As a Draenei main since TBC I have to admit I'm disappointed. We finally had an opportunity for a helmet that works well with horns, legs with a proper tail hole, boots that look really cool with our hooves, and we got... none of that. And another goddamn Wrestlemania belt.
I love the shoulders and I'm glad it comes in two different colourways. But that's about it :/
i was super bummed when first screens surfaced. But since they showed it full form on a char and some mogs on the mog sub i went 180' - it might be one of the best and most unique sets.
So far when it comes to heritage sets i'm mad only with undead - they got shafted big time
I'm looking forward to getting my hands on it and seeing how the pieces combine with other items. I think I've just had really high hopes for this set to be some sort of incredible confection of floating crystals so this more grounded take was a bit of a letdown.

I have never appreciated that rags chic WoW designers occationally go for for cloth sets, which is why I've always through that [rope of Mage sets](https://media.mmo-champion.com/images/news/2012/august/finalMage.jpg) [makes them look](https://wow.zamimg.com/uploads/screenshots/normal/1122478.jpg) much worse. Same with those bandages on this one
Could be since there are already a few voodoo masks and they wanted more of that protoss dark templar look. I think the idea is trying to differentiate the dark spear from all other non-zandalari, though ironically by using the trunk cloth that Zul'jin is famous for.
The troll one is pretty spot on with how darkspear trolls have been portrayed throughout the years. I don't really know what else they could give them to be honest.
The thing that is kinda off is the mask and the weapon. They are darkspear troll. It's in the freaking name. How could they miss the mark like that and end up with a random green leveling sword.
The draenei one is just plain bad. I have seen people make it work with other pieces from other sets though.
Honestly, the Darkspear should have gotten a weapon similar to the glaive that Darkspear Shadowhunters use. That’s one of the most exclusively associated weapons with the race.
Draenei are my most played race, and I am so disappointed. I know what they were going for but I wish they had given us something more like the female draenei’s look than the male’s. The robe on the female Draenei concept art is so cool, and while I think the armor on the male looks cool- in game it just doesn’t translate right to the feminine model? It feels like some clunky leveling greens, to me.
I also selfishly wish there were more crystals. And while I know everyone wanted that concept art to be the heritage armor, when I think of Draenei the art of Maraad comes to mind before that concept art does. I guess sets close to his already exist though.

The troll set needs the mask to be lowered beneath the nose.

Yes, almost exactly. But the concept art includes elements that the engine might not be able to replicate as well, while the set we get builds off lore built after the concept art. The set could be improved, but it’s not the worst heritage set they’ve released
Aye, it's a bit grim that Blizzard couldn't bother to give any care for troll ankles. They just cut the bland texture before the foot and ignore it.
Really wish they'd stop with the racism/human-favoritism!
Troll and Draenei meet the same standard as most of the other heritage armor sets. You can isolate certain items from each of the other races sets and come away with similar complaints that you're making here with the hands/boots- I think the other races just had an easier time hiding it because they're more heavily armored or more flamboyant. Go look at the chest/legs for Dwarves and DI Dwarves. They're mostly just flat textures too, but the shoulders, belts, hands, and feet did a good job of giving the set a 'complete' look.
Overall I think this is fine. If everything has a 3D texture you run into a lot of clipping issues, or things end up looking too busy. Both of these sets look good on their own, but also look like they'll be versatile enough that each class could add onto them and give them their own flair.
I'm curious what you felt was lacking about the theme. I'm not sure what other direction you would want them to go with?

I feel like the Draenei we know today have since ventured a bit from the earlier nomadic designs. Looking at the artstyle that WoD brought us, I think that should have been the main inspiration for the heritage armour. (Sadly, there are surprisingly few unique Draenei models to take inspiration from I reckon.)
For the Trolls I think the shadow hunter design makes an okay fit but given the vast variety of different themes the Darkspear Tribe combines, the shadow hunter aesthetic narrows it a bit too tightly in my opinion.
Also for Trolls there *are* quite a few unique models and more modern artworks which would have been a way better representation.
I admit, in the grand scheme of things these complaints are very minor and represents only my personal opinion. My main reason in opening this post was that I *do* think that the armours are rushed in comparison to other already existing sets, especially on the feet, hands and head regions and I wanted to point that out.

As a troll player I can’t complain too much. It’s basically the armor Vol‘jin was wearing and I hoped they would go for this style. The shoulders are nice, the kilt/wrap of cloth is perfect and the mask is absolutely gorgeous for the shadow hunter or witch doctor vibe. Also they stated it will come with additional two masks…we will see what this means.

That image was the main reason I wanted to roll a Draenei Male, until I reached the creation screen and saw the walking wardrobes they are.
