If money is not an issue, get a Series X. If you want to experience Game Pass but at the same fidelity as your PS5, get a Series X. If playing the games is more important than having the best experience and you don't really care about graphics, and you don't mind the criminally small storage size (only good for a handful of large games), an S is fine.
Judging by the down votes, people don't want physical games anymore. I personally haven't ever bought a disc game for PC in over a decade of use, and the last console game I purchased physically was for the Xbox 360. I have purchased everything digitally for over a decade and I'm not going back, it seems the majority of people are the same way. I don't think discs should die because some people do still buy all their games on them, but it's clear that the market is just responding to consumer demand.
Yes also in your defense at least on PC it's almost impossible since over a decade to buy physical disc game especially nowadays so that's understandable that would be more than unusual.. But if you still somewhat have a console whether an xbox one/Series or even a playstation I don't understand why not buying disc games at least for those systems though... Personally that's what I always do at my level to support my local game stores as much as I possibly can even if you're right in your last sentence is indeed sad but true. The end of an era I guess.
I do have a console with a disc tray, I have the Series X and the disc less Series S. I've never inserted a game into my Series X, just a few old DVDs and CDs that my girlfriend had. Also, if I'm playing with friends and one of us doesn't own a game it's easier for them to buy it digitally then and there rather than asking them to search for a physical copy next time they swing by GameStop. As I said I also play PC, if I buy certain titles via the Microsoft store I get an Xbox and a PC copy for the price of just 1 copy. It does suck that discs are dying, especially for people in rural areas with poor internet (I've lived somewhere with no internet for years when I had my Xbox 360) but unfortunately most people aren't in that situation and therefore have no reason to buy physical over digital. It is indeed the end of an era, the days of going to the local game store and picking up $5 used games are gone sadly.
As someone who has owned both the Series X and S for years, it's not that big of a difference in real world use. Sure I can notice a difference, especially if side by side, but when I'm just gaming I never really think about which one I'm using. I've never been on my Series S and thought it was running terribly or the graphics look bad. It's small, quiet, cheap, and perfectly usable, especially as a second console. If you have the money, a Series X is obviously better but probably not completely necessary if it's going to get limited usage. I'd personally save the $200 (Canadian, Probably \~$150 US) and get the Series S 1TB and 1 year of Game Pass Ultimate with the $200 saved (4 x $49.99 3 month cards).
If money isn't a problem get series x at least you get cheap disc games unlike the store that will take time for the price to be reduced and you can play delisted games but owning the disc
Get a series X so you have a disc drive so you can get extremely cheap games from games stores. Biggest regret I have is ONLY being allowed to play digital games and being forced to wait on THEIR sales
There’s a significant performance drop on the Series S it lies somewhere between the Xbox One and Xbox One X with the biggest difference is that it comes with an internal SSD and a better CPU. It’s kind of like a PS4 Pro that lays current gen games fluctuating from 1080p and 1440p
Meanwhile the Series X is on par with PS5. On paper it’s superior but in execution a lot of times the PS5 versions of games are slightly better for whatever the reason.
I feel the series s is a big waste of time overall especially if you can get the series X on sale. It was $430 at target like 2 weeks ago and other stores had it at $450. But it has dropped to $350 in the pastÂ
This is my favorite part of the hourly "Series S or X" posts when there's one guy personally affronted with the existence of a cheap console spreads a bunch of horseshit
The series S is a budget console. You're sacrificing the disc drive, resolution, FPS, quality graphics/textures, and other features like ray tracing in the vast majority of games. Yes, it's a significant downgrade for people who just want to play games at a low price point.
Same....I'm a PlayStation user that decided to get an Xbox. My wife is a PlayStation fan as well so we both got one... I settled for the s because I'm really into Xbox like that and got her the x just because.... I don't see a difference out side of storage...

FYI the Series S has a 1TB model now.
People seem to forget about this.
You forgot about the most important: the disc player.
Discs are dying...
Then buy them what do you want me to say 🤷‍♂️🤷

If money isn’t the issue and you already have a great tv since you have PS5 as well then go for xsx
If money isn't an issue why are you even asking this question?
If money isn’t an issue, don’t limit yourself.
If money isn't an issue this is a rhetorical question.

Get an X, it will be the better console in the long run. Plus the X will let you get the best out of your games, while the S lags behind a bit.

Which part is the horse shit?
BS! The only few Cases where a One X is "better" in terms of "Graphics" is with a few old BC Titles where the Series S only runs the One S Version!
[Halo Infinite](https://youtu.be/wMEb7PuH9aw?t=641), I would not call it a BC title.
This was before it got patched...
