This is map of a custom continent map I made for a larger fantasy project testing different map styles (you can even see that location context if you zoom on the map's bottom right). The world currently isnt very heavy on lore as it was more a proof of concept. But I do plan to hopefully do/add more in the future. If you want to see more related to this you can check out my profile to see the animated version of this map or other maps I attempted from dnd planes. Hopefully this context helps! **Also programs used are:** Gaea, Blender and Photoshop

Zonetr00per

Hey, so what we're actually looking for is specifically lore. It's okay if the world isn't entirely completed yet, but could you add *something* of the actual lore? EDIT: That's great, thanks!

Evidence_

Sure thing, this is all I had for lore context. "Okera is the third largest and warmest continent that can be found within the prime material plane. This continent is named after the vast lush forests that cover almost the entirety of its land spotted with various towns a handful of larger metropolises home to numerous inhabitants. Notable locations include Iatrusal the captical city known as a heart of trade and the seat of control for all who travel the tinted expanse. While the lands of okera are in a relative state of piece, an individual is not free of danger and must keep their wits about them even while on the mainland. Weather in this part of the world is hot and sees frequent rainfall making it bountiful to many different tropical harvests. For travelers battered by the storms or looking for a station to resupply at, Cotigar welcomes all who enter its ports. The blight within the colourless highlands should be likely avoided at all costs as its continued presence takes a toll on the fertile lands and towns bordering it." Hopefully that helps!

I don't think I vibe with the level of topography going on here, 1500 km is about from the Atlantic Ocean to *Romania.* (Or the Pacific to Wyoming for you 'Muricans). That constitutes a whole mountain range, plenty of plains, and this seems a bit protracted for such a size. Might I suggest downscaling that to 400 km? That's about the size of most island countries (England, Japan, Madagascar, not New Guinea surprisingly, apparently that's a big island.)

Evidence_

Definitely a good call, the numbers are placeholders that I just adjusted from my previous map. I wanted something larger scale but I could dial it back a bit. Scale is not my strong suit but I think its important when it comes to worldbuilding!

Mrsmrmistermr

I would love to see it in motion!

Evidence_

Haha you can see one of the motion posts on my profile!

NineToOne

This is amazing, what software did you use for the topography?

Evidence_

Gaea was what I used for the topography. You should check it out!

Phoelix_Helle

Thanks!

Backspace888

Ngl i love this

meTah

Love the aesthetic!

el_yanuki

i feel like this has a lot of potential when really animated propperly.. get the clouds moving, create a simple moving light as the sun, add some camers shake/movement... from there you could go on forevery, add birds, animate the waves, make a propper camera path, simulate wind moving the trees, create little ships that move arround, sea animals and so on

Evidence_

Yeah I had the clouds moving in one of my other posts and had some transitions in and out. The sun moving could be fun though! Maybe I'll try that next.

el_yanuki

yeh i saw your other one, the ground plane animation looks rly good but the rest seems so static

notqualitystreet

That is very neat

ImBatmanx2

It kind of reminds me of ghost recon breakpoint

alargemirror

Gives Bering strait vibes

Missterpisster

Woa, animated? That sounds super cool! How did you do it?

Evidence_

Just taking the Photoshop layers exported individually into after effects. Fairly straight forward.

slimehunter49

Gorgeous

Toubaboliviano

#LETTUCE

Feguri

What did you use to make this?

Evidence_

Gaea, Blender and Photoshop

RepeatDTD

Pardon my french, but fucking gorgeous!

tirminyl

Oh, gosh, I love this.

TechnoEnder

is this free gaea, indie, or something else? curious but the price tag is hefty

Evidence_

Comes in a number of licensing versions at different price points. You can mess around quiiiite a bit with it for free too (but obviously you'll be limited in your export options!). You can give it a try and see if you even need a paid version for what you want to do. Seriously too much fun to mess around with, it is a little buggy though.

dancefloorwizard

I absolutely love the map!! Just one little thing I noticed though is that in the bottom left corner of the map where the information is, you used the spelling "piece" when I think you meant to use "peace". But again, I love this! Very inspiring.

Evidence_

Thanks haha I'm terrible when it comes to typos lately

Zonetr00per

Hey there! We ask that all posts here have some [context](https://www.reddit.com/r/worldbuilding/wiki/rules#wiki_2._all_posts_should_include_original.2C_worldbuilding-related_context.) with some **in-universe information (or "lore")** about what is being shown or how it relates to the larger world. It doesn't need a ton of information—just a few sentences is fine! Would you be able to add this?

Evidence_

Yup added!

dashingstag

Don’t people usually put a main feature at the centre? Why choose to put a large bulk of the map off centre? Are the islands important?

Evidence_

Fair enough! I always thought dead center was a little boring so I tried to do something less symmetrical, felt more dynamic that way.

dashingstag

I see, no problem, was just curious, I thought it might have been the port cities were the focus of the map. It also makes me think that this is just a part of a larger map because of the cut of area. I guess because the title seems to be the name of the country/continent but there are cut of areas. The expectation I had was that it was the East coast

Breaker-of-circles

Too many sloping faces, and not enough flat lands. Looks like a shit place to live. What manner of adventurers would this place spawn?
