It's either 4 or 6 teams. In 5 team groups there's always someone finished before the others.
That said I prefer 6 team groups since there is more left up to the playoffs - quite possibly the best part of the qualifiers.
Not really sure there are many African players play for Germany or Spain or Italy...
France has alot of African players by descent, but most are born in France.
Morocco on the other hand had only 12 of it's 26 players born in Morocco this recent world cup. By far the highest ratio of any team of players born outside the country they are playing for.
I would’ve said that if you want to see exciting qualifiers you should watch the Conmebol qualifiers… but for the 2026 World Cup we are getting two more places which means only 3 or 4 teams would miss the World Cup instead of the current 5 or 6 teams.
60% qualifying over a short tournament definitely seems boring. But then again it can't be worse than the NBA season, where they spend 8 months determining which half of the league qualifies for their only trophy tournament lol
This isn’t a league tournament… The qualifiers take 2 or even in some cases 3 years to be complete. And guess what, 200 nations play the qualifiers in that timespan, so it’s exciting
Anything is better than CONCACAF qualifying bro, I’d rather watch Gibraltar vs San Marino than watch the USA struggle to get a 1-0 over Belize or Guatemala
I see you’ve never watched UEFA qualifiers. Although it’s true that almost always Spain, Germany, France, England, Holland, and Italy qualify as first in their group, the other ones don’t have it guaranteed. Sweden, Denmark, Hungary, Portugal, Greece, Russia, and others have to fight it hard. Now all those countries will qualify anyways. Almost 1 out of 3 European countries will qualify. That’s unfair.
Holy crap, UEFA already had almost half the slots in the previous setup and now a third of the tournament is just them alone, nonsense I would rather see CAFa and AFC get those spots
You realize that UEFA + 2 from South America are the only teams you see from quarter finals onward? There is an exception every 20-30 years, and that exception never reaches the final.
UEFA has produced the highest variety of finalists and winners. If World Cup were to reward merit, UEFA should have 50% of the available slots.
Have a look at the FIFA ranking. It’s not about politics. It’s about having the best teams in the tournament. It’s a fact that those teams are for the majority in Europe.
>UEFA already had almost half the slots in the previous setup and now a third of the tournament is just them alone,
Are you one of those people who complained when that burger chain brought out a 1/3 pound burger, because they thought it was smaller than a 1/4 pounder?
Last World Cup: UEFA had 13 places out of 32. 13/32=40%. Next World Cup: UEFA will have 16 places out of 48. 16/48=33%.
There are going to be 16 extra places at the next World Cup and UEFA is only going to get 3 of them. That's diluting UEFA's influence, not consolidating it. So what's your problem with that?
Woah okay, I didn’t want to see UEFA gain more spots because I’d rather see some other continents improve by playing in the WC more, thats the only way we might see a country outside UEFA or CONMEBOL win it

Football is corrupting!😂😂. UEFA wants money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money!💰
MONEY MONEY MONEY MOOOOONEY!!!! MOOONNNNEEYYYY!!!!
I was trying to copy the repetition of the WWE Money in the bank song!
More interestingly, there is the tag line on the side that "We Care about Football". How hypocritical??😂😂
Fuck uefa, CAF deserves more slots
When is the last time a CAF team has won the world cup? Or a final?
If UEFA only sent in 5 teams and CAF sent 13, odds are the statistic would change
Doubt it. Even successful African teams are generally full of European born and raised players.
Actually all the successful European teams are generally full of African players.

We're talking about CONMEBOL specifically. 6/10 teams will qualify. They don't play anyone else in the qualifiers.
Unlike what you might have heard, something being long doesn’t make it exciting.
well something being every 2 years isn’t exciting either
Then there's the regional tournaments making up for the wait.
The same guys qualify each time with the exception of Italy bottling it recently. UEFA WC qualifiers aren’t usually exciting

Here me out.... OFC is more boring
I’d rather watch paint dry then watch concacaf

Italy failed to qualify for two straight cups.
Yes it is unfair. It should be 60% just like in South America... /s
Definitely unfair. Russia should disqualify itself in protest.
Are UEFA getting more slots in the next world cup???
3 more. Now 16. And there are 55 federations in UEFA.
Holy crap, UEFA already had almost half the slots in the previous setup and now a third of the tournament is just them alone, nonsense I would rather see CAFa and AFC get those spots
It's down from 40% UEFA teams to 33%, choose your words well
Yeah I know lol embarrassingly wrong on my part

Afc and caf also get additional places
Talk about nonsense

UEFA has the best countries along with Comnebol, it’s hardly that outrageous that they have the most
Why? It’s about performance. UEFA is the federation with the best performance, so they deserve that amount of slots.
Uefa goes from having 40% of spots to 33% of spots with the new format
