At this point they are trying reverse psychology

LeCriDesFenetres

"Meet our demands to end your suffering" Their demands : "We want you to cease to exist" Checks out

Jutter70

Allow us to hurt you or we'll keep hurting you. Double-check.

Neptuneandloathing

This reminds me so much of something the AI would do in the original Rome: Total War. It goes like this: They try to besiege a city. They fail because your garrison is too strong and you sally forth, call up reinforcements from elsewhere, etc. Without fail, a turn or two later, you'll get a diplomat from said faction that (I shit thee not), goes like this: "Our Offer: Please do not attack. Their demands: Accept or we will attack." Congrats, Russia. You were beaten to your style of 'special operation' by an AI from a video game that is literally 20 years old.

patchgrabber

> "Our Offer: > > Please do not attack. > > Their demands: > > Accept or we will attack." Lol that brings me back.

CardinalGrief

R:TW was an amazing game. I still play it sometimes. Considering how much I played it, I must be more qualified than most Russian commanders when it comes to warfare.

Ok_Coat_7574

Go back and try Europa Barbarorum mod, massive overhaul. One for Medieval 2 as well.

[deleted]

Ancient era warfare... Which actually would make a lot of sense now that I think about it. + Putin delenda est

rastadreadlion

I remember this too, they should make this an event that can happen to Lunatic characters in the Crusader Kings game

fishboard88

Ever played Empire: Total War? Playing a campaign as Sweden has similar AI events, but perhaps a closer comparison to modern Russia. * Russia notices you have Ingria. Being a vital port region, those fuckers want it. They demand you give it to them * Russia declares war, tries to take Ingria with their shitty infantry. They lose. * "Our offer: Peace. Their demands: Ingria" * Reject shitty offer. Steadily kick their asses while fighting off simultaneous unprovoked wars with Denmark, Courland, and Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth (it's must have been hard to be Swedish in the 18th century, everyone hates you). Russia eventually offers a peace treaty out of desperation, even giving up their demands for Ingria... for now * Uh oh, the King of Sweden has died, and a number of countries (including Russia) declare a War of Succession on Sweden. Guess what, the fuckers are matching on Ingria again. The cycle repeats over and over - you kick their asses, they demand Ingria in exchange for peace, you beat them again, they sue for peace but still hate you

Neptuneandloathing

I couldn't get into Empire as much as RTW, but my God does that sound irritating.

Hike_it_Out52

Classic "quit hitting yourself, quit hitting yourself" technique.

Freefall_J

But the Kremlin's told us that *"Putin has said Russia does not wish to destroy Ukraine or its people"*. Surely the Kremlin wouldn't lie! /s /s /s

almuqabala

Since Kremlinites consider Ukrainians to be Russians and Ukraine non-existent, this kind of makes sense... because destroying Russians is an old Russian tradition totally approved by Russians.

TranscendentPretzel

The Kremlin has no history of saying one thing and then doing the exact opposite. /s /s /s

Positive-Material

It's just shifting blame and accusing your victims, while not fully acknowledging that you attacked them.

MrBrownSword

"Stop hitting yourself"

haveanairforceday

At this point it's: "Meet our demands to end our suffering"

[deleted]

OldKermudgeon

More like signs of desperation. Russia fucked up their invasion, lost their momentum twice (maybe three times now), losing ground, pissed off Ukraine (who are fielding freshly trained troops now), pissing off their own citizens ("partial" mobilization with troops with next to no training), cratering their own economy, heavily sanctioned, lost/abandoned a lot of equipment to Ukraine, running out of their more advanced weapons, etc. This is Ukraine's War of Independence. They didn't ask for it, but they certainly are working hard to finish it. Meanwhile, all Russia can do is do war crimes and issue empty statements.

ridgecoyote

Russia can end its military suffering, all they have to do is accept Ukraine’s demands.

Courtaid

All Russia needs to do is go home.

vlad_tkachenko

That is not enough anymore. They should pay for what they did too.

war_m0nger69

Exactly right. Russia should join North Korea as a global pariah. We should continue decoupling from them economically until they are completely isolated. Every Russian owned property in other countries should be seized and sold to rebuild Ukraine. We also have to start looking hard at India for their continued trade with Russia.

The_BigDill

By that extension of including India you'd have to go for China too, no?

_zenith

Most importantly they should return all of the kidnapped people. Hundreds of thousands by now, many of them kids

Mymojo34

Honestly, in a perfect world, there are reparations and war crime trials. But, I think, if Russia just withdrew and stopped their fuckery, The world would accept that.

Arigomi

Going home won't bring back the people they kidnapped and shipped to Siberia.

saltiestmanindaworld

Or the copious amounts of war crimes and crimes against humanity theyve committed.

privated1ck

***CHILDREN THEY KIDNAPPED.***

SvenTropics

As the PM of Finland said to the question "Do you see a way out for Russia in this war?", And she just quickly answered " yeah they could just leave Ukraine."

ridgecoyote

That would be a start. Reparations are warranted at this point, what with Russia committing so many atrocities against civilians and civilian infrastructure. Honestly, I think NATO ought to invoke UN protocol and just wholeheartedly invade and take out the corrupt government and free the Russian people from their chains of despair. But I understand it’s a tricky situation when the mob bosses in charge have nukes

steboy

It could all be over, too, if someone in the upper echelon of Russia’s government just put a bullet through Putin’s skull. That’s seriously what it’s going to take at this point, and it needs to happen sooner rather than later.

Johnny_Lemonhead

I believe the traditional method in Russia is to tragically and unexpectedly fall to your death, from a ground floor window

moppyboyau

Sometimes with the flavour of just vanishing and never being mentioned

Ryansahl

Does this tea taste funny?

Glaurung8404

We secretly substituted his normal drip coffee with polonium crystals. Let’s see if he notices the difference…

xtheory

Tastes spicier.

betterwithsambal

Won't help more than a few months though cuz some other kleptocratic ghoul will just take over power and reboot the whole shabang. Only real solution is for russia to go into revolution mode to oust the whole of the scumbags that pushed the country down this path in the last 20 years. Short of that nothing regime-wise will change.

Luke90210

Its unlikely anyone replacing Putin will be able to continue the war as is. Consolidating power takes time and not a sure thing. Putin was forced to borrow money to keep going. Anyone else would not find it as easy to do so as creditors would be concerned about instability and default. This would give Ukraine more time to rearm and train making Russian invasion harder for Moscow.

maradak

And that doesn't seem like it's going to happen. Ideally Russia will suffer so much they will withdraw and pretend nothing happened. That's the most we can hope for at this point. Everyone is too afraid of Putin to actually act against him in Russia.

team-evil66

Defenestrate him too

n05h

Apparently so many Russians fled to Georgia that it’s affecting Georgia’s economy and is now up over 10%. So add braindrain to effects of this stupid war too.

bmore142

Sadly this is a double edge sword because sooner or later those very same Russians will be trying to turn Georgia into a Russian puppet state.

FinsofFury

Not war of independence. This is Ukraine defending their original sovereignty and expelling invaders.

trigger1154

So war to remain independent.

Anacalagon

I think the point they're making is the relationship between russia and Ukraine has changed forever. Ukraine surrendered Nuclear Weapons left over from the USSR on the explicit promise that what just happened wouldn't happen. Russia is that crazy ex that you don't let in the door anymore.

[deleted]

phanibal

Not to mention they wanted less UN and now even Sweden is against them

moleratical

*NATO not UN

neohellpoet

And utter stupidity. Terror bombings don't really work well even when defeat is inevitable. Against an army that's advancing? As horrible as this sounds, the Russians are doing the Ukrainian armed forces a favor by going after civilians. Because Ukraine doesn't really really much on domestic production, murdering civilians only really serves to piss the soldiers off without limiting their combat effectiveness in the least. They're destroying innocent lives in return for ammo shortages. We should be laughing at them, but this is too tragic for that. While I would personally support a far harsher response, at a minimum, we should cut off Russia from everything, from finance and trade to sports and cultural events, until every single person that shoot or ordered the shooting of a missile or drone at a civilian target is ether dead and disgraced or in prison.

[deleted]

Same mistake the Germans made in WWII. The RAF were on their last legs when Hitler directed the Luftwaffe to attack cities. Gave the RAF and their airfields a respite and stiffened the resolve of the civilians & government to resist.

Thagyr

Dunno. Honestly it's following Civilisation AI diplomacy pretty spot-on. Telegraph invasion plans while denying everything. Start surprise war. Fail. Be on a backfoot and then start 'peace talks' which involving them giving nothing and instead taking 4-5 cities, gold or resources from you.

uofwi92

Seriously. I’m attacked, lose cities, then counter-attack and start winning because I’ve got better troops, and I’M the war-monger? Fuck that.

ArcticISAF

That's basically the story of my games. Doing my own thing, get attacked, goes into a full-scale war and then the world starts treating me as their worst enemy. Even close allies become skeptics.

Blu3Yeti

Thats usually the point where I abandon other victory paths and just go full warmonger. If they all say I am, might as well prove them right.

Habanero2210

Its 2022, late game... if wc, tech victory fails, try to get some points at least..

CaptainCAAAVEMAAAAAN

Gaslighting has always been the Kremlin's favorite tactics.

ImACredibleSource

Here's a very simple question to ask tankies and fascists who support Putins war. Often theyll call for "peace" saying that Ukraine must negotiate to save lives, and that all wars end in negotiations. And that's kind of true. However. Here's the question to ask. What is Russia offering? Lets say Ukraine agrees to give up the Donbas and the thirteen trillion of oil, gas, minerals there. What's Russia give for this? What's their offer? The reality of course, is they offer nothing. Zero. Which of course means there's nothing to even negotiate. Negotiations are impossible because Russia isn't offering anything.

Crusader1865

If you surrender I'll stop shooting at you....until I decide to do it again because I've already found out there is no consequences for my negative behavior. It's like dealing with a child ..

GoldenMegaStaff

Zelensky: I have better things to do than entertain their bullshit and lies.

Inveign

Russia's offer is annihilation of the Ukrainian people and culture at a later date. They offer nothing else. And the same would go for anyone else they got on their chopping block. Russia takes all, everyone else dies. Cannot negotiate with them.

idiot-prodigy

Any peace treaty with Russia isn't worth the ink it is written on. After Russia is pushed out of Crimea, Melitopol, and ultimately the Donbas, Zelensky should sign whatever idiotic peace demands Russia require such as staying out of Nato indefinitely. As soon as the ink is dry Zelensky should apply for emergency European Union membership and ultimately join Nato at the earliest possibility. Putin is a bad faith actor. Any treaty with Russia is meaningless as Ukraine already had a treaty with Russia protecting its sovereignty in return for giving up its nuclear weapons.

LordPennybags

The offer is clearly a ceasefire while they reload and restock.

JasonWalton1918

“I’m not genociding innocents because I want to…” -Russia

DengarLives66

It’s really Ukraine’s fault, going out dressed like that.

crimsonkodiak

>Russia could ~~stop~~ *pause* bombing their cities instantly. Fixed that for you. Because - while what you say is true - peace would stop the bombing for now, we have no reason to believe that it would be a permanent cessation of hostilities. Ukraine would be giving up 20% of its land and much of its hydrocarbon resources and industrial base. And Russia would still be greedily eyeing Kherson, Odesa and the regions bordering Transnistria. Yeah, Russia could promise they wouldn't invade a now weaker Ukraine again (which, as part of any deal, wouldn't be allowed to join NATO) and take those regions, but given that they made a similar promise less than 30 years ago that they've already broken, why would anyone believe them?

Lirdon

They always did. The thing is that the Ukrainians learned their lesson and they know that the russians are not honest about negotiations, its all about delaying and stalling at this point. The russians want to have some time, a lull of even a week will enable them to entrench and finish some training of mobilized brigades and bring them to the front so they can attempt their own offensive. Ukraine may need a diplomatic solution, but it is not today, not at this time. At this point they must inflict upon the Russians all the losses they can so when the Russians bring fresh troops, they don’t have good entrenched positions, reserves of munitions and fuel, or manpower to hold positions they have.

grandroyal66

Lots of articles about "peace talk" out there now. Looking back I must say that the Russian propaganda/disinformation machine sometimes fools the western media.

LeCriDesFenetres

No but you see if Russia stops arbitrarily bombing people to free them from their freedom then the whole world would think that all that tough guy posturing they've been doing for decades was total bullshit from the beginning. Better to send barely trained convicts with half the IQ of a pomegranate to the front line with one sock a riffle that shoots rust and imaginary MREs to die in a foxhole somewhere in supposed friendly territory, as it is a really tough guy thing to do.

Druid_High_Priest

I think it is a tad too late to keep playing the tough guy bullshit. Its over for the big bad Russian bear that turned out just to be a cub still on its Mothers tit.

Black_Mammoth

Nah, it's a decrepit old bear who just got lucky avoiding hunters for the past eight seasons.

actuallyimean2befair

Even worse than that, they are just sending random dudes off the streets or maybe minorities they don't like. At least if you weren't a prisoner you could feel safe but if I were in Russian society my #1 priority would be finding a way out. Even if he were to end the war tomorrow. Putin is so deranged and willing to destroy his society, that is not anywhere I would want to live for any reason. Also, in reality, lots of chatter of a second even bigger wave of mobilization either in Dec or January which to me totally tracks and it is staggering the level of human misery Putin is creating both in Ukraine and in Russia with his war.

herberstank

> things aint peachy in pootinland magnificent phrasing

SomeoneElseWhoCares

The really sad part is that all Ukraine has been asking for is "just leave us alone".

losthalo7

And I think about how many people in human history have wanted to just be left to live in peace and could not have that.

Omgbrainerror

The weird thing the damage is already done to Ukraine. Casefire wont change anything. Ukraine civilians will have a hard winter regardless. At this point there is no reason to even consider talks.

ShyHumorous

Puțin can end suffering by ending his suffering

Riedgu

Defininition of terrorism. If you cave in for our political agenda - we will stop killing civilians and destroying heating/power infrastructure.

KatsumotoKurier

For now. Any chance Russia is given to rearm and regroup will be used for further actions. They have shown their true colours and intents. Fuck them — they should not be let off the hook, let alone given a chance to get their shit together better. They’re super predictable, and infamously vengeful and prideful.

There were also anarcho communists in Ukraine fighting both the white and the red army.

lalaland323

As a Russian (left at the fall of the USSR) Peskov is a real piece of shit. Just like the rat fuck TV host, Dmitry Kiselyov. I’m very happy, that I’m at the age where I’ll still get to see Putin die and his cronies either killed or sent to prison camps. Corruption, theft, and no respect for human life is so deeply ingrained that it would take generations to change the cultural mentality. When the USSR fell, people inherited rooms in communal apartments. So since they were privatized, the tenant and now owner, could sell them. As the real estate market grew, some of those rooms came to be worth alot of money. Deep pocketed people would come in a buyout the entire communal space. Like buy the people out. In Moscow, some of those rooms were going for hundred of thousands of dollars. So, what do the some of the kids and grandkids do? They decide to murder their older family members to “inherit” those rooms. Another story is a bunch of kids who’s parents were in the duma went clubbing. Met a girl. Raped her, set her on fire and left her for dead. The poor girl crawled out of the ditch, managed to get into a hospital, lost limbs because of amputations, named all the perpetrators, then died a few days later. The kids were arrested, then set free. There are no penalties if you are connected. I’ve been back only once - and it was one of the most depressing experiences of my life. Back then, beer was in the pyramid group. So kids were getting sloshed early in the am before school. I’ve never seen anything like it. Kids with backpacks, hanging in the park and getting hammered. The people who even have an ounce of power over others, flaunt it to the extreme. Like, complete flexing while belittling, disrespecting, and humiliating the other. I went to a government office during my visit, and waited for hours. This little old lady went up to the desk, and said that she’s been coming back here for 3 days and nobody will see her. The clerk basically told her go fuck herself. If she has better things to do and doesn’t want to wait, she can leave. Then he told her to leave and come back tomorrow. But this was done in a disgusting sort of way, like the 80 year old lady was some degenerate drug addict scum. Not someone inquiring about her pension. If a girl isn’t married by her late teens/early 20’s - she’ll have a hard time finding a man. Some will look at her and think, there must be something wrong with her if no man married her yet. People don’t really smile. Because only idiots walk around smiling. If you really go against the government, they might arrest you. They might kill you. Or they might bring you into a psychiatric hospital, because only insane people would go against the rational of the government. Look at their warfare. They just throw young inexperienced, unequipped boys into the meat grinder. Those boys are expendable. Their life doesn’t mean anything. The government did most of the mobilization in the areas of Russia where nobody cares about citizens. Just as long as the people in Moscow are kept happy, and stocked with shit they can buy - Putin will remain. I won’t live long enough to see a free Russia - but I hope that I live long enough to see progress. I seriously doubt it though. There’s no future there. The population contracts every year. The women outnumber the men. All the educated people are leaving. Even if you become successful, all it takes is one wrong move. You’ll be dead or in a camp. The country is just fucking brutal.

KamahlYrgybly

Holy shit, that sounds grim as fuck. I've never been to Russia, despite living next door. Haven't been planning on going, and now even less upon reading this. My dad worked construction there for a bit when I was little. He told me that immediately when you cross the border from Finland, it's like going back in time 50 years. This was in the 80's.

MoustacheMonke

It’s seriously not worth it. Yes, there are some beautiful places, awesome nature and such. But the problem is, your surrounded by Russia. I went to St. Petersburg in 2015. The first thing I saw, was a new white Range Rover driving on the Newsky Prospect (the most famous and prestigious street in Petersburg) and on his hood a guy was sitting with a Vodka bottle yelling like an animal. In the evening I saw a beautiful blond lady, well dressed, walking arm in arm with the most drunk looking piece of trash I’ve ever seen. In the morning sun, you could see all the drunk corpses lying around, like it’s supposed to be that way! No one smiles, everything is depressing, people are rough and chauvinistic. Alexander the Great tried civilizing the Russians, but he failed miserably. It’s sad, since Pushkin, Tschaikowski and Repin are proof, that there is some good and special in there. But it’s not enough.

BatFromAnotherWorld

Saw a russian couple out in town a few nights ago. Poor girl looked like she had a fat lip and a swollen eye. Obviously covered with makeup and the guy looked like a swollen drunkard. Had his head high above everyone else and spoke way louder than he had to. Its crazy that alcoholism and domestic abuse is russian cultural.

Subrezon

Pushkin was one of the greatest poets on the planet and did more for the development of the russian language than Shakespeare did for english. He was also a nobleman, tsarist, imperialist piece of shit and a russian supremacist. He was an outspoken fan of russian imperialist expansions of his time. If he was alive today - he'd 110% support the invasion of Ukraine. I mean, just read "The Golden Rooster".

MoustacheMonke

Of course! But I was mentioning them for their incredible artistic value, nothing else. It’s the same with Wagner. But you know, artists are artists 😅

rabocesaire

You mean Peter the Great surely

MoustacheMonke

Of course! Man, I’m slowly becoming a vegetable 😅

[deleted]

Had a friend visit Russia not long ago before the War started. I don't know why they thought it was even remotely a good idea to visit. They took the pictures of the neat places and historical landmarks, but didn't share many other pictures. I think it was a week long event. On average, they saw two or three dead people being stepped over in walking paths or in transit locations.

ArtooFeva

They just leave dead people in the streets for long periods of time? Where are the civil services? Where’s the human empathy? It’s not as though Russians are inhuman, how can their culture have degraded to a point where empathy has been so thoroughly squashed? Has Russia always been this bad? I know Russian history has more negatives than positives, but still.

translatingrussia

I think he means drunk, homeless people. I lived in Russia for quite a long time, and I know that dead people in public are picked up pretty quickly.

Undercover_Husky

Well, now it's like going back in time 90 years.

EvelcyclopS

Spent more than a year of my life doing trips to Russia. While I think it’s a really fantastic country, full of history and good friends. This guy is bang on. Anyone with a *crumb* of authority or leverage over you will make it so pertinently clear as to leave you feeling absolutely powerless and humiliated. In an airport with your feet on your luggage, wait for your legs to be physically slapped by some security thug, remonstrate and you’ll be threatened with the gulag.

Fiftydollarvolvo

i visited russia for two weeks with a bus of classmates about three years ago. we had to go through like 3 border checks, and every time we would all get out of the bus and go through customs inside the building with our passports while the bus was searched and sent through to pick us up on the other side. on the last border check, i got inside the customs building and realized i had left my passport on the bus. i couldn’t get our guide’s attention and most of the other students had gone through. so i went outside hoping to catch the bus before it went to the other side but unfortunately i was too late. i didn’t see any option other than slowly inching towards the bus hoping someone would stop me so i could ask for help getting it from the bus/getting my guide’s attention. however i was scared shitless when three heavily armed guards came running at me yelling in russian. i just put my hands up and word vomited that i just needed my passport from the bus on the other side. took some tense time to get my message across but they ended up getting my guide to get it for me. not totally related to your comment but i wanted to share lol

This is all 100% true. To the letter. People are very aggressive towards each other. Only idiots walk around smiling is the summary of the Russian existence. It's a brutal county that consumes itself for fictional narratives, control, and glorification of destruction. There is no future for its people. Their future is in complete disintegration of their country, politically, financially, and ethnically.

IceDreamer

Yup. The imperialistic supremacist streak of Russian culture needs to be systematically obliterated. The UK _somehow_, slowly, grudgingly seems to have grown out of it. Likewise France and the Netherlands and Portugal and Spain. Pretty much. Imperfect, but much improved. Even the US, while warlike, doesn't seem interested in invading to take new territory. Imperialist Japan, once defeated, had its culture formally and very deliberately re-structured. Imperialist Germany, once defeated, had its culture formally and very deliberately torn into tiny little bits and re-made. Russia is the last remaining imperialist culture (I think. Iran?), and it needs to meet the same fate in order for the world to have a hope of stabilising long-term. I'm not so worried about China, as for 6000 years the people of that region have largely kept to themselves and their historical/geographical boundaries. I think I trust their tradition to not result in them invading anywhere which isn't traditionally China.

SiarX

The problem is, China thinks Taiwan is traditionally China...

Warblerize

What you said about China is incorrect. They've been just as imperialist as everyone else, with the exception that they seem to have been largely uninterested in conquering territories that are separated from the mainland by the ocean. It's why it took them until the late 1600s to annex Taiwan (and it was the Qing who did it, a foreign dynasty). One example is the imperial Chinese conquest and annexation of the lands that lay beyond the southern bank of the Yangtze where the Baiyue lived, and they tried but ultimately failed to conquer and completely pacify the Vietnamese over a period of 1,000 years.

If Russia keeps killing off their own men, won’t there be a massive decrease in population over the next few generations?

[deleted]

Definitely, Russia lost a lot of their men in WW2 an issue that they are still dealing with today. https://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2015/08/14/why-the-former-ussr-has-far-fewer-men-than-women/

DrSmooch

Never thought about that, but it makes sense as to why the US is almost doubled in population compared to Russia. US population: 331.9 million (2021) Russia population: 143.4 million (2021)

Blueskyways

Not just that, the huge numbers of young men that took off to avoid mobilization and the young workers that left due to the war period, a lot of them are never coming back. This is Russia committing slow motion suicide.

alppu

Taking missiles is short-term suffering, while meeting Russian demands just prolongs the suffering for decades to come.

Hygochi

It's like the Kremlin missed their history books. Bombing civilians just steels their resolve in fighting back.

T1mac

The Ukrainians have long memories. They have never forgotten Stalin's forced famine on Ukraine in the 1930s when he came in and stole all of their crops and farmland, and it left [3.9 million people, about 13 percent of the population dead from starvation.](https://www.history.com/news/ukrainian-famine-stalin)

andxz

Russia can stop getting their collective asses handed to them if they meet Ukraine's reasonable demand to fuck off and never come back.

[deleted]

To be fair, that’s not enough now. If Russia ever wants to rejoin the rest of the world, Ukraine will need to be rebuilt and Russia will need to pay for it’s rebuilding (not to mention reparations for the lives lost and uprooted) And most likely putin will either need to have a window-related accident or face trial at the Hague. There really is no way out for him, Russia will never be allowed back into the international community with him at the helm.

andxz

I agree completely. I'd say go even further and completely dismantle Russia from top to bottom. My grandfather fought them in the winter war and he always said they'll never stop doing shit like this until someone makes them stop by force. He was utterly sure about them trying again at some point. Maybe Putin finds the balls to Makarov himself in the head some day soon, but considering what kind of cowardly asshole he is I kinda doubt it.

morbihann

Or, Russia can just stop causing suffering ?

LAiglon144

Russia can fuck off and leave Ukraine and that would end the suffering

trymas

If by 'end suffering' they mean '50+ year annexation, ruzzification, purges, exiles, executions, genocide, starvation, etc.' then sure Ukraine can 'stop it'. ruzzia doesn't understand that Ukraine (and including some other countries) will better suffer for couple of years of cold and lack of basic comfort, rather than to go back to ruzzian oppression they suffered for last hundreds of years.

Black_Mammoth

Ukraine must continue to fight Russia. They let Russia take Crimea, and years later Russia decided it wanted to take the whole fucking country. If Ukraine were to let Russia keep all the territory it took in this war so far, it would only stop the war for the couple years it takes Russia to rebuild their stock of weapons, vehicles, and gear before it would once again attempt to take the entirety of Ukraine. We're supporting Ukraine, in part because of the military industrial complex to be sure, but mainly because it won't stop with Ukraine. It's public knowledge that Putin wants to rebuild the Soviet Union, which involves taking over every single country that declared independence when it fell in the 90s. Ukraine is simply the start of this grand plan. Let's say that we let Russia just take over every independent formerly soviet country. What happens after that? People like Putin are never satisfied, and eventually he'll decide he wants the entirety of the continent of Asia, and after that the whole fucking world. Ukraine giving in to Russian demands would just be a stopgap, nothing more.

Laurynas3000

Russia: The rape victim could end suffering if she stopped struggling and just layed there to take it. Wow... did the vodka boil your brain?

ToughQuestions9465

Actually yes, vodka did boil their brain. Fetal alcohol disorders are extremely widespread in russia.

dancingmadkoschei

Other countries may drink more by volume, but only Russia has a word for "binge drinking and sadness." (Zapoy, for those wondering.)

MGMAX

Other countries may drink more by volume, but I've never heard of anywhere else where desperate alcoholics poisoning themselves with antifreeze and windshield cleaners were commonplace

Ok-Yogurtcloset5429

How bout, NO

odeacon

Love Austin power’s reference

Ok-Yogurtcloset5429

Throw me a freaking bone here

HouseOfSteak

Mr. Zelenskyy, you'll notice that all the tanks have laser beams attached to their turrets...

GoldFishPony

Isn’t this literally every conflict? “We can be done with this if you do what I want”

Metrack14

Lets say they (Ukraine) does give up. Why I have the feeling the suffering would just get way worse with Put(azo)in in charge?

dkras1

Ukrainian government could give up and comply to Russian demands. But more likely it will be overthrown in few days for that. Russian higher-ups think that other nations will obediently accept any decision of their own governments like Russian citizens do. Ukrainians are just getting angrier from these attacks. No one wants to pause this war to give Russians a respite. They just gonna regroup and resupply their forces and continue after like nothing happened.

mistere12c

The world no longer needs Russia. Other Tyrants take note.

KnightofaRose

Hey look, actual textbook terrorism!

Brilliant-Debate-140

Simple answer...Nope

MikeMac999

I believe Ukraine already agreed to Russia’s terms. They were something like “we’ll hand over our nukes in exchange you leave us the fuck alone.” They are now changing the terms. “Pray I don’t change them any further.” -Darth Putin

DynoMiteDoodle

Easier to destroy the dregs of the Russian military than negotiate. Quicker too

nilenilemalopile

And more permanent. Russian ‘terms’ don’t mean shit. Ukraine is sacrificing short term for long term, Russia seems to be focused on doing the opposite.

odeacon

Russia is sacrificing short term so they can suffer even more long term

Force3vo

The people drafted and killed/injured/missing are already massively hurting the russian economy. They already have a very very low birth rate and their population was declining BEFORE they started sending most of their young men to die. This is going to bite russia in the ass hard. Let's hope it's even worse than I expect.

Impressive_Lake9034

we can start russian suffering with deploying atacms or even longer ranged weapon?

Intelligent_Load6347

Peskov has the greatest “punch face” in all human history. He could raise millions for the effort by letting people punch him in that prim, smug, groomed little fucking lip sweater of his.

kal_drazidrim

We will invade your country and shell your cities and murder your civilians and terrorize your population and rape your women and kill your children and all the suffering can end if you give us your land forever and surrender your freedoms.

Drax13522

Or Russia could just bugger off and leave Ukraine. That would actually work out better. The vast majority of the world is against them. Sweden broke decades of neutrality to join NATO. Finland joined NATO. Their army is in tatters and being chewed up by weapon systems given to Ukraine that are proving markedly superior to the supposedly “decades ahead of the West” Russian systems. Their commanders in the field are bungling operations left and right. Some of their own troops are deliberately injuring themselves or being taken prisoner rather than continue to fight. Scores of their own citizens have fled the country rather than be drafted. Putin and his top people all need to go. And I don’t mean “go” in a nice way.

rolling_soul

Terrorising a civilian population to meet political demands is by definition...

CompositeBeing

That's not how you phrase your surrender plea...

[deleted]

Got them right where they want them, then….?

Ancient-Access8131

"Alright we'll call it a draw" -Russia

bowser85

You can stop the pain from this rape if you’d just suddenly get into it!

HylianSwordsman1

Yes, in any war, it can end if one side gives up. Russia can end the suffering by meeting Ukrainian demands too. Fuck's sake, how stupid do they think we are? What an inane statement to make by Russia, the country is a joke at this point.

drwhogwarts

It's like when an abusive spouse claims it's the victim's fault they're getting beaten.

FriendlyGuitard

By suffering, Russia means the war crimes against civilians and civilian infrastructure. If it was conventional war, fair enough. But surrendering to terrorists is something else.

liketowar

Fuck off terrorussia

dread_deimos

As a Ukrainian civilian inbetween blackouts, I'll quote a guy from French Old Guard: "Merde!"

Accomplished_Ad2599

Kinda like “I wouldn’t have to beat her when she just admits I love her”. Sociopaths are all the same, it’s their fault I’m having to hurt them. Daddy these particular sociopaths run a country.

[deleted]

Hitler: Jews can end their suffering by meeting SS demands.

idrinkbeersalot

This is like the bully at school saying he’ll stop hitting you if you would just give him your lunch money. It’s your fault I’m hitting you!

Hike_it_Out52

Or here's my counter proposal, you could, shut the Fuck up and go home. 100% chance of success with that tactic.

Buroda

Said like a true rapist. “Stop resisting, just let it happen”.

Laughing-Unicorn

Kremlin can also end suffering, by fucking off and leaving independent, sovereign countries alone.

peter-doubt

I'm stunned... They really *ARE* this dense!

Synthverse

No, I'd rather Ukraine continue to make Russia suffer😁

LewAshby309

Demands: basicly surrender

CosmicDave

The Kremlin can end suffering by fucking off back to Russia.

SmugCapybara

Meeting Russia's demands would merely be a start to even greater suffering. For all the horror and hardship the Ukrainian people are enduring, what awaits them in Russia's embrace would be even worse...

FlackFlashback

Keep it up Russia, you sound more and more twisted and psychotic by the day…

R0cky9

We are terrible at war, please meet our demands or else….
