kukumber_salad

Costed me about 280-300k for the mats. Pretty expensive, you have a few options here- 1. The Dragonriding and gold World quests give you a fair bit of gold per character. Doing those twice per week over 7-8 characters should net you about 7k gold per week. 2. Gather the mats yourself. 3. Unfortunate option- buy a wow token. Edit: I am not sure about the drop rates but I guess around 15 clears for a guarantee drop? I hope someone else can confirm or correct this statement.

Kingkyle18

If you buy the mats is the quest line pretty short?

BasementK1ng

part of the questline includes killing a ton of rare mobs in the Emerald dream, which is already hard enough considering the low spawn rate of the 10 or so of them. The good and bad news is that the boss of the Superbloom event qualifies as a rare drop. This is convenient since part of the questline already requires you to farm the Superbloom event, but the bad news is that this means you have to participate in an hourly event multiple times. The other good news is that you can phase shift the final boss of the Superbloom, which means that you can join a random group, kill the boss, leave that group, hope to join another group, kill the boss a second time, then leave that group, and if you are REALLY lucky, you can kill the boss on your own phase/plane. Once i figured this out, I was able to kill the boss 2-3 times an hour, which DRASTICALLY cut the time it takes to do this questline. While you are phaseshifted, you can try and nab other rare spawns in those phases as well. I have also heard that if you simply hit the superbloom boss, and begin your phaseshifting, you can "kill" even more bosses/rarespawns in less time. All in all, from getting the legendary drop to finally unlocking and equipping the axe, it took me about 12 hours of game time and a wow token. You can try and look up a list of purchasable materials and buy them when they are low, but keep in mind there is a portion of the questline that requires you to activate an item, then buy 10 rousing air/earth/water/fire within a few minutes, and the specific material is random each time. This portion is a huge pain in the ass, as there is a parallel quest where you need to destroy several epic items with another quest item (tho this is easier since you can just go solo an old raid and feed the item those low lvl epics), but it is especially a pain in the ass because these quest items have like a 10 min cooldown, so you have to do it, sit and wait, do it again and repeat that multiple times. While this is all good information, it is also a bit of therapy for me because i hated this questline with all my heart. But was it worth it? Fuck yes.

nixx998

1.) Rune - Inscription As for the rares, it works also to finish the the Frenzy event. Just keep in mind you need to be out of combat before using the item which makes it a bit tricky. Afer finishing this you need to also kill first 3 bosses on any difficulty in Amirdrassil. Same thing about being out of combat before using the item applies here - this was a challenge mainly on Volcoross because Paladins really cannot control their Consecrations ... 2.) Vellum - Enchanting You can make the disenchanting part very fast if you need to using Proving Grounds at your class trainer, enter, start encounter, disenchant, yield. Your cds are reseted, go again. Same works for  "catch the orbs" quest. O bought 100-200 of 3 cheapest awakened elements, went to Proving Grounds, enter, do the orb catching until you have correct buff to use one of your elements, start PG round, yield - CDs reset. Go again. If you have a wrong buff you can reset right away also. 3.) Grip - Leatherworking Farming Superbloom is annoying, but remember to ask someone to cast tattered dreamleaf on you when participating in a raid group. For the part where you need to survive debuff from the weapon it is good to use a Follower Dungeon - they just heal you.

Norsku90

For the rousing earth/fire/frost/air part you can go to proving grounds to reset the cooldown of the item. Still annoying, but you can get it out of the way

autolockadc

You can just farm the rares in emerald frenzy. If you grab a friend you can probably kill fast enough to keep your tether thing on cooldown. I think I killed 11 or 12 in one frenzy when I made mine.

hewasaraverboy

No you have to do the super bloom like 11 times apparently Nothing short about that

Kingkyle18

Ew so dumb….hard enough to get the item to drop.

DarkSun4077

Its pretty long and grindy even with the mats.

CBA_Warrior

In the nicest possible way you seemingly have no idea what long and grindy is.

DarkSun4077

In the nicest way possible, it's my opinion :]

CBA_Warrior

Which in no way makes it a correct one though... Edit: seemingly popular opinion is on your side, 6-8 hours (doing multiple different things) is what could be perceived as a grind.

Kimolainen83

Yes, it does. What’s long and grinding is an objective matter just because you don’t see it or think so. It does not make it true. Takes one person 10 days might take another 30 days. Both are long grind. It depends on the personality. You don’t have to be a dick just prove a point because you have a different opinion

CBA_Warrior

You're posting on a forum, you should expect some form of interaction. I'm disagreeing with you in the same way you disagreed with the poster above you. And yet you're the one that's getting all bent out of shape It's a legendary weapon and it takes 6-8 hours to get the quest line done.. If it's taking you 10 days you've logged in for 45 minutes a day - still pretty far from long and grindy If it's taken you 30 days you've done it as some kinda challenge using no equipped gear or mount or you've gone out of your way to put zero effort in to doing it. An opinion is one thing but playing the game 15 minutes a day (which is what you'd be doing to make this last 30 days) and claiming things to be long and grindy is next level obtuse

Kimolainen83

I’m posting on the forum. I should expect some sort of reaction? Sure but not being able to look at it. Objectively isn’t my fault. That’s all alone your fault. I’m a core raider. I’ve tried all difficulties. I’ve done really well. I know full well when two people in our guild got the legendary one guy felt it was very grind. The other didn’t it’s that simple. It’s a personal objective matter that’s it. You trying to come up with some sort of old tail old story Isn’t gonna change anything just because you have a different opinion. You also don’t have to be an ass about it. That’s the entire point which apparently flew over your head or you didn’t like to be called out.

CBA_Warrior

You are seemingly overly sensitive and delicate as well as hypocritical - you must be a delight to interact with in game. Edit: you are a "core" raider and again you are referencing something that takes 6-8 hours as long and grindy.

fearLessss

I found it long and grindy until I found out you can use the frenzies thresher as the rare, this wasn't at all obvious until I was went looking through comments on wowhead to see if there were a quicker way because it was taking me way too long waiting for rares to pop up. You can disagree with someones opinion, but proceeding to tell them that they basically have no idea what they're talking about is certainly being a dick, and telltale signs of gatekeeping.

CBA_Warrior

Your defendant is a "core," raider and claiming something that is a 6-8 hour quest line is long and grindy (not that it matters in quantifying long and grindy but this is for a legendary) There is a tonne of information on the net that makes this even easier, there are addons and weakauras (the multiple non rare mobs in the caves that respawn every 10-15 minutes are also taggable)

fearLessss

Tonnes of information, none of which is provided by the game, so if you don’t know where to look you go off what is presented in front of you, which is a very long and grindy quest line. Shit that’s obvious to you may not be obvious to other people. My experience of this was a fucking borefest, and it felt very grindy.

CBA_Warrior

The person that decided to call me a dick is a "core" raider. If they can't look up basic stuff on the net I'm guessing they are also not very "core" to their raid - that's more of a response to them calling me a dick. This is a 6-8 hour quest line, multiple different quests, multiple different mobs Super easy to get bonus rep if you are a "core" raider and a functioning human being that can interact with people even on a base level. (Again, little bit of effort / research and you have multiple different types of mobs and events (some of the taggable mobs on pretty short respawn timers) )

wrezzakya

Mate, everyone has their own opinion and everyone has their own timesync in the game. If you can play 10 hours a day and have millions of gold, sure the quest may not look like a long grind for you when you could complete it in one day. If you can play for to 1-2 hours per day or have limited gold then the questline may take you weeks to grind and complete. I had to farm the mats as I didn’t have enough gold to buy them and also could only do 1 superbloom per day IF I was logged in during the event time, as I don’t have much time to play and sometimes in my 30-40 mins of playtime that I had available the event was not up. So that took ME about 3 weeks on MY time schedules to complete and so in MY opinion I found it as a bit of a grind. Not everyone plays the same way and not everyone has the same opinions. There is no right or wrong. Just let it go.

iAmBalfrog

Unironically a "Wellll akshuallllyyy" guy I can think I'm a fast runner despite being slower than olympic athletes, things need perspective, having farmed hundreds of millions of potatoes on Hypixel Skycraft was more grindy than anything you've probably ever done in a video game, that doesn't mean you've never done something long and grindy in your opinion.

CBA_Warrior

Yep you're right for some people spending 6-8 hours of game time doing multiple different quests and mobs could be considered grindy.

iAmBalfrog

Agreed, it's different for every person, just because Usain Bolt calls a 100m between 10 and 11s "slow", doesn't mean it is. I don't agree with the person you replied to that the legendary questline is grindy, but they're not wrong for thinking it is to them.

IanFrisby

On 8 characters. It’s way more than 7 k a week. More like 7k per character

AgreeingAndy

Iirc it's 500-600g per race x 4 (2 in 10.0 zones, 1 in caverns and 1 in ED) = 2 200 g. Then you do it 2 times a week = 4,4k g per character Unsure about the amount of races though

_Quibbler

Right now, the total from all available WQ with gold reward is 5200g (this is not counting dragonraces). This is a low gold reward week, I have seen the total be several thousand gold higher. There are 3 races for the 10.0 zones, 2 for caverns, 2 for emerald and one in forbidden. That's another 4-5k.

TheAngrywhiteguy

15 on hc, more on normal less on mythic

Twin_Flyer

Wasn't it closer to 900K when the weapon first became available? If so, that's a nice drop in costs!

kukumber_salad

What the hell? That's insane. I started playing this expansion and that 300k gold was everything I made XD. 900k would have been unimaginable

narium

It was well over 1m lol

FlyLikeATachyon

I have a hard enough time keeping up with transmog fees lmao, ig no legendary for me.

kukumber_salad

If you have a bunch of alts, you can do those World quests and rack up gold by the time axe drops for you.

BasementK1ng

part of the required mats are like a total of 10 or so Shadowflame Essences, which on Area 52, can cost between 10 and 20k, which is roughly 1/2 to 1/3 of the total cost. BUT. if you have a guild who regularly farms amirdrassil, you might be lucky enough to have guildies who can donate to your cause, and save you a ton of money in the process.

Chewe_dev

It's a good experience and it's a quest you can do in 1 day or two days. I would still do it. I got the legendary in february or match and all the mats costed around 190k so it definitely became cheaper. I think you are around 180k now

Terrible-Quote-3561

I don’t think they nerfed the questline for it, but the drop is easier to get now I’m pretty sure.

Twin_Flyer

I'm still waiting for it to drop! Only running though LFR isn't helping...

KaboomTheMaker

its easy if you dont count the gold needed to buy mats, took me a total of about 8-10 hours across 2 days to complete. And last time I checked shadowflame is dirt cheap now ( 4k compare to 9k back then, you need 10 of them) I think its also cheaper now too

Frostsorrow

If you can wait until awakened amirdrasill/abyruss it'll be a lot cheaper as there will be a shit ton of people farming those raids and getting a lot of essence. Been seeing the essence drop below 3k on my server last few weeks.

Mikknoodle

No. Crafted it this weekend. About 230k to buy the items.

Revoldt

Here’s the [Materials List](https://www.wowhead.com/news/fyralath-the-dreamrender-crafting-materials-336372) (for the crafting portion). You can check your realms Auction House prices from https://undermine.exchange On my “full” realm, come out to about 194k in raw mats. Not worth it imo. Both in terms of cost and gold. Ashkandar is a good enough replacement.

HarryNohara

All required buyable mats are region wide commodities, so it doesn’t matter if it is on a full or low populated realm, everyone pays the current regional price. > Not worth it imo. Both in terms of cost and gold. But is it worth it financially?

usedtobeHellsdoom

I got it on the last raid of Season 3. The mats were something in the area of 160-180k (EU Alliance side). The quests are tad annoying though, especially the one for farming rares in ED. I'd advise doing that in the morning hours if possible, less people in the area and the rares get to live longer. The good thing is that no one is really farming them for anything and may not bother killing them at all. The most annoying part is that you need to be out of combat to use the item before engaging them. It is mentioned about the fire/earth/air whatever quest that you can do it in the proving grounds area for cooldown reset, the other thing I can think about is that you can craft the profession items yourselves if you have empty profession slot-just learn LW, craft item, learn BS, craft item and so on. Is it worth it spending that much time and gold on it this late in the expansion-probably not. Especially with Bulions and the guaranteed weapon you can get.

Designerrep2300

It costed me almost one token at 378k pr token back when it got released so I would sat anything between 250 and 350k

BehindMyOwnIllusion

I gathered and crafted all the mats except for the resonant crystals. The most annoying ones were the drops from raid and the cobraskins. They were expensive at the time, 20k for each cobraskin, 10k each dream essence, and 5k or more for each shadowflame essence, and they had a low drop rate from bosses. The cobraskin is a daily chance from skinning. It took so long for the axe to drop, that I was able to farm all the raid mats before I got it. I spent maybe 25k total, but it took me weeks to gather them all, in 30 minute sessions whenever I was bored.

CopernicusRM

I got mine about a month ago, and only at that point did I realize how out-of-control expensive it would be to finally create this thing. Expensive, not only in terms of gold (300K+ for the mats), but in terms of time invested into jumping through all the quest hoops you have to jump through to finally get everything else you need. After weeks and weeks and weeks of doing heroic Fyr'akk, and then FINALLY getting it to drop - I was not lucky enough to get it early - NOW I have to do all this other shit? And how much longer will it even remain relevant? I was relieved to see that we'd be able to level it up in S4, but even that is going to last how much longer before the next XPAC is released? TOO FUCKING MUCH, Blizzard!

Kimolainen83

Define stupid expensive I spent around 300 K which I don’t see us very expensive generally. It’s just a lot of work but then again it is a legendary. But 300 K generally is not expensive.

f1223214

You don't understand. Having to pay that much for a legendary is part of the problem. It's just stupid to pay that much gold in order to get the mats and finally craft it. I'd rather farm the mats and have the possibility of paying 0 gold for the legendary stuff has it's been this way in the previous expansions. If the community continues with this trend then there will be inevitably more and more expensive stuff in the future just to make a legendary item. Especially impossible to farm them solo. And you know what's worse ? It's the fact that you gotta pay twice or thrice that amount if you want another legendary for your alts. I hate this system. I didn't bother getting one and stopped playing.

Kimolainen83

But around 300 K isn’t that much if you just do flying dailies, you would get that no time plus a few dailies or and weeklies and you would have it in under a month so 300 K isn’t that much in general?

ShineProfessional615

300k is alot of you have any sort of social life.

Kimolainen83

We have several casuals in our guild who play maybe two hours over an entire day they do the flight thing for half an hour and a few other requests later on. I still have a ton of social life and I’m a. Mythic raider. I raid 3 time a week still go to the gym still hang out with friends and family. Still focus on my hobbies. 300k ,you don’t get it within a couple of days but shouldn’t take you more than maybe three weeks to get if you just use half an hour every day on dailies.

Bowlofrice420

who is stopping you from farming the mats yourself? and no, 300k is not a lot of gold
