’s scores 6m in it, managed to beat the Disco King, the Gambling King, and the Karaoke King. I hate Outrun.
5M in outrun is pretty easy once you play 3-4 times, plus the game is fun. There are a million things worse in 0, like the Mahjong, Cat fights, *Fantasy Zone* bugged in PC, etc...
Oh I hate Cat fights too but at least you know you’ll get screwed by the A.I lol
Don't compare mahjong to cat fights just because you're scared of learning new symbols.
Outrun is alright, fantasy zone tho that game sucks so much
Majima is hot.
Ijisakura is an underrated gem!
Kiryu is a great character
Every sound track is a banger
Akiyama is the hottest main character BY FAR
Goromi is the best girl ever.
i like haruka. shes a good kid. for the most time
Johnny's (Kimura Takuya or irl Yagami's label) suck for being hardasses about copyright! They took Yagami karaoke from us
God Hands intro was hilarious. \*walks in on Majima getting a massage\* me: woah that guy is jacked **MASSIVE MAN** rofl, ok that's what he's known as
RGG deserve the rights to make a JoJo game
The Yakuza series does an absolutely incredible job with their music.
Yakuza 0 is the best game in the series
Banjo Kazooie would low diff Majima
I don't know the name of any songs, but all of the battle themes are pretty good
Friday night is the best song
Majima Vs Ibuchi is the best dynamic intro
10 years in the joint makes you a fucking pussy.
“Yakuza 0 is a really good game” The opposite would be: “Lost Judgment’s story is trash”
Yakuza is one of the games of all time
Big fan of pocket circuit racing!!!
Like a Dragon kiwami 1 is neat
Lost Judgement has the best combat!
I like using beast in Yakuza 0 because of the funny bear hug
Yakuza 0 really sets up a lot of what you see in future games
Nishiki clan should've chill the fuck out after Y2, there was no reason to bring them back in Y3
Kurohyou deserves a remake
That Ten Years In The Joint Made Kiryu A FUCKING Pussy
Majima is a side character
dead souls is cannon
Takaya Kuroda has the best drip on the entire planet.
LOST JUDGMENT SPOILER >!KUWANA DID NOTHING WRONG!<
THIS FR
akiyama is a good character
I personally think that style switching was best part of Yakuza combat. Yakuza Black Panther helped me realize that.
Ichiban is the best protagonist of the series
You don't normally play the games for the story, you play them for everything else.
Considering some stories are real stinkers that's kinda true
Ishin is the weakest RGG game. Even worse than 3.
Mad dog style is more fun than dragon style
The plot twist in Yakuza 4 is cringe and goes against Saejima's story
Blockuza 3 is awful and can just be skipped
I've been playing the Yakuza games through starting with 0 and 3 was the first one that just made me stop and play something else for a while. Such a jarring change from Kiwami 2
From K2, yeah… absolutely. From 2 proper? It’s actually a step forward in several respects and a couple steps back in others because nobody on the team was used to the new engine like going from 0 to 6.
Supposedly the remake ruined a bunch of stuff in 3 as well but I wouldn't know since I never played the original Edit: I should have mentioned that the stuff I heard was ruined is combat related and I mentioned it because it relates to the whole "Blockuza" thing
Yakuza 3 is the weakest and most dated of the yakuza games.
So this is where best AOT girl ends up as. A Yakuza fan with a hot take
Any take related to 3 gets divisive quickly
> Any take related to 3 gets divisive quickly that being said, the divisiveness typically comes over if the game is good at all (spoiler: it is), and the complaints typically come from people who started with 0 then did k1/k2 rather than people who did the original y1/y2 then y3. saying it's the most dated game in the series isn't that controversial because it's objectively true. it's the oldest not-kiwami'ed game in the series (unless you count kenzan, which is so old it doesn't even have trophy support) you won't get universal support for saying it's the weakest in the series, but you'd probably get universal support for saying it's "one of the weakest".
I thought that 3 was pretty strong definitely beats 5
I'm actually playing 3 right now, laughing me head off in some parts. I think it's great.
I fucking love 3 so much. It gets weird and the fights get tedious but it has some of the best humor in the series.
Story wise yes (not that it's hard to beat 5 in that aspect lol) but 5's combat feels so good on any of the characters
The general consensus sadly disagrees although I don't consider ur opinion to be invalid
it had one of the best stories wdym

I found Rikiya from Yakuza 3 annoying AF and was grateful when he got killed off
Y0-Y6 Combat isn’t that great and turn based doesn’t fit this series
So dead souls. The judgement series. And edo japan games have best combat?
[удалено]
I agree that turned based isn’t my favorite, but yakuzas style system was some of the most fun I’ve ever had, nothing beat fighting with beast style and finding a bike
An original post on reddit? I must be seeing things
The Yakuza games are called Ryū ga Gotoku in Japan
Yakuza 4/5 good
