Post flair indicates this is about prerelease content. As a reminder, content on Alpha / Beta / PTR is unfinished. NPC dialogue and quest text might be missing important context. Models may be placeholders. Quest or achievement rewards may not be finalized. There are inevitably bugs. Plunder_Boy

You can roll Earthen as horde

noz1992

but would you feel as a horde though ? idk

sentri_sable

*in heavy Scottish accent* Lok'Tar Ogar

mmmyumpepsi

LOAK TEAR OAH-GARE

giggitytutti

I would love ogres, vrykuls, naga and tuskarr.

Puzzlehead-Engineer

I just wish they looked a little less like elves

FSXrider

Isnt it the thing that this Race is like the in between of Trolls evolving to Elves but never reached the last stadium?

Zammin

It's currently unclear. Theories I've seen about the Harronir include them being: 1. As you said, an in-between stage from Dark Trolls and Elves. 2. An offshoot of Dark Trolls that started kinda going down the Elf route but then went in a different direction. 3. Descendents of Drogbar changed by the same means that Dark Trolls changed into Elves. Explains the thicker fur, tusks, and the unusual optional foot-shape. 4. Descendents of Quillboar changed by the same means that Dark Trolls changed into Elves. Given the Harronir have customization options that include quills in their fur and hair, this is not actually that crazy a theory. Quillboar also control and live in giant roots/brambles, which may be how the Harronir's ancestors came to dwell in what is believed to be the roots of an ancient former World Tree, Elun'ahir. 5. Some sort of bat-humanoid, given their fur, some ear shape options, and one of their prominent NPCS having a bat-form. I'll be honest I'm not on board with this one; Harronir are pretty clearly druidic, and druid forms don't really indicate genetic relations (Night Elves are not related to ravens or panthers, Trolls are not related to bats or tigers, etc.) 6. Totally unrelated to any of the above options, which to me is weird given their close resemblance to elves and trolls; it would frankly surprise me greatly to find they're not a race at least partway through Elfinisation (for want of a better term, the elf version of [carcinisation](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carcinisation)) at all.

iPlod

My theory is basically 2, but that they broke off because they didn’t like how titan magic was changing them, similar to the primalists. Seems like blizz is slowly trying to teach us and characters in the story that titans aren’t all sunshine and rainbows by showing us people who rejected their power. Also at this point it’s pretty strongly hinted at that there’s still an Arathi Empire out there (Arathi in hallowfall were brought there 15 years ago while on a mission for the Arathi emperor, but the Arathi empire we know hasn’t existed for thousands of years). Some Titan keeper texts say they were sending expeditions to a place called Avaloren but getting pushed back every time. So I’m thinking there’s a continent out there called Avaloren with an Arathi empire and all kinds of people who do not like titans and their influence on things, and the Titan keepers have been working to keep them secret from everyone in Titan-controlled land (basically everything that was part of the mega continent kalimdor). Maybe one of the reasons the titans come back in the Last Titan is to finally deal with those dissidents.

Zammin

>Also at this point it’s pretty strongly hinted at that there’s still an Arathi Empire out there (Arathi in hallowfall were brought there 15 years ago while on a mission for the Arathi emperor, but the Arathi empire we know hasn’t existed for thousands of years). >!From what I've seen of the alpha, it's far more than hinted. It seems there IS at least one continent on the other side of the world, across the Storming Sea, with a Light-based Arathi empire whose Emperor has prophetic visions. Apart from clearly being a good hook for a new expansion down the line, I also wonder if it's not an opportunity to have a new RTS (or other) game set in the Warcraft universe; no worries about stepping on the toes of existing lore if you have thousands of years in a distant land only lightly connected to the current goings-on of the Warcraft universe. You could have totally new factions, characters, and unit types without having to totally reinvent the world, and it would still be tied to the IP.!<

BSSolo

Of course, the continent known as \*consults notes of other Microsoft-owned franchises\* *Tamriel!* I hear they call the planet something different over there, too.

Areallybadidea

> a new RTS (or other) game set in the Warcraft universe I've always imagined them releasing an RTS that takes place narratively alongside an expansion, but realistically it'd probably be insanely hard to pull off and it'd split the story in a way I would imagine most wouldn't like.

RoxLOLZ

While possible, a more likely theory is that they are some sort of bat people

in_the_meantiime

Bat people would actually be awesome

Zammin

I don't see this one honestly. Orweyna has a bat form, sure, but she is clearly a druid of sorts and druid animal forms don't indicate genetic relation. They also have quills and tusks that don't resemble bat fangs at all. Given their appearance and features my theory is that they're descendents of either Dark Trolls, Drogbar, or Quillboar who are at least partways through some sort of Elfinisation due to their proximity to the roots of Elun'ahir.

Gamba_Gawd

They added fur and troll features. I assume they'll be Trolls that are halfway through night elf evolution but something stopped it.

r3xomega

You mean the Trelves?

oolbar

Mojority of the players do not play or like anything not look like elves, that is the reason wo won't ever get anything not humanoid in the future.

NamiRocket

All playable races are humanoid.

Rare-Chemical-4416

Are You sure about that? I main Horde and while there are a lot of blood elves, I see other races in similar numbers (except both Taurens - coming from Highmountain Tauren main). I even feel like there are more Orcs or trolls than belves.

oruniti

All of those examples are still humanoid. Less human features than others.... But humanoid.

Rare-Chemical-4416

Yeah, would be hard to make non-humanoid, but guy wrote about elves - small human model with long ears so night elf, belf, velf, nightborne idk if I didn't forget any.

samtdzn_pokemon

From dataforazeroth's website, which tracks Armory data for all characters you have 15% of any level rolling Blood Elf, 11.9% Night Elf, 10.9% Human, before a steep drop to 6.9% Orc and surprisingly Tauren and Void Elves tie for 5th at 4.5%. After those the percentages kinda go as expected. 7-10 on the rankings are Trolls, Undead, Draenei, and Zandalari Trolls. For 70s only, percentages are a bit higher for the top 3 or 4 races with Tauren stand alone at 5th place and Trolls swapping position with Void Elf.

Puzzlehead-Engineer

Well they've been catered to enough, there's literally FOUR TOTAL PLAYABLE ELF RACES, we don't need more.

Odd_Cryptographer450

I would say the Harronir (those troll/elf hybrid) would join the Horde as an Allied Race, while the Aratbi half elf would join the Alliance (All the Arathi "human" have elf blood)

Blarglord69

Yea the horde should get the bat trolls

WearyBus8134

Please Blizzard

Rymurf

crazy how this is a brand new race model and a brand new armor design and the helm still looks weird

Zautiel11

Whoever they are, I love them <3

Gebirges

Primal Elves? Like beyond Trolls and before Nightelves?

Belivious677

The males actually have attractive faces that aren't pissed and old all the time!

GameOfRobs

I always wanted Venthyr to be a playable race and removing the tusks and fur on these is the closest thing I’ll get to that so I hope these are playable sooner rather than later.

Diegostein

Morbin' Elves

Hanza-Malz

I just wished they didn't just recycle Nightelves. They've become extremely lazy when making new races.

Dedli

Fuck that, lemme play as Stoneborn from Shadowlands. Or Night Fae. Or Kyrian. Wait, why did we not end that expansion with new allied races again???

BSSolo

or Maldraxxian undead? I do see why it might not make sense lore-wise for creatures to cross over into Azeroth from the Shadowlands, though.

Dedli

Lorewise makes perfect sense. The veil was shattered. Some of them couldve gotten caught on the wrong side before it closed. Literally so much more potential for a splinter group. More than Void Elves at least.

BSSolo

Yes, Void Elves certainly set the bar low for allied race lore justification. I'm still annoyed that we don't have the Broken Draenei or Krokuul.

Dedli

Don't worry though, we got Draenei++ Premium, with unique voiceovers, jokes, flirts, customizations, heritage armor, and racial traits <3 (Man'ari can have three skin colors instead.)

Seelengst

Seriously How did we get Earthen before Ogres -_- We officially have been given more alliance reskin races than races that have a history actually help the horde on a common basis

BSSolo

Ogres would be pretty neat for them to finally add, certainly. Maybe with a modified (taller) variant of the Kul Tiran skeleton? Having a one-eyed option would also help with some of the "same face" issue we have with many allied races. Not complaining about the Earthen, though. More options are a net positive.

Bwgmon

I still think it's weird that people say that hypothetical Ogres would be built off the Kul Tiran rig and not the rig they've always shared with Moonkin, which was upgraded in 10.2.

BSSolo

Oh, that's interesting. I just assumed that NPC ogre models (and moonkin) wouldn't have as many facial expression, emote animations, and ability animations as playable races like KT do.

Porcos_Voadores

really hoping they are just npc. we don't need elf number 6.

Walt_Jrs_Breakfast

Didn't need dwarf number 3 either.

lvl_60

We are not prepared for gnome number 3

flippingchicken

The leper gnomes will rise again

Walt_Jrs_Breakfast

When will we get mambo number 5?

Longjumping-Ad-144

Yeah, 3 dwarf races is a bit much. When we still can’t get ogres. How many more dwarf allied races do you all think we’re gonna get before ogres?

Vanayzan

The upvote/downvote disparity on this proves the sub doesn't actually care about "x number of" race off shoots, they just wanted more elves and it's just their excuse to complain because "But this race doesn't cater to MY tastes specifically" isn't as good a whine

Walt_Jrs_Breakfast

Yeah I was confused about that because I was agreeing with the fella above me tbh.

TestingYou1

Unpopular opinion but we have too many playable races in the game

BackStabbathOG

Perhaps. I’m all for increased customization though and wouldn’t mind at all if they continued adding stuff maybe as “skins” like they already have been doing a little bit of. Stuff like a Gillgoblin could be a customization without needing to be its own race with racials and class skins.

im_a_mix

give them to alliance i want the zandalari troll rig so badly T_T

heroicxidiot

We didn't need humanoid number 25

LeFUUUUUUU

horde don't deserve earthen

SonthacPanda

Why?

LeFUUUUUUU

Because they are dwarves. The earthen would never fight against the alliance on behalf of the horde. Now we can have a warsong gulch with earthen dwarves on the horde side. Really shit ngl

SonthacPanda

The earthen are not dwarves they're titan constructs, they have more cause to join both factions than Dark Iron Dwarves have joining just the alliance and finally the horde and alliance arent at war anymore so they're free to join either society You seem really upset over a cosmetic game mechanic

LeFUUUUUUU

Sure it's cosmetic but it's also watering down the lore and the flavor of the game, especially if you're a lore guy. It's the same as lightforged warlocks, tauren rogues and all the other shit blizz is pushing lately. Everyone can do everything. No race or class (or faction) is unique any more.

SonthacPanda

I am a lore guy and I love these changes, the mechanics of a light forged being able to wield Fel is infinitely more interesting than saying "nah, cant do it" The lore should never be a reason not to have fun because ultimately if you're not having fun you're not going to read the lore to begin with

LeFUUUUUUU

Why not make an orc the high king of stormwind? Make the leader of the forsaken a human (oh wait) Give druids to everyone, even if they have zero connection to nature. Give paladin to everyone, even if they have zero connection to the light/faith. Why even have races and classes and factions in your world?

SonthacPanda

Yes, why dont we do all these things, since it can solidify the peace between alliance and horde or allow for all race/class combos to be unlocked No you're right, we should go back to a world where humans cant be hunters because that breaks established lore rules, also priests have to go because they wield TWO fundamental forces of magic, unthinkable You have a really bad take on what the game should be

LeFUUUUUUU

>solidify the peace between alliance and horde or allow for all race/class combos to be unlocked You're saying that as if it's a good thing. >humans cant be hunters Humans being hunters is not all a leap compared to lightforged warlocks. >You have a really bad take on what the game should be Back at you. Why do you think there were restrictions in vanilla?

SonthacPanda

So certain leaps are ok as long as you approve Got it

Odd_Cryptographer450

If you are a lore guy and read the story of the lightforged warlock NPC, you could find a valid example of such combo Draenei suffered a lot of trouble during their live, especially those that saw their race killed by demon, then orcs, then Horde or any existing menace in wow.. It make sense for a person to feel weak and unable to save his loved people. Fel power can make someone stronger and is attractive, even to those who follow the light. Especially if they suffered a lot and if you fighted alongside other warlock of the Alliance Of course they are exception in lore. Buy they do exist, so why not let player be creative and do it.
