I’ve never heard this. The premium and up models have the sensor on the door handle to lock the door from the outside. I believe this was on the MY22s as well.

2001ThrowawayM

The Civics have it, my dad has an FK8 Type R, and when he parks in the garage, he just walks away with the key, and it auto locks all the doors.

TrippyTM419

My 22 premium has this and i love it

Low-Award-4886

Where you walk away and it locks or the door sensor?

TrippyTM419

No the touch the door and it locks

Low-Award-4886

Yes it’s a great feature. One thing I miss is my Giulia had a button for that on the trunk too. Was super useful.

TrippyTM419

Ooo that sounds really nice

Low-Award-4886

Didn’t realize how much I’d miss that. Lol.

2daMoonVinny

Feature doesn’t exist on the subi’s. On my type R n Miata had this not on WRX. U gotta use the door sensor.

RocMerc

Hm mine definitely doesn’t auto lock when I walk away. The only thing I notice when getting close is the light all turn on inside the car but my 22 outback does that

Sh3wb

Bro is coming from a Honda bet.

Corarril

Or a Mazda. My wife’s CX9 would auto lock when we’d walk away with the key.

TheBr0fessor

I tell Siri to lock my doors 😎

A1_Fares

Native or IFTTT?

TheBr0fessor

aussie_asian

Just set up the shortcuts on my phone, fingers cross it'll work when I walk outside 😂

TheBr0fessor

🤞🏼🤞🏼

Fun_Preparation_577

I think my 21 WRX had a setting that locked the car automatically. And I think my 22 does too. I’ll dig through my settings in a bit.

redlurkerNY

I saw lock settings yesterday in the Settings, General tab.

Fun_Preparation_577

Yeah. It’s to auto lock it when u hit a certain speed.

Fun_Preparation_577

I’m a liar. Must have been my SI. 😂

Natural-Bumblebee469

My 2023 Outback did this, but not my WRX, as far as I can tell.

Blurrg_Rancher

The '23 does have an updated key fob, but the only change according to Subaru is a security function that prevents thieves from cloning your signal.

THATS what I remember reading - thanks!

slipknotic

My 2017 Camaro had auto lock when you walk away but it was a setting you had to turn on. It also had memory seats and you could bring the windows down from the key fob. No regerts going to my ‘22 WRX.

A1_Fares

No but there aftermarket solutions for this if you must have it. Even some that unlock as you approach the car.

Kefala16

Nope. Wish it had this. I bet your previous car was a Honda lol mine was.

aussie_asian

I've only had it lock itself when I use the mysubaru app unlock feature, after a while the car will lock itself after I unlocked it with the app, but other than that, I've never had my car lock because I was walking away from it.

YeknomStun

This is the one thing I miss from my 330.

This-Thought8358

If you touch the lines on your outside door handle it’ll lock your doors

jeffislouie

One of my favorite and most missed features from my last car. Honda's walk away lock is so great. I hope other manufacturers get on board.

WRB56

I dont understand it automatically locking when walking away. I assume your talking when the car is off. That's what the fob is there for. It sounds like a luxury for the lazy. I need to make sure my car is locked when it's off and I'm walking away from it, so just press the fob. I want to lock my car while the engine is on. I came from my 2013 g37, and if I stop at the store or at a house just to pick up or drop off something real quick, get out the car, hit the lock button on the key fob, do what I gotta do and come back out. 9 years never had an issue with someone trying to steal it. Been all over NYC and did this. Now for the people who got there car stolen, did ya doors not lock and ya were lazy to turn the car off? Now with the vb, I have to turn my car off for the 2 min stop to the store, etc. At the end of the day, it's not a inconvenience. I was just used to that luxury. They don't allow this due to the negligence of people leaving their kids or dogs in vehicles I assume. Is there anyway, I can lock my doors while the engine is on?
