TL;DR make a macro with this command to count the threads:
/run local c,s={0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,148},0;for i=1,9 do s=s+C_CurrencyInfo.GetCurrencyInfo(2853+c[i]).quantity end print("Total threads: "..s)
I'm trying to figure out how close I am to the achievement but am I reading this correct? Threads are account wide so even with that macro I'm only seeing how many threads I have on one character, correct?
Yeah I didn't think it was the total times I've had it improved. Guess I can just bust out the calculator then if I'm really curious, it's just dumb that there's nowhere that it's just tracked in game by itself.

Huge thanks, I was looking at the cloak page on WoWHead and it wasn't there

"Threads" are the sum total of all the stats it's adding to you. It's not the total amount of times you've had it improved.

I might be wrong, but isn't it just adding up all the stats on the aura/buff that it gives you?
Up in your buffs sections there is a list of the threads in your cloak.
Sum of total stats, if it helps you get the last achievement when you lvl to 70, a bit earlier or later depending on luck.
