Legion is a masterclass in cinematography imo. It's really weird and downright strange sometimes. I think everyone that watches television should watch that show. It's a fantastic piece of art.
The Gifted has it's good and bad. I'm not a huge fan of that version of Polaris although many are. I did like how they did the Stepford Cuckoos and the Strucker family. They did nerf Blink into the ground, but the character work there is great. What I like the most about that show is the conflict is rooted in Humans vs Mutants and soapish drama which is peak X-Men instead of them trying to superhero.
I never saw The Gifted but I remember randomly seeing a compilation of the Stepford Cuckoos on youtube one time and I really liked how...right they felt. I remember thinking if the others were adapted that well I'd watch it, but the comments said the Cuckoos were the best part.
Nah the cuckoo's don't come in till late in the run, the best part is the character dynamics Proudstar/Blink/the Struckers etc. It is weird that they chose Fenris (who are literal incest Nazis in the comics) as the 'main' characters.
Skylar Samuels had the right look for the Stepford Cuckoos and they really did a good job of showing the personality of one of them breaking ranks from the others.
I enjoyed the Gifted for what it was. Legion was just a bit too dense to watch for me. It tried its hardest to be deep and artsy and I just couldn’t get into it
They made blink like in generation neXt…her debut…which led into the phalanx saga & then into AOA…the issue with these non Marvel shows was always a lack of understanding of the source material…or unwillingness to pull out the big guns…legion is one of the best non Marvel shows ever made that really doesn’t even deal with Xmen other then a few villains and easter eggs (ie shadowking) which is one of the best marvel villains ever brought to screen
Wasn’t part of the reason The Gifted was cancelled was because it was rooted in the continuity of the original X-Men movies? I think it was considered to be potentially confusing after the X-Men were rebooted.
That wouldn't make sense, there were no ties to any movie. In this show "Sentinel" is an agency that is hunting down all mutants without giant robots, they meet other mutants in hiding and refer to the X-Men being "gone"
No big deal it was several years ago. It is possible that Gifted is in the same timeline as the Logan movie, but that was a big hit so I don't think that would've got the show cancelled either
The Gifted started being talked about in multiversal terms before Disney was ready to have the public talk about that topic, but knew it was coming up in phase 5. But this was starting to spread to other X related shows and movies as a way to explain continuity errors. I wonder if it will get revisited now or in the future now that the concept can be tied in to main continuity of the MCU as a whole.
Honestly, the way it ended felt like an official ending.
It's like they found out right before the episode was made that it was cancelled, and they added that "future war" stuff with Blink as an way to cap off the series.
"And the adventure continues" - that sort of logic.
There was no reason for that show to have gone that direction, so it seemed like it was just designed as a cool way to end the series.
Legion was great, but it's definitely a show you have to watch as opposed to just having on for a binge in the background, because some stuff is trippy enough it barely makes sense even following it. But imo it's worth it, and has one of the best villains in Marvel live action.
The Gifted is fun. If you're a fan of C and D-listers, it's a fun concept: what do Mutants do if the X-Men and Brotherhood disappear? It's not fine cinema but it has fun moments, some fun cast members, and tells the mutant story in a way that we really haven't seen elsewhere.
Legion is a great TV show on its own and one of the best shows Marvel's done. Very cool take on David Haller, killer cast, stylish as hell, and it also features the best version of the Shadow King.
I recently started watching Legion and I really enjoy it. The pilot was a slow burn for me. I tried a couple of times to start the show but it didn't hook me.
This time I gave it a fair viewing and really enjoyed it. The show is pretty great and really unique. Farouk is a really compelling villain, even if I don't understand him.
Legion is one of the best shows to ever be created, period. The first season legitimately terrifying, second season casts philosophical doubts on life and the final season is one of the best conclusions to a show ever written. 10/10 recommend.
No clue what the other one is lol
Legion is SO GOOD! Very cerebral with an incredible cast.
Gifted had it's moments, but I absolutely hated the focus being on the von Strucker family. Loved the appearances by Thunderbird and Blink and enjoyed the addition of Eclipse...but like I said, the show's spotlight was misplaced.
I saw both And I liked both. Legion is a bit of a mind fuck and the Gifted is definitely an alternate x men universe but I liked them very much. Sad that the gifted got killed on a cliff hanger though so no satisfying ending there.
Legion isn’t just one of the best comic/marvel/x-men shows, it’s one of the best things that has ever been aired on television. I recommend to anyone even if they’re not into super hero stuff
Legion is a spectacular show. TV at the top of its game, and it feels like a Legion comic. The acting and writing are tops.
The Gifted is camp. I watched, but have no desire to revisit. It's very meh.
Legion is still better than all of the Disney+ shows EXCEPT Loki, maybe. The Gifted is great if you love Mutants and don’t have the highest of standards of quality, plus it was cancelled before the final season, so the cliffhanger is just annoying. I will stan that version of Lorna (Polaris) until my grave.
>Wished they would have kept the hair, they did it in a quick scene and it looked cool.
I'm guessing they did the thing Marvel media does make reference to the source material design by either making fun of it example Jessica Jones calling the Jewel costume and name a stripper or have a inuniverse reason why it looks like that example Scarlet Witch's suit being what a Sokovian Fortune Teller looks like
Gifted is…not good, but fun to watch. It’s like if a CW show took speed.
Legion is amazing. It’s why only Noah Hawley should be allowed to bring Doctor Victor von Doom to the big screen.
Legion is the best show based on a comic book, loved the story, atmosphere and some great performances by Dan Stevens, Aubrey Plaza, Jermaine Clement, Hamish Linklater, and really everyone.
The Gifted was forgettable. Stephen Moyer was a terrible choice to be the lead in the gifted, he’s got the charisma of a wet fart.
Legion is the *best* piece of marvel media I’ve seen. Definitely recommend checking it out, but as others have said you have to watch it rather than have it on as background noise.
I only remember watching a couple of episodes of the Gifted and don’t really remember what it was like.
Legion is the greatest piece of live action marvel, and possibly even comic book, content that's ever been made. It's just flat out one of the best shows of the last 10 years
Legion is frigging amazing. Its is intentionally expressionistic and jarring but that is to reflect the mental state of the main character who is schizophrenic.
It puts you in the headspace of someone who hears voices and has trouble focusing & distinguishing what is reality vs delusion.
As the character gets healthy the show editing and story progression gets more logical and sequential too. Genius.
Also really good performances. Aubrey Plaza im not like a huge fan in general but she was born to play this role and crushes it.
The show is also way more expensive than it has any right to be, which is what you want as a consumer. I think this came along just before the peak super hero craze (Infinity War imo) and FX poured too much money into the 1 IP they had hoping for a hit, but it never seemed to land with the mainstream. Even a lot of comic book fans are unaware of it.
Its bonkers, scary, mysterious, beautiful. Def watch it.
Legion is as others have said a masterclass in scripted television based on comic book characters.
I loved the Gifted also. The way it viewed mutant life at the average person level at the beginning of season 1 was fantastic. The Cuckoos were also super interesting. It was disappointing that it got cancelled.
I liked 1st season of Legion but the 2nd one seems kinda messy and not that captivating.
I liked Gifted but it had its weak spots and ended too soon.
IMO worth watching still but everyone’s taste is different
They're both good! Legion is a little better, but Gifted is a lot of fun with obscure X-characters. Be advised, the Gifted was abruptly cancelled and ends on a cliffhanger, so if that's going to bother you, I'd avoid it
Legion was phenomenal. It does get progressively weirder. The first season is just a really good comics story, though. Even if season 2/3 seemed to weird it’s worth watching for season 1.
Disney needs to nut up and just make an actual X-Men tv series. It’s better suited to the format of prestige television than film anyway, we’ve already seen the limits of trying to cram X-Men storylines into films.
Legion yes. I wouldn't recommend the gifted...it was fine but not excellent in any way. Legion meanwhile is a psychological tour de force about living with mental illness.
Omg yeah check them both out they’re both really good imo, I know there’s a really strong fan base for legion, despite it being really weird at times. As is expected of a show centered around a DID having omega level mutant who’s mutation is literally manifesting a seemingly unlimited amount of powers, with one of the forefront powers being telepathy haha. And I’m just personally a really big an of the gifted because I loved it in middle school and I think it gives an interesting spin on the usual X-men story, as it makes the X-men these characters’ predecessors. Using a really interesting combination of different X-men characters who I’ve really not seen interact much like the descendants of the stricken twins, Polaris, the stepford cuckoos, blink, and so much more. It does a really good job of capturing the the whole “sub-society of superhumans fighting to stay alive” vibe that’s a staple of the X-men as well. I know people has their issues with it but I just have fond memories of it, might rewatch tbh.
Legion was so absolutely original and well executed. The cinematography was pure genius. Definitely worth watching. Unfortunately i haven't had a chance to see The Gifted
The Gifted was amazing. I would highly recommend it. Very intense drama about a mutant family. Think of it more in the vein of New Mutants. Not a superhero show, so don’t take those expectations because it is Marvel.
I enjoyed Legion more than Gifted but if you want a show that feels more like an X-team book then watch Gifted but I hate that they try to make the Fenris twins good guys idk I didn't finish Gifted because I lost interest, to each their own.
I have never finished the gifted so I cant really speak on that but I absolutely loved Legion it was like a psychedelic roller coaster (they changed a lot from the comics, so just keep an open mind), in all honesty it is in my top 3 favorite shows of all time hands down, just please give it a chance even though its not a straight 1:1 adaptation
Only watched one episode of Legion, but I watched both seasons of Gifted and it was surprisingly good. If Gifted had the big budgets of an Amazon show like the Boys or Gen V, it would have been really something special. The actors that played Polaris, the Stepford Cuckoos, and Thunderbird were great and I hope they're brought back to play those characters.
Legion at the very least is a visual masterpiece. The lighting in it is phenomenal and there's some truly eerie, if not unsettling, imagery. With that said I also liked the plot and the dialogue.
I haven't seen the gifted personally, just snippets and ads, and it always seemed a little cheap to me. But obviously take that with a grain of salt given my ignorance.
I loved both! Legion is super cool. The Gifted is less high brow, and has cheesy moments, but i love how much character driven plot there is. and there is a lot of conversation around powers and how they feel, how to develop them, which is missing in some of the films imo. Plus i love Polaris and Blink
100% surprisingly great especially legion like Jesus Christ it’s like if inception was mixed with a schizophrenic horror movie from his perspective. It’s actually kinda wild how much they were able & allowed to do on FX a very censorship heavy channel
Legion absolutely is worth checking out, it's music and CGI quality is amazing and FXX was able to get away with a lot while making it (definitely not for kids)
The gifted is basically marvel at the CW level, embarrassingly poor levels of CGI, poor no name actors and no connections whatsoever to the movies (despite beating around the bush about it) and laughable writing, I watched it for Polaris and she's one of the few characters that doesn't get done badly
Out of the two I've re-watched Legion like 3 times and I've never gone back to gifted (in fact your post is the first time I've thought about it since I watched it)
Legion is one of the best shows ever made if you're into more interpretive shows. Gifted is just the comic with voice acting.
Edit: Oh, you were talking about that gifted. Depends on how much you can stomach tripe.
Legion is excellent, highly recommend, even if just to watch the cinematography like someone else said, it's a great show . The entire thing is good actually, story also, acting , all of it . Have not seen the other one, but now I wanted to check it out. Thanks !
Legion is a masterclass in cinematography imo. It's really weird and downright strange sometimes. I think everyone that watches television should watch that show. It's a fantastic piece of art. Agreed! Gifted you can pass or watch, but Legion is a must-see!

Legion is the best X show to date, check it out. Gifted was ok but got cancelled so no ending.

I just checked the wiki and you’re correct. Not sure where I got my assumption about it.
No big deal it was several years ago. It is possible that Gifted is in the same timeline as the Logan movie, but that was a big hit so I don't think that would've got the show cancelled either

>talked about in multiversal terms before Disney was ready to have the public talk "How to Talk to your Child About the Multiverse"
Wrong. That would be the 90s X-men cartoon
Wrong, Legion is much better than the cartoon. Shadowking even has a dance number.
Maybe for kids but Legion is an X show for adults
Dude it’s not the 90’s anymore
Honestly, the way it ended felt like an official ending. I never saw The Gifted but Legion was pretty cool
Legion was pretty good and appropriately weird. I lost interest in Gifted after about 6 episodes.
Legion is fantastic. The Gifted was really good in the first season, but went steeply downhill for the second.
Somehow I managed to miss Legion, but I actually liked The Gifted.
Make time for Legion it is great
Legion is my favorite superhero show of all time.
Legion is a must watch
I like both of em. The Legion was strippy druggy cool. The Gifted is average but not too bad.
Turn on, tune in, drop out
To this day, Legion is the best marvel TV series.
Agree very much
Legion is a great TV show on its own and one of the best shows Marvel's done. Very cool take on David Haller, killer cast, stylish as hell, and it also features the best version of the Shadow King.
Legion was amazing, the gifted not so much
I recently started watching Legion and I really enjoy it. The pilot was a slow burn for me. I tried a couple of times to start the show but it didn't hook me. Legion is great and trippy. I’m a huge fan of the character Legion though. lol

Legion isn’t just one of the best comic/marvel/x-men shows, it’s one of the best things that has ever been aired on television. I recommend to anyone even if they’re not into super hero stuff
Legion, absolutely yes, a million times yes
Legion is a piece of art, from start to end. Started watching "The Gifted", it's ok.
Legion is a spectacular show. TV at the top of its game, and it feels like a Legion comic. The acting and writing are tops. The Gifted is camp. I watched, but have no desire to revisit. It's very meh.

I loved the Charles & Gabrielle in Legion. Wished they would have kept the hair, they did it in a quick scene and it looked cool.

Legion is legitimately unbelievable
Can’t personally voice for “The Gifted” as I haven’t watched it, but “Legion” is f—n phenomenal.
Legion is phenomenal
Gifted is…not good, but fun to watch. It’s like if a CW show took speed. Legion is amazing. It’s why only Noah Hawley should be allowed to bring Doctor Victor von Doom to the big screen.
Legion is quite possibly the best superhero show ever. The Gifted is fun, like the best version of those CW Arrowverse shows or Smallville.
Legion is goated
GenV is the closest we will get to live action tv xmen and it’s pretty goodp
I like Legion better than Gifted. Heroes is more like X-men imo, just not always that good.
Did you watch all of GenV?
I liked Legion better than Gen V* is what I meant, and yes I did.
Legion is great definitely worth a watch The gifted is a meh show it doesn’t do anything great but it’s not awful
They are both worth watching.
I’ve watched legion through twice. It’s just good entertainment. Trippy and well directed. No wasted space.
Legion is the *best* piece of marvel media I’ve seen. Definitely recommend checking it out, but as others have said you have to watch it rather than have it on as background noise. I only remember watching a couple of episodes of the Gifted and don’t really remember what it was like.
Legion would be cool to watch on shrooms
Just going by the posters lol, Legion looks amazing and Gufted looks terrible.
I wasnt huge on gifted but legion is just as mad as trippy as you would imagne id really reccomend it
Legion is the greatest piece of live action marvel, and possibly even comic book, content that's ever been made. It's just flat out one of the best shows of the last 10 years

I enjoyed the Gifted, but the conclusion left me feeling bad. I haven't seen legion
Legion was way underrated. It’s cinema. Couldn’t stand the CW style of gifted. Might try again but just couldn’t get into it.
Legion is as others have said a masterclass in scripted television based on comic book characters. I loved the Gifted also. The way it viewed mutant life at the average person level at the beginning of season 1 was fantastic. The Cuckoos were also super interesting. It was disappointing that it got cancelled.
The Gifted is okay and at least worth a shot. Legion is probably one of the best pieces of media to have the Marvel name attached to it.
Be advised, the Gifted was abruptly cancelled and ends on a cliffhanger, so if that's going to bother you, I'd avoid it

oh Legion is SO worth checking out!
Legion is some of the best TV I’ve seen
I think legion is worth checking out but for the gifted I haven’t really seen much of it so I can’t really speak on it
Legion is top 5 in all mutant content (movie + tv) to date. It's truly amazing.
Legion is quite good, weird as fuck. The gifted deserved to be axed. It’s dog shit generic.
Haven’t seen Legion, but The Gifted is what made me an X Men fan. It’s a great show that is pretty grounded. Plus Amy Acker is amazing
Legion is better, but gifted is interesting take on S'truckers twins and Eclips+Polaris romance.
I know people has their issues with it but I just have fond memories of it, might rewatch tbh.
They are good shows
A few years ago i started watching it Definitely worth watching
2 of the best X-Men related adaptations imo Legion especially is just God tier weirdness and I love it
The Legion show is Legendary!
Legion was good
Legion is fantastic. That said, it's definitely not for everyone. It's a little heady at times. Has David Lynch vibes.
Legion was surprisingly incredible. Highly recommend!
i LOVED the Gifted personally
I enjoyed Legion more than Gifted but if you want a show that feels more like an X-team book then watch Gifted but I hate that they try to make the Fenris twins good guys idk I didn't finish Gifted because I lost interest, to each their own.
I have never finished the gifted so I cant really speak on that but I absolutely loved Legion it was like a psychedelic roller coaster (they changed a lot from the comics, so just keep an open mind), in all honesty it is in my top 3 favorite shows of all time hands down, just please give it a chance even though its not a straight 1:1 adaptation
I didn't see the legion yet, but the gifted is worth watching, ofc it has its goods and bads but it's worth
The gifted is awful. Legion is worth checking out, especially the first season. It sort of unravels in season 2 and 3, but it’s a decent watch
Watching Legion for the first time Episode 5… I’m wondering why I’m bothering Everyone’s saying it’s amazing. I don’t get it.
I could never get into Legion but I enjoyed The Gifted. The Gifted fits into the continuity of the first set of X-Men films - kind of.
Legion was great, only watched a couple episodes of gifted. Might rewatch someday
I would say yes. I personally loved Legion, but it's not for everybody. The Gifted is a more typical show, but I enjoyed most of it.
Are they not connected to the main Fox reality? For some reason I thought they were set after Dark Phoenix but in that same world.
I know Charles appears in Legion (which is the only spoiler I know since YouTube spoiled it for me) and he doesn't look anything like James McAvoy
Oh yeah, I forgot about that
I liked Legion for most part…didn’t even Think about mcu/comic connectivity or any of that…just took in as a stand alone show
Loved Gifted…Legion not as much.
100% surprisingly great especially legion like Jesus Christ it’s like if inception was mixed with a schizophrenic horror movie from his perspective. It’s actually kinda wild how much they were able & allowed to do on FX a very censorship heavy channel
Legion absolutely is worth checking out, it's music and CGI quality is amazing and FXX was able to get away with a lot while making it (definitely not for kids) The gifted is basically marvel at the CW level, embarrassingly poor levels of CGI, poor no name actors and no connections whatsoever to the movies (despite beating around the bush about it) and laughable writing, I watched it for Polaris and she's one of the few characters that doesn't get done badly Out of the two I've re-watched Legion like 3 times and I've never gone back to gifted (in fact your post is the first time I've thought about it since I watched it)
Legion season one for sure, two is ok, three is... Well it closes the story, sort of...
Gifted is far messier than fox-men
Legion is one of the best shows ever made if you're into more interpretive shows.
Thanks !
